Barack Obama complains about Republicans treating him “like a dog” Part 2: A response to the cries of racism and intolerance

September 8, 2010

Yesterday I wrote a post about Barack Obama whining that Republicans were treating him “like a dog.” In this post I wrote about the fact that while Barack Obama has taken some criticism from his opponents over the last two years, it pales in comparison to the criticism that President Bush faced during his entire eight years as president, and even before he was sworn in.

The main point of that post was to draw the stark contrast between the way President Bush handled his critics and the way Barack Obama has handled his critics. My point being that President Bush never once stooped to the level of his critics–putting the office of the president above such slander–while Barack Obama continues to denigrate the office of the president by allowing himself to engage in the politics of the gutter.

It goes without saying that people had to reply to that post by stating that the critics of Barack Obama are racists who oppose the man because of his color and not because of his policies. This is not the first time that I have been called a racist and it will probably not be the last, but this argument is pure fallacy and I believe that the people spouting this nonsense know it is fallacy.

John Doe was the first commenter to play the race card when he stated: “After many months of watching, it does appear the republicans can not handle a man as president who is not the same race.” But in his very next sentence he seems to delude his argument when he states: “Each time the president present various bills to help the people the republicans fight against it,” indicating that the Republicans are actually opposing Barack Obama’s policies.

I have decided to take the advice from Larry over at Political Realities and ask John Doe, or anyone else for that matter, to please show me one example of anything that I have written that is in the least bit racist and not issues oriented.

Next came the following so very well articulated comment from questionman: “Claiming George Bush took criticism. what a load of crap. Saying this is the same treatment as bush is like saying opposition towards Obama is NOT fueled by racism.”

On the race card issue, I refer questionman to the aforementioned challenge. But what really struck me about questionman’s comment was the fact that he considers it a “load of crap” that I had the nerve to claim that President Bush took any criticism.

Then along came nooneofanyimport, with the video proof of some of the hatred that was geared towards President Bush and I have decided to post it below. The video includes a rap song that was written about President Bush, be warned, there is quite a bit of foul language in the song.

At one pont the video shows a protester holding up a beheaded President Bush, another scene shows a lynched President Bush, while many other signs call for the killing of the president.

Questionman asked me if President Bush’s loyalty was ever questioned, you saw the video, what do you think? One protest sign declared that President Bush was killing the constitution, while another proclaimed him King George, and yet another claimed he was setting up the Fourth Reich.

Then there is the child holding up the sign that calls George Bush a mass murderer, but my favorite image might be the one which declares that the September 11th attacks were President Bush’s Reichstag fire.

While the media is trying to portray the people in the Tea Party movement as violent racists, there is one thing that remains true; at no time during any of the Tea Parties did the people ever resort to the level of personal criticism that was seen in that video.

President Bush took more criticism than possibly any other modern day president, yet he did not cry or whine about it because he felt it was beneath the office. Barack Obama is now facing criticism–though not nearly at the level that President Bush did–and he continues to whine about it. This is unpresidential to say the least.

Barack Obama is thin skinned and he cannot handle the criticism that has come his way. His supporters go out of their way to try to marginalize his critics through name calling but this is nothing but a convenient excuse and a diversion from the real issue–Barack Obama doesn’t know what he is doing. He could learn a thing or two about dealing with criticism by following the example set by George W Bush.

    Thanks for the link, Steve.

Concerning the challenge you have issued, I will make a prediction. No one will take you up on it. I issued the challenge several times during the 2008 campaign and not one example could be found. Those who accused me of racism finally figured out the race card was not the right tact to take.

You are welcome. I think you are right, nobody will take up my challenge but that won’t stop them from throwing out these charges again.

    Just who is the racist?

Playing the race card is racism in itself. The liberal who plays the race card is bringing race into a debate. The liberal finds himself losing a debate so he realizes the only choice he has is to bring race into the picture. He uses race as his weapon.

It is always the liberal who brings race into the debate, that is something that I have noticed also.

“He uses race as a weapon”
That is a great way to put it!

Dude! Thanks for the link! The funny thing is where I found that video. I was perusing TeaPartyTracker.org (Soros’ latest gag) and their Flickr group. Which is supposed to have photos of “tea party extremism.” What a lame collection. And the majority of commenters were tea party types, including the Washington is Broke.com guy, who created the video and linked it right there in the left’s own Flickr group.

    Snicker.

You are welcome! As soon as I watched the video I realized that I had to use it to refute the argument made by questionman, it was too perfect! Thank you for sharing it!

Isn’t one of the rules of radicals to assassinate character in order to undermine logical argument? If someone successfully besmirches your reputation (correct or not), your points mean less. This is part of the playbook they have been taught.

If your argument is without racist tones, and someone quickly injects race as a factor, you can simply conclude their intellect is lacking.

It certainly is. They have lost the argument and because of this they go on the attack. I had no choice but to fire back at them.

Rare to see you do it, but not at all inappropriate, or unfounded. I always found you made effort NOT to say anything that could possibly be construed as racist.

Thanks LOUDelf, after awhile I get tired of defending myself against these accusations and I thought this was the proper time to address the issue in a post. The left is losing this debate so they fall back on the race card, it is a crutch for them. They use it when all else fails.

All of this is classic Alinsky. Distract, attack, ridicule.

I wonder if they realize that these attacks are falling on deaf ears?

Yes, dogs are loyal, people pleasers. According to the polls, Obama is no dog, regardless of the Jimmy Hendrix reference!

But he called himself a mutt once, he seems to like to think of himself like a dog. The self pity angle is getting old.
