Tennessee Democrat compares the Republicans to Nazis because of their opposition to Obamacare: What happened to civility?

January 19, 2011

In the aftermath of the Arizona shooting the media, as well as the Prima County Sheriff, blamed the vitriolic, over the top, hateful and violent rhetoric for the atmosphere which drove Jared Loughner to murder. Everyone from Sarah Palin to Glenn Beck to Rush Limbaugh to the Tea Party itself were blamed for Jared Loughner’s actions as the media and the left tried to apply a political angle to this tragedy rather than blaming the shooter himself and holding him alone as being accountable for his actions.

Many on the left called for a more civil, less hate filled debate as we moved forward in the future–even Barack Obama said that this was the time to come together and tone down the rhetoric–but apparently Tennessee Democrat Congressman Steve Cohen didn’t get the message, as he ignored the propaganda arm of the Democrat party as well as the president himself on the House floor today when he compared the Republicans to Nazis.

They say it’s a government takeover of health care, a big lie just like Goebbels,” Cohen said. “You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, and eventually, people believe it.  Like blood libel.  That’s the same kind of thing.

The Germans said enough about the Jews and people believed it–believed it and you have the Holocaust.  We heard on this floor, government takeover of health care.  Politifact said the biggest lie of 2010 was a government takeover of health care because there is no government takeover

In my first post on the Arizona shooting, I tried to make the case that the left has been more guilty than the right in the area of hate filled rhetoric over the years, and this is further proof that when the left talks about toning down the rhetoric they are not talking about equal opportunity toning down.

When the left talks about toning down the rhetoric, they are implying that the right alone needs to tone down the rhetoric, they do not believe they should follow the same rules they are asking the right to follow, and they are doing this simply because they are arrogant, condescending narcissists who believe that they are always right and shouldn’t be subjected to questioning, and they believe that any attempt by the right to disprove them is hateful. So instead of civilly debating the issues, they try to stifle debate by silencing the critics by turning the media and the American people against the right even as they feel free to engage in the type of hate-filled pandering that they accuse and condemn the right for in order to accomplish this goal.

When you hear a person like Democrat  Steve Cohen make the slanderous accusation that Republicans are comparable to Nazis simply for a policy disagreement, you can only come to the conclusion that the left feels they are above condemnation for their words. This is doubly hypocritical in light of the recent calls for civility in the aftermath of the Arizona shooting–but then again, I would expect nothing less.

They are starting to foam at the mouth. Rabid, ignorant man. And then they are all going to sit together.

Isn’t it funny how they simply cannot help themselves even after complaining about the vitriol in the first place?

Sounds like Cohen has been hanging around with Nancy Pelosi way too much. Didn’t she call the Tea Party Nazis during the debate on healthcare? They have no problem throwing accusations like that around, but if the Republicans make one small misstep, they start the wailing and gnashing of teeth. Personally, I think that tale is getting a bit old.

Yes, Nancy Pelosi also called the Tea Party Nazis. I agree this double standard is getting old, and I am not going to take it any more!

Ironic, as the Democrat and Steve Cohn’s healthcare law in it’s current form has many similarities to that in Nazi Germany. And the British and Canadian healthcare systems are proposing an overhaul, including more doctor patient involvement,. due to the prohibitive costs and poor care of nationalized healthcare.

Oh the left and their hypocrisy. He didn’t their party leader only a few days ago told them to tone it down…

“Do as I say, not as I do.” I guess that is the lesson we have learned here about the Democrat party.
