Barney Frank loans his campaign $200,000

October 28, 2010

Barney Frank

The polls show Barney Frank with anywhere from a ten to twelve point lead over his opponent, Sean Bielat. This would seem like a safe lead for any incumbent politician to enjoy, but is it? Barney Frank must not think so because in the closing days of the campaign he has loaned himself $200,ooo.

He claims that he was forced to do this in order to fight off attacks from outside groups, but he had much more money than his unknown opponent so there must be more to this story than Barney Frank’s spin. After all, aren’t all candidates the “victims” of outside attacks? This is nothing new but it seems to provide Barney Frank some cover from the truth.

The truth is that Barney Frank is one of the people who is the most responsible for the current recession with his failure to see the fact that Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were in trouble when he opposed President Bush’s attempt to more strictly regulate these two institutions. I wrote about this issue here when it was learned that Barney Frank was accepting campaign donations from bailed out financial institutions (outside money?), and people may actually be ready to hold Barney Frank accountable for his lack of insight into the problems that led to the current state of the economy.

I believe that this race is closer than the polls indicate and I believe that Barney Frank knows that he is indeed vulnerable. We are talking about a Massachusetts politician who is entrenched in the political machine and has never faced a serious threat in any of his re-election bids, but now he has to loan his campaign money? Something is in the air here, oh what a glorious day it would be on November 3rd if we awoke to the news that Barney Frank was defeated!

This may have seemed like a pipe dream not all that long ago, but I have to think that this may be closer to a reality than Barney Frank cares to admit!

“I won’t take any PAC money from banks that took TARP funds, nor would I take it from the top executive.”

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee in February 2009

Fast forward to the present. According to the Boston Herald , Frank has “raked in more than $40,000 from bank execs and special interests connected to the staggering government loans. In all Frank has hauled in at least $27,000 since 2009 from bank execs — and $13,000 from PACs — connected to banks that received TARP funding.”

Desperate times call for desperate measures I guess! These are both signs that Barney Frank could be in trouble!

Barney Frank is a cross between Elmer Fudd and Porky Pig…only gayer.

he he he! I would love to wake up to an early Christmas present and discover that POOF Reid, Pelosi, Boxer, and Barney are gone! Oh what a glorious day that would be indeed.

    And…it might just happen….

Makes me wonder how close this race is really going to be. I imaging Barney Frank is fit to be tied, being that he usually walks all over his opponent. I really hope he loses this race.

I think this race has to be closer than 10 points. I rank Barney Frank right up there with Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi on my most wanted list.

I think the polls are wrong and this race is much much closer. Barney knows he is in trouble and he know that he is facing a strong opponent. He is starting to panic a bit. What a gift it would be if he lost. Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus…

I agree, there is a reason he is scared and I think his internals are quite a bit closer than the latest polls show.

This guy should be removed from office just for his negligence in the Fannie and Freddie meltdown. You could even debate jail time for this clown.

I read that story the other day. It is a good sign his campaign is running into troubles but if he is voted out (unlikely I think) it will simply be for the fact of how long he’s been in office, not for his country-wrecking support of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which the press has given him a pass for despite his best efforts to show he is corrupt.

I don’t think he is going to lose either, but if he does you are probably right when you say it won’t be because of his support of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae because I don’t think his constiuents care about that. But whatever the reason for his defeat, it will be fine with me!

What is wrong with MA voters? Get Frank out of there, before he causes more damage! He is right up there towards the front of the conga line in the march toward socialism. Barney, the bank doesn’t print the money or pick it off a tree, didn’t anyone ever tell you that?

What, there is no money tree? Barney Frank wouldn’t know about that. Remember when his boyfriend got busted for growing pot and Barney claimed that he didn’t know what pot looked like because he wasn’t an outdoorsman? He probably does think there is a money tree.
