Barack Obama edited a report to justify his drilling moratorium in the Gulf following the BP oil spill
This story is now a few days old and I apologize for not getting to it in a more timely manner, but I feel that this is too big of a story to not write about even if I am a little late in doing so. What story am I talking about? I am talking about this article which claims that Barack Obama “edited” a report on the safety of drilling for oil in the Gulf of Mexico following the BP oil spill in an attempt to justify his six month drilling moratorium in the Gulf.
The latest complaint from scientists comes in a report by the Interior Department’s inspector general, which concluded that the White House edited a drilling safety report in a way that made it falsely appear that scientists and experts supported the administration’s six-month ban on new deep-water drilling
It appears as if Barack Obama’s drilling moratorium in the Gulf was not based on the initial report, but rather in an edited version of the report. Barack Obama–or someone within his regime–altered the report so that Barack Obama could move forward on his ideologically based agenda rather than relying on science or what the original, unedited report found in its conclusion, while at the same time justifying the moratorium based on the conclusions of the edited report.
We believe the report does not justify the moratorium as written, and that the moratorium as changed will not contribute measurably to increased safety and will have immediate and long-term economic effects,” the scientists wrote earlier this year to Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Sens. Mary Landrieu and David Vitter. “The secretary should be free to recommend whatever he thinks is correct, but he should not be free to use our names to justify his political decisions
Officials in the Obama regime deny that the report was purposely altered in a manner that would support the drilling moratorium and they claim that the Obama regime did not intentionally mislead the American people when the drilling moratorium was ordered, but that does not change the fact that the report used to justify Barack Obama’s drilling moratorium was altered. Whether or not this was a deliberate attempt to mislead the American people, the fact remains that this report was altered by someone in the Obama regime and on that news alone we have the grounds for an investigation into this issue.
While Darrell Issa is claiming that he may investigate hundreds of issues surrounding the Obama regime, I am not one who believes the Republicans should investigate every single issue in an attempt to bring this president down. I feel that if the House gets mired in countless baseless or trivial investigations at the expense of moving forward on more important issues the country will suffer, and so will the Republicans because they will come off as petty politicians who more concerned with bringing down a sitting president when they should be focusing on solutions to the problems that ordinary Americans are suffering through everyday.
Having said that, I do feel that there should be some investigations into the Obama regime when legitimate questions arise, and if this new report is true and Barack Obama altered a report in order to push forward with an ideological agenda instead of doing what is best for the country that this is an issue that should be investigated.
If Barack Obama did not intentionally mislead the American people on the severity of the BP oil spill he should welcome the investigation as an opportunity to clear his name. If however, he is found to have purposely mislead the American people on this issue in order to push his ideology than the American people should know the truth and Barack Obama should suffer the consequences of his deception.
If Barack Obama cannot be trusted to adhere to a report on the BP oil spill because this report would have hurt his agenda, there is no telling what other reports he is willing to misrepresent. If Barack Obama would knowingly alter the reports of an oil spill, what other reports may he be willing to alter in order to justify his personal beliefs? If Barack Obama is not willing to tell the truth about an oil spill how can he be trusted on ANY issue moving forward?

Reminds me of a quote by another Leftist:
The end may justify the means as long as there is something that justifies the end.

I think that basically sums it all up!

I agree with you that not everything can be investigated. I wouldn’t be effective.

It wouldn’t be effective and I think it would also hurt the Republicans in 2012 if people think that they are not doing enough moving forward.
