House Republicans disband the “Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming”
One of the first things that Republicans did after being sworn in as the majority party in the House of Representatives was to put an end to Nancy Pelosi’s global warming committee–The Select Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming. We first heard that this was a possibility shortly after the November election which saw Republicans gain control of the House of Representatives, and yesterday the Republicans made good on that promise.
The Select Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming was nothing more than a propaganda tool for the left to promote their radical cap and trade agenda, and with the ClimateGate scandal revealing global warming to be nothing more than the hoax many of us thought it was–and with the Senate unable to pass Barack Obama’s cap and trade legislation–there simply was no need for this committee any longer.
While this is a step in the right direction, this doesn’t mean that we have dodged the cap and trade bullet because Barack Obama has long since moved on to “Plan B.” He intends to let the EPA regulate into law the very same policies which the Congress was unable to pass. While the dismantling of this propagandist entity is a step in the right direction it is symbolic at best because the EPA has already made its first move toward implementing Barack Obama’s liberty and freedom killing cap and trade legislation. Now the new Congress must focus on passing legislation which bars the EPA from moving forward on cap and trade, or else the disbanding of the Committee for Energy Independence and Global Warming will mean absolutely nothing.

First step in the right direction.

You have to start somewhere and this looks to be the logical place.

Wow. It is so good to hear some good news! It is most definitely a step in the right direction. I pray that this will be the first step of many more!

Hopefully this will just be the beginning!

It might be worthless and symbolic, but damn I love it!

For some reason, so do I!

Now guys, they could have kept it and named it more accurately. Maybe the Fairy Tale Committee? They can have the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and the Tooth Fairy testify about Globull warming! I’d watch that!

There was talk that they would keep it in order to use it to show that global warming has been a scam but decided against it.

Definitely a huge step in the right direction…now let’s see if we can defund the EPA and FCC for going around congress. That would bring a smile to my face. Great post.

Defunding the FCC and the EPA may be the only thing that they can do, I wonder if they will go for it.

I think it’s more than symbolic. Republicans can put this on the list of accomplishments. They have the support of the majority on this one.

Since ClimateGate support for cap and trade has plummeted so maybe you are right, but I still think that they need to go after the EPA hard on this issue.

I agree with you, Steve. The EPA has to be put on a very short leash. If that can only be done by defunding, so be it.

Personally, I think they should have kept the committee, renamed it, and give it a new mandate. Something like the Committee to Control the EPA? Sounds good to me.

That would have worked also!

I think there should be a committee that seeks to implement laws that ensure we lose the battle for efficient energy production and protect oil and coals hold on the economy. As anyone knows, oil and coal are the true red, white and blue energy source.

Actually, nuclear is since we invented it. And since we are going with colors of flags, I guess its fitting the French love nuclear too. But of course we can’t do nuclear because Barbarella made an absolutely truth-absent movie regarding the nuclear power industry that has understandably turned the mouth-breathing, tree-hugging, generally unkempt populace’s brains into total mueslix.
You don’t still believe in global warming do you? Oh let me clarify, anthropogenic global warming – longest phrase you fig chomping, bush bikini sporting luddites have ever used in your lives. How many times does something need to be disproven before you believe it? You guys are worse than Scientologists. Give me an actual honest and accurate answer to why we shouldn’t use nuclear, or shut the hell up.
