Ground Zero mosque imam claims America is worse than al-Qaeda

August 23, 2010

We are slowly but surely beginning to learn more about  Feisal Abdul Rauf–the imam behind the Ground Zero mosque–and the more we learn about him the more we have to question his motives behind building a mosque on this location.

We already know that  Feisal Abdul Rauf called America “an accessory to the crime,” in reference to the September 11th attacks, but now we have learned that this imam has also stated that the United States is worse than al-Qaeda.

We tend to forget, in the West, that the United States has more Muslim blood on its hands than al-Qaeda has on its hands of innocent non Muslims

What complicates the discussion, intra-Islamically, is the fact that the West has not been cognizant and has not addressed the issues of its own contribution to much injustice in the Arab and Muslim world

And he now has the gall to state that the opposition to the Ground Zero mosque goes beyond Islamophobia?

We are deeply concerned, because this is like a metastasized antisemitism,” said Daisy Khan, who is spearheading the project with her husband, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf. “It’s beyond Islamophobia. It’s hate of Muslims

In spite of his hateful comments about the United States his wife has the audacity to claim that we are hateful of Muslims because we oppose building a mosque on this site.

Feisal Abdul Rauf expects us to be tolerant–even in light of his intolerant positions  towards the United States–and accept this mosque as a sign of extending an olive branch to those that would do us harm. By appeasing the radical Muslims we are supposed to show that we accept them and admit that we are at least partially to blame for the fact that they attacked us on September 11th.

I honestly cannot get over the amount of bravado it takes for this man to make such statements in light of what he has said about the United States. If Feisal Abdul Rauf was intent on building bridges between the United States and the non-radicalized Muslim world he would be the one to show a little caring and understanding about this issue. He should take into account how the families of the people who died  on September 11th feel.

But instead of extending an olive branch of his own he has decided to antagonize those that oppose the mosque on this site by claiming that we are the ones who are insensitive. He has gone on the attack by claiming that people who oppose this mosque are Islamophobes, yet he is the one that has shown that he views America with contempt. And he is deliberately planning this mosque on this site to settle a score that he has with America.

I could not agree with Feisal Abdul Rauf more. How many Muslim non combative citizens have died at the hands of America? Far more then at the hands of al-Qaeda.
I find Glenn Becks rhetoric more disturbing.

I don’t know. How many? What is the source for your numbers? What were the times and circumstances under which the deaths occurred? In the end, is this number (whatever it may be) supposed to excuse al Qaeda’s actions? Or, is it simply to help us understand why they are so riled up against us?

Maybe you miss the point of the statements the ambassador is making. America, deny it all you want, (maybe you can sleep better) has killed far more civilians (mostly Muslim) in the 2 recent wars (Iraq, Afghanistan) then al-Qaeda has in their existence. Let alone the total number of Muslims America has killed in it’s existence. Conservative (I caution to use that word) numbers put civilians death in the Iraq war well over 50k.
This does not excuse anyone, nor does this number explain an irrational persons actions.

      Really? Glen Beck?
Are you serious, does the thought of your wife or girlfriend being murdered by her family in an Honor killing disturb you? How about cutting off child’s limbs? Or death by stoning? Or being hanged if you are gay?
The rhetoric? Explain please.…. things like “freedom” Justice, liberty, honor? This rhetoric frightens you….
You see when Glenns version of honor is being trustworthy and honorable.
I’m sure you understand what the honor in “honor killing” means don’t you?

You can’t be serious; sharia is completely anti American anti freedom and anyone who thinks its ok and uses the first amendment to justify this has their head on backwards. When will you destructive idiots wake up and understand actual heroes are dying in shitsville so you can continue to act like dipshits FREELY.
Killing the very ass backwards thinking cult member Stone Age murderers you defend.
I have no problem the spilling of their blood if it helps preserve the freedoms we enjoy for my children, their children and their children’s children.

He finds Glenn Beck disturbing because he is afraid of the truth, Sam wants to look the other way and hope it will all go away.

Wow. You’re becoming a troll magnet, Steve. I would say that it’s a product of your quality work.

I haven’t had the chance to review his full remarks as of yet, but it isn’t looking too well for him, is it?

What I am getting so far is the classic leftist attack. We point out what the guy is saying…they call us racists. Yet, they are free to advocate for the genocide of Jews (with help from our left). We point out what radical islamists actually do, and we’re lying. (forget all the documented suicide bombings, honor killings, discrimination against women, murder of homosexuals, stoning of women, female genital mutilation, and the like).

