John Holdren on global warming: “we should call it global climate disruption”

September 15, 2010

Radical environmentalist statists have been trying to rebrand global warming since it became known that the earth has actually entered a natural cooling cycle–this little fact threw quite a crimp in their argument–so they replaced the name global warming with the term global climate change. This way they could make the asinine claim that the earth cooling is actually proof that the earth is warming.

The radical environmentalist statists also found this rebranding of terms useful because they could blame all sorts of different NATURAL disasters–hurricanes, floods, blizzards, earthquakes, and tornadoes–on this new phenomenon. It was a much more useful and diverse term.

Not all of those in the Obama regime are pleased with the results of either term; according to Barack Obama’s science Czar–John Holdren–the term global warming is too benevolent sounding. Last week, at the Kavli Prize Science Forum, he stated the following:

Global warming’ is a (dangerous) misnomer. That term implies something …uniform across the planet, mainly about temperature, gradual, quite possibly benign. What’s actually happening is… highly nonuniform, not just about temperature, rapid compared to capacities for adjustment, harmful for most places and times. We should call it ‘global climate disruption.’

He feels that the term global warming isn’t scary enough to jar the American people into action, so he is looking to rebrand the argument once again in an attempt to frighten the American people. Global climate disruption sounds much more threatening.

The global warming argument is falling apart all around them. From the earth entering a NATURAL cooling cycle to the Climategate scandal, the agenda of the radical environmentalists has been falling apart, so what is their reaction?

Instead of building an argument based on facts to present to the American people proof that the earth really is warming at an alarming rate, they decide to repackage the global warming fraud in a new propaganda effort.

The global warming thing is wearing thin. It’s not about climate change, but power, money and wealth redistribution. And even if it were true there is nothing man can do about it. We can fly to the moon, but can’t say which leaf will fall first from the mighty oak on an autumn day!

You’ve got that right. Here in New England they can’t predict what the weather is going to be like in three days, yet they claim they can predict the weather 20 years out? Do these people really expect us to believe them?

ha ha ha ha ha! oh, ho these people are beyond parody now. What I mean, is, we don’t even have to make fun of them. They parody themselves now! Oh, thanks for this little tidbit.

    Priceless!

In the 70’s, it was global cooling. That didn’t work out too well.

In the 80’s to just recently, it was global warming. That didn’t w0rk out either.

Now, it’s Climate Change. That way, they can justify a power/money grab no matter what happens.

    ROFLMAO! Well…

I’ve seen this article in a number of places, and recall the comment that “Global Climate Disruption” will be harder to ridicule than “Global Warming.”

    Wanna bet? ROFLMAO!

    “Global warming… uh, I mean climate change, uh… I mean…”

The simple fact that they have to keep changing the name of the problem to make the “facts” fit is cause for ridicule all by itself!

    Sounds like a combo of reframing the argument and moving the goalposts… or, something like that. Anyway, everybody knows it’s just “El Nino”. ;-}

Moving the goalposts is another great way to term what they are doing here. “Everytime I know the answer, they change the question” also seems to fit what is going on in the global warming argument.

Is the Proposed Trans Global Highway a solution for population concerns and global warming?
One tremendous solution to future population concerns as well as alleviating many of the effects of potential global warming is the proposal for the construction of the “Trans Global Highway”. The proposed Trans Global Highway would create a world wide network of standardized roads, railroads, water pipe lines, oil and gas pipelines, electrical and communication cables. The result of this remarkable, far sighted project will be global unity through far better distribution of resources, including including heretofore difficult to obtain or unaccessible raw materials, fresh water, finished products and vastly lower global transportation costs.
With greatly expanded global fresh water distribution, arid lands could be cultivated resulting in a huge abundance of global food supplies. The most conservative estimate is that with the construction of the Trans Global Highway, the planet will be able to feed between 14 and 16 Billion people, just using presently available modern farming technologies. With a present global population of just under 7 billion people and at the United Nations projection of population increase, the world will produce enough food surpluses to feed the expected increased population for the next 425 years. Thomas Robert Malthus’s famous dire food shortage predictions of 1798 failed to take into consideration modern advances in farming, transportation, food storage and food abundance. Further information on the proposed Trans Global Highway can be found at http://www.TransGlobalHighway.com .
