Obamacare: Congress may investigate healthcare waivers

January 27, 2011

Yesterday we learned that the Obama regime has now issued over 700 healthcare reform law waivers which exempt certain big businesses and labor unions from the healthcare law. With all of these exemptions being granted before the law has even gone into full effect one has to wonder how good this healthcare law is in the first place, what happened to equal protection under the law, and is there anything suspicious going on between the federal government and which companies and organizations are being granted the exemptions?

Today we have this news story which shows that I am not alone in my thinking that there could be something not quite on the level with regards to who is being granted these waivers–Congress is set to open up an investigation into the federal government’s usage of these waivers.

Siting Barack Obama’s broken promise to not let the influence of special interest groups infiltrate his White House, Charles Grassley had the following to say about the 700 (and growing) waivers that the Obama regime has already issued:

You’re going to find out that by the president doing that with the secretary of HHS, he violated one of his main principles when he ran for office–and that was that special interests were not going to have an in in his administration,” said Grassley. “And this is a perfect example of special interests having an in in his administration when they get those waivers

He has vowed that while he is powerless to form an investigation in the Senate because the Democrats still hold the majority, that the House will investigate the healthcare waivers and that he would be glad to assist in any way he could.

This is welcome news indeed, it certainly seems on the surface that there are many groups which were granted the waivers which just happen to be supporters of the Democrats–teachers unions, and the SEIU being the two most prominent–and we need to find out if there is any quid pro quo involved because while these constituent groups are skirting the law, average Americans are going to get caught up in the web and will be unable to do anything about it.

Somebody needs to stand up for us and I can only hope that this story is true and the Congress will investigate the healthcare waivers. Remember, we are all supposed to have equal protection UNDER the law, but these waivers are granting certain groups protection FROM the law, and the difference couldn’t be more clear.

I’ve heard Liberals say that 123 people die each day for lack of healthcare If that’s what they believe then the people handing out waivers for Obamacare should be prosecuted for murder. OBAMA LIED, PEOPLE DIED.

Investigation is good. Bring it on. How in the world can they think this is ‘fair’ – their word, not mine?

Just a quick and simple observation. If Obamacare is such a great thing, why do so many people want a waiver? Just asking is all.

I wish I had an answer to that question Larry, but it is one that I have been asking also.

The investigation should be fun. The lefties will fight this tooth and nail. Their narratives will be histrionic!

Do they have waivers for individuals? I’d like to get one, and I have over 700 reasons why.

We are having hearings the past couple of days on a bunch of things and no one is reporting hardly anything on them. Obamacare for one where the independent auditor said it was going to cost much more than they said, and that not everyone was going to be able to keep their own health insurance. I am not so optimistic as I was. The Cabal of the press to re-elect this thief is massive.

Yes, the media is going to be in full swing mode, ignoring the investigations while promoting Obama’s agenda. Obama is going to be hard to beat in 2012 because the media is basically his PR department.

These waivers are what has had me looking at this with jaw-dropping amazement.

They spent virtually the entire time of the debate on this preposterous bill claiming that companies like McDonald’s doesn’t give their people health care. Now that the bill has been passed, it turns out that McDonald’s IS providing health care for their people, but can’t afford the NEW system. So they get a waiver.

Question: If freekin’ MCDONALD’S can’t afford this bill, how the hell can Joe’s Pizza?

The reversal on this issue is really stunning! Companies were told they had to provide minimum amounts of coverage to their employess and now the largest companies can’t afford the minimum amounts so they are granted waivers but nothing is being done for the little guy. This whole thing is a mess.
