Kelly Ayotte defeats Ovide Lamontagne; now it’s on to the general election

September 15, 2010

After a long and hard fought campaign Kelly Ayotte was declared the victor over Ovide Lamontagne earlier this afternoon. This election was about as close as can be, with Kelly Ayotte winning by about 1,600 votes.

This election was close enough to allow Ovide Lamontagne to ask for a recount but at about 4:00 today Ovide Lamontagne addressed his supporters and declared that he would “accept the verdict of the people” and would not ask for  a recount.

I believe that in our American republic, the people are the sovereign. That means the people are the king, and we are their subjects” Lamontagne said. “Well, the people of Hew Hampshire have spoken and they have ruled. While I’m disappointed with the result, I humbly accept their verdict

Ovide Lamontagne exited the campaign in the same manner in which he joined the campaign–with dignity and class, and I am proud to have supported him and his campaign. Ovide Lamontagne stayed above the fray and never once resorted to negative campaigning. I will follow Ovide Lamontagne wherever he decides to go. And today he announced that he would continue to fight for conservatives in the state of New Hampshire; the first step in this fight will be his endorsement and support of Kelly Ayotte against the liberal, out of touch Paul Hodes.

Ovide announced that he would transition into the general election and will attend Kelly Ayotte’s victory party to help begin the fight to defeat Paul Hodes and I will also follow him and fight to help Kelly Ayotte in her battle against a Nancy Pelosi rubber stamp–Paul Hodes.

The early polls are encouraging–Kelly Ayotte holds a lead over Paul Hodes of  47 to 43 percent with 9% undecided. It is critical that Paul Hodes be defeated at all costs and Kelly Ayotte is in a good starting position to do just that.

Paul Hodes has already gone on the attack claiming that Kelly Ayotte is “an extreme right wing candidate out of step with mainstream New Hampshire voters.”  He also claimed that he would be “an independent voice for the people of New Hampshire.”

I find both the assertion that Kelly Ayotte is out of touch with the voters of New Hampshire, and his claim that he would be an independent voice laughable. It is Paul Hodes who is out of touch with New Hampshire voters and he has been anything but an independent voice in Washington–voting with the extreme liberal agenda of Nancy Pelosi and the Obama regime well over 90% of the time.

He must know how vulnerable it is for a politician these days to be associated with the Obama regime so he is trying to distance himself from Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi, but his voting record stands there for all of us to see. He can not hide from his votes, and in November he will not be able to hide from the voters.

What a contrast with Delaware! You guys have someone special up there in Lamontagne. Contrast that with how Castle behaved in Delaware.

The difference, I think, is class…Castle has none.

Very classy move. Unlike Alaska and Delaware.

Lamontagne sounds like a fine man and as Matt and John as said, he has class. That’s a rare commodity in politics. Hopefully, he can help Ayotte defeat Hodes and remove one more vote that can be counted on by Pelosi and company.

Matt, John, and Larry: in defeat Ovide Lamontagne showed exactly why I reaaly wanted to see this man become my next senator. He says what he believes, he is honest, and in the end he did the right thing. I hope to see more from Ovide in the future!
