Charlie Rangel lashes out at Barack Obama’s “dignity” remark

August 24, 2010

Barack Obama has learned quite a bit from Joe Biden–every time he opens his mouth he sticks his foot in it. The latest example of Barack Obama’s “open mouth, insert foot” disease comes from the comment he made regarding Charlie Rangel’s indictment on corruption charges when he stated that it was time for Charlie Rangel to “end his career with dignity.”

I happen to agree with Barack Obama, it is beyond time for Charlie Rangel to end his career.

However, Barack Obama was supposed to be the great uniter–the man that would bring the country together. Not only has Barack Obama not united the country, he is in the process of dividing his own party. And now Charlie Rangel is the latest Democrat to lash out at the president, he is extremely upset at Barack Obama’s comments on his future.

Speaking at a candidate’s forum in Harlem Monday night, Rangel said the president hasn’t “been around long enough to determine what my dignity is.”

Charlie Rangel has lashed out at the fact that this president is a new comer and takes exception to the fact that Barack Obama feels that he is an authority on how others should quantify dignity.  The arrogance of both men here is astounding–Barack Obama for feeling as though he understands what Charlie Rangel should do without having any experience in Washington, and Charlie Rangel’s defiance during his ethics indictment. Both men are megalomaniacs who feel they can do no wrong.

It is obvious that Barack Obama was calling on Charlie Rangel to drop his re-election bid. It is equally obvious that he is doing it solely for political reasons–he feels that if Charlie Rangel resigns it will help the Democrat party in the mid-term elections. He doesn’t care about Charlie Rangel’s problems and he doesn’t care if Charlie Rangel is guilty or not, he only cares about ensuring that Democrats have the best chance they  can of holding onto the Congress.

Again, I cannot state it emphatically enough, I am not defending Charlie Rangel here, and I agree with Barack Obama’s assessment of Charlie Rangel’s situation. It is time for him to step down. But I just can’t help but smile when I watch the Democrats continue to implode after all of the successes they have had in recent years. And I have to wonder how Barack Obama is supposed to unite the country while he is driving a wedge between himself and other members of his party.

It has been fun to watch.

    Steve,

I have been following your blog for some time now and just wanted to take a minute to compliment you on the content. Excellent. I have recommended your site to several of my friends and will continue to do so.

On the Charlie Rangel thing….yes, it is fun to watch the Democrats beat each other and themselves up. Almost getting to be like the three stooges…..

Thanks again for a great blog.

    Mike

Same to ya, Barack. Someone should stick a fork in your rump roast. You’re done.
