Rocky Mountain High

January 22, 2011

As regular readers here know, earlier this year I flew to St. Joseph Missouri for the company I work for to do a field installation. And as I wrote about back then, this was my first flight because I have always had a fear of flying. At that time I had had enough time to prepare myself for the flight so that when the time came I was prepared for the flight and for the two week trip, but the one thing I was not able to prepare myself for, no matter how much I tried, was the fact that I was going to be away from my family for two weeks.

Duty calls me once again to the road, this time to Boulder Colorado. I will be leaving early tomorrow morning to fly out once again to do a field installation, leaving my family behind. This time it is for only one week, I will be coming home on Friday, so my family won’t be apart nearly as long as we were the last time. But that doesn’t make it any easier to leave my loved ones behind.

I love and will miss you all.

The job that I am to perform has to be done in four days, so depending on how quickly it goes there may not be much room for blogging at night if I am forced to put in long hours on the job. I still intend to post about any important issues which may arise, but I just don’t know how much time I will have over the next week.

If I don’t see you in the blogosphere next week, I will see you all shortly. Please take care everyone and know that I am still fighting the fight even if I am not able to write about it.

Here’s to hoping that your job goes without any hitches and you can be back home with your family quickly.

I saw a commercial where the daughter just dialed up her dad on the computer, and there he was on video. Maybe you could look into something like that the next time.

Last time I went away we used Tokbox to do a little video call over the internet. It was pretty cool, maybe we will do it again.

The weather here is supposed to be in the mid forties all week, back home it is only going to be in the teens so I think I lucked out in that one regard.

As I recall, you did just fine last time; you’ll do great again this time, and it’s only a week!

Godspeed, be safe and well, and may He bless us all!

You are right, I did fine the least time and I was not afraid this time. This time I had to fly alone so my main concern was navigating my way through the airports on my own, but all went well and I am here now.

Thank you all for your warm thought and your prayers, they are appreciated more than you can ever know. I just wanted to drop a line to let everyone know that I have arrived safely with the only glitch being having TSA tear my carry on apart because I didn’t remove my netbook from its case.
I am pretty beat after a long day of travel but I am thankful to have gotten here safely.

If we were meant to fly we’d be born with tickets!

Just remember. Only those that know the pain of separation know the joy of reunion.

It is beautiful here, but I am definitely deep within “enemy” territory.

Well,………….you know………that everytime California has an earthquake, they flood to Colorado to build campfires so they can sing “Rocky Mountain High” around them in a kum by ya fellowship while stoned.
