Harry Reid shows up at a clean energy summit in a fleet of SUVs

September 15, 2010

Harry Reid sponsored an event on September 10th called the National Clean Energy Summit. This event was also cosponsored by the leftist group Center for American Progress.

Needless to say, this event was designed to raise awareness about global warming and to speak out against the evils of oil and coal, while singing the praises of renewable energy. Harry Reid also spoke at this event assuring the radical environmentalists that he was one of them.

But Harry Reid just doesn’t always live up to the same standards that he wants to impose on the rest of the people of the United States and this was one of those times. Harry Reid and his minions pulled up to the event in a fleet of SUVs.

John Edwards once famously said that there were two Americas, and he was absolutely right.

But the two Americas are not divided along the lines that he envisioned, but rather the two Americas are divided between the elitist, self serving ruling class statists and the people with whom they wish to impose their world views.

The hypocrisy is glaring. The American people have been told by Barack Obama that we cannot heat our houses at 72 degrees, we can’t eat whatever we want, and we cannot drive our SUVs, yet when he had the chance to lead by example, he refused to have solar panels installed on the roof of the White House. He expects us to live one way so that he can live another, and to help him alleviate the guilt of the double standard that he is living I am sure that he will buy bogus carbon offset so that someone else can plant a few trees for him. This is the penance he will serve in order to absolve his sins against the earth.

Harry Reid is living the same double standard as Barack Obama; Harry Reid supports cap and trade in order to save the planet from global warming, but he doesn’t even have to common courtesy to curtail his energy use while attending a convention on that very subject–and we are supposed to take him seriously on this issue?

Yes, there are two Americas, and it is exactly this type of double standard that the American people are sick and tired of. The statists love to tell us how we are supposed to live; they are perfectly willing to snuff out more and more of our freedoms and personal liberties but they are unwilling to live by the same rules that they are ready to impose on us.

They look like government vehicles to me, not Reid’s POV, though I could be mistaken. the Majority Leader gets taken from here to there a lot.

I suppose they could have bought a fleet of hybrids, but imagine the howls of protest from the anti-administration crowd if they’d done that just to appease the greens. Just think of the howls of anguish over the spending of all that money to replace cars whose useful life hadn’t been exhausted!

This seems like a damned if they do, damned if they don’t moment.

You think Obama and Reid are hypocritical, check out these quotes from world leading figures including Ted Turner, who collectively with the ownership of media and other influence, have far more power than anyone in the world including Obama.

    Disclosure: Reid is a @$$%@!&.

That being said, part of his transportation is security-related, not only to contain armor, but also bodies. It’s difficult do accomplish this in a Smart Car. I give him a pass this time, but believe in general, he falls directly in-line with TexasFred’s characterization.
