Mark Ruffalo placed on terror watch list for supporting a documentary on natural gas

November 30, 2010

I am really beginning to wonder what the hell is going on in this country! We have the Department of Homeland Security and ICE seizing and shutting down websites for copyright infringement–expanding the power of both of these agencies far beyond what the original scope of their authority was, without the okay from the Congress–while WikiLeaks is a threat to national security and  is allowed continue its operation. And now we have an actor–Mark Ruffalo–being placed on a terror watch list because he organized screenings for a new documentary about natural gas.

I have to admit that I have no idea who  Mark Ruffalo is, I had never even heard of him before I read this story, but he is obviously a leftist environmentalist and while normally I would not come to the defense of someone like him, I have to wonder what he did that would place him in suspicion with the Department of Homeland Security.

The propaganda documentary which Ruffalo was promoting is an anti-natural gas film in which the person filming the documentary travels to various places in the United State where drilling for natural gas has occurred and reports on the negative effects that the drilling has had on the water supplies around the drilled out out areas.

I watched the trailer for this film–it is included in the link I provided above–and apparently the scene is question is a scene where a man turns on the water from his kitchen faucet, holds a lighter to the water, and is able to set the water on fire. I still can’t figure out how this one scene could possible land Mark Ruffalo on the terrorist watch list.

This documentary–from what I can tell–poses no threat to national security whatsoever, I cannot even claim that this is being done for political reasons because this is an issue in which I believe Barack Obama and Mark Ruffalo see eye to eye on. So why is this man being placed on a watch list?

We are living in an age where the Department of Homeland Security refuses to even use the word terrorism for fear of offending the terrorists, yet we have an actor who is placed on a watch list simply for promoting an environmental documentary. It would seem to me that this regime wants to control the message and is not interested in letting any outside organizations or individuals get the message out there, even if the regime agrees with the message.

When asked about being placed on the terrorist watch list Mark Ruffalo held no ill feelings, in fact he said he finds it “pretty fuckin’ funny.” I would find it funny also except when you think about how serious this is. If the regime is trying to shut down free speech in an effort to control the message I don’t think there is anything funny about it!

The Department of Homeland Security is targeting people who pose no direct threat to the national security of the United States while at the same time ignoring those (WikiLeaks) that do. As I said at the beginning of this post, I have no idea what the hell is going on in this country anymore. The Department of Homeland Security seems to have its priorities in the wrong place.

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Conservative bloggers like us were on some list somewhere… Seriously…

I would guess that we are. I think it is only a matter of time before Homeland Security expands they websites they are shutting down for copyright infringements, and I am sure we will be the targets.

Is it possible do you think that this might be tied to the discovery in Texas of radio active material in the drinking water?

There is something going on with the Natural Gas thing. Pravda had posted a story how the US would soon be the leader in Nat Gas exports. We are now exporting it into Europe. Soon to be revealed in time I guess.