When you start drawing anti-American loons and trolls, you KNOW you have hit the BIG TIME…

Sam asks: ” How many Muslim non combative citizens have died at the hands of America?”

    Fred answers: Not nearly enough!

First, let me address what the good Iman is saying about the country who has graciously allowed him to live within it’s borders, with all the freedoms that go with it. If he hates us so much, why does he not go back to his home country? He could at least try to show a little respect while he is here.

Now, let me address what Sam Moore has said. Need I remind you sir, that it was radical Muslims who killed so many innocent men, women, and children on 9/11? Trying to blame America for that is like trying to blame her for the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. They were the ones that started this war, not America.

So true Larry, they started a war and now we are supposed to be the bad guys for defending ourselves? In war sometimes innocent people sie. When I see people ike this I wonder if we could have won WWII, after all we were bombing Berlin, we could never get away with anything like that today and I think our enemy knows this.

Instead of trying to find all the crimes and bad things that the United States has done to the Muslim world, maybe we should take a look at how many Muslims the United States has liberated over the years. From Kosovo to Iraq, America has liberated millions of Muslims from the oppressive hands of tyrants. I mean Sad H gassed 100,000s of his own people. This doesn’t include the countless number he murdered during his invasion of Iran and then Kuwait. America was invited by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to defend it from a possible attack from Iraq. A UN mandate permitted us to expel Iraq from Kuwait. Before we bash the United States, maybe we should take a critical look at what Muslims have done to Muslims instead shooting from the hip. Thanks for the post Steve.

That is a great point John, this is a part of the story that the blame America crowd doesn’t want to acknowledge.

George W Bush will be remembered well by history- his bringing democracy to the heart of the ME is a game changer, and everybody interested in reality knows it.

Saddam on the other hand will be remembered as an unloved, incompetent Hitler- but American apologists will surely continue to blather on, basically in defense of his vile regime

And Sam Moore- if you think the Imam makes so much sense, go to his mosque and tell him all bout it… better yet go to Mecca, because we are at war with radical Islam, and people die in wars- but we didn’t start it, dude… but real Americans are still up for finishing the job.

Good luck propping up Obama- your side is headed for a shellacking the likes of which this country’s never seen, just 9 wks now. Keep bashing America though, that’ll help LOL

I think GWB will be remembers better by the history books than he is now, unless of course, the history books give credit to Barack Obama for ending the Iraq war because he followed President Bush’s timetable.

I honestly don’t think President Bush’s experiment with democracy in the middle east will be successful, because the society there was massively ill-prepared for it. Check out the history of democratic self-rule and you’ll see that a people must have a foundation for it, and the foundation doesn’t include slavish adherence to religious dogma and fanatical leaders. As long as the leaders themselves view election as an excuse to hunt down and slaughter opponents, democracy isn’t really working.

Sam, you don’t get it. Once AQ attacked us, they painted a bullseye on their foreheads – how can it be any other way? How does the Koran advise that a nation treat its attackers?

Some may say that a Christian nation shouldn’t respond to violence with violence, but I disagree with them. Jesus Himself advised His followers to arm themselves, and don’t try to fool yourself by thinking that He told them to get swords so they could hunt. Have you ever tried to hunt down and kill a rabbit or a boar with a sword? No, the good Lord understands the human need for self-defense.

You’re concerned about Muslim civilians killed in our pursuit of AQ. I lay those deaths at the feet of Al Quaeda, a cowardly band of insecure and intolerant bigots throwing a massive temper tantrum and apparently determined to bring down as many people with it as possible.

As further proof that AQ is responsible for those civilian deaths, let’s not forget that when they send out someone else’s kid with a suicide bomb, they rarely target American troops, but nearly always they target crowds of innocent civilian Muslims. Or are you going to suggest that we Americans drove them to kill their own? That’s a game played by the warped immature – “See what you made me do?”

I see plenty wrong with America, and regulars here will tell you that I’m not shy about sharing my thoughts, but to suggest that America, and not Al Quaeda, is responsible for much of the destruction and death in the middle east, is ludicrous.

Here’s a prediction – if (when?) Israel loses patience with the murderous thugs running Iran and destroys the drone- and bomb-making plants Iran is so proud of, we’re going to see countless posts from the professional hand-wringers blaming Israel and America for Iran’s barbarity and repression.

Hey, I hope everyone’s on the way to having an awesome week, and may God bless us all!

      Agreed, Georgia.

There would not be so many Iraqi civilians killed in battle had not the insurgents and AQ hidden behind the skirts of the women.

It is their little trick of hiding in the general public that has brought bombs down on them.
