ABC Anchorman fired for mentioning Barack Obama’s ties to BP
Back when the BP oil spill was the topic of the day we learned the interesting FACT that Barack Obama received more donations from BP than any other presidential candidate in history–including George W Bush, the man who the left claimed was closer to big oil than any of his predecessors.
Doug McKelway–an ABC anchorman–mentioned this FACT on a local broadcast and he was immediately confronted by his boss–news director Bill Lord–who disagreed with McKelway’s portrayal of Barack Obama’s big oil contributors. This confrontation became heated and eventually Doug McKelway was indefinitely suspended.
Last Friday it was announced that Doug McKelway was fired. Officially he was fired for insubordination, but what he was really fired for was for not toeing the official line of the Obama regime and the template laid out by the ministry of propaganda–otherwise known as the liberal media.
Here is an account of the report that led to the firing of Doug McKelway:
In his piece, McKelway said the sparsely attended event attracted protesters “largely representing far-left environmental groups.” He went on to say the protest “may be a risky strategy because the one man who has more campaign contributions from BP than anybody else in history is now sitting in the Oval Office, President Barack Obama, who accepted $77,051 in campaign contributions from BP.”
After a brief taped segment updating efforts to cap the BP well, McKelway added that the Senate was unlikely to pass “cap-and-trade” legislation this year, because “the Democrats are looking at the potential for huge losses in Congress come the midterm elections. And the last thing they want to do is propose a huge escalation in your electric bill, your utility bill, before then.”
Doug McKelway mentioned that the people protesting BP were far left environmentalists–this is certainly the truth and comes as no surprise to anybody.
He also mentioned that the Democrat controlled Congress would be unlikely to pass any cap and trade legislation because it would increase energy costs shortly before an election; this is also undeniable and true. But the fact that cap and trade legislation would increase taxes on ALL Americans–contrary to Barack Obama’s promise not to raise ANY taxes on Americans making under $250,000– is something that the media is unwilling to report, so it is likely that this is part of the reason for McKelway’s firing.
But the most egregious mistake that Doug McKelway made was to mention the campaign contributions from BP. This is something that the media has gone out of its way to ignore.
Between reporting the FACTS that cap and trade legislation would raise energy rates and that Barack Obama loves to take big oil contributions, Doug McKelway sealed his own fate because the propaganda arm of the Obama regime was never going to let a man get away unchecked with telling the truth.
This is what happens when a member of the media reports the facts about the Obama regime that are not part of the approved message. A reporter’s job is to REPORT a story but the truth is that today’s media is more interested in trying to prop up Barack Obama’s failed presidency than they are about delivering the truth to the American people. This is a perfect example of what happens to a member of the unofficial propaganda arm of this regime if they dare to tell the people the truth.

This certainly does give one pause to think. I could see this happening if what the reporter said was blatantly untrue, but for him to be fired because it was the truth? That’s pretty sad. It tells volumes about the mentality of today’s media and what their goals really are.
