Republicans to introduce legislation which would stop the EPA from implementing cap and trade

February 3, 2011

When the cap and trade bill fell by the wayside in the Congress last year, Barack Obama decided to implement “Plan B” in order to pass his radical agenda. While claiming that there was “more than one way to skin a cat” Barack Obama looked to the EPA to implement his cap and trade proposal through fiat while at the same time circumventing the Congress because he could not get this issue passed using the one and only constitutionally provided means for passing legislation.

But now the Congress is fighting back against this affront to their constitutional authority as 11 Republicans are getting ready to introduce a bill which will require the EPA to get Congressional approval before moving forward with new cap and trade rules.

My bill will shrink Washington’s job-crushing agenda and grow America’s economy,” said Senator John Barrasso, a Republican from Wyoming and skeptic of climate change who is leading the effort.”I will do whatever it takes to ensure that Washington doesn’t impose cap-and-trade policies in any form

Cap and trade should have died when the Democrat controlled House and Senate could not come to agreement on this issue, but Barack Obama and the rest of the global warming alarmists did not let the bill die its proper constitutional death and they looked to implement this legislation through extra-constitutional means.

Barack Obama is attempting to consolidate power in a centralized federal government–and he is doing so at an alarming rate–and when it comes to issues which he is not able to pass through proper constitutional procedure he is looking to dictate to the American people through government agencies while ignoring the proper Congressional procedure and this is a dangerous prospect to say the least.

Why even have a Congress if Barack Obama is going to do whatever the hell he wants to using government agencies to enforce an agenda while at the same time circumventing the Congress? The bill being introduced by John Barrasso will deny the EPA any powers for which they have not been approved–and regulating greenhouse gasses is something that the Congress has not approved the EPA to do. The Obama regime and the EPA are both looking to expand the power of the EPA because, once again, the Obama regime feels as if the end justifies the means and if Barack Obama feels as if he is right, he feels justified in ignoring the constitution.

Even if this bill does make it through the Congress it will be vetoed by the president and a battle will ensue because both the president and the Congress will be unwilling to relinquish some of their power. In this case, the Obama regime will be unwilling to relinquish power that it has usurped from the Congress, while the Congress looks to take back power that rightfully belongs to them in the first place.

We are at a crossroads in this country as we have a president who is looking to consolidate power at a frightening rate and he must be stopped now before it is too late. What can we do at this point to stop him? I don’t know if we can stop hem, but we must delay his actions until 2012, because then we will have one last chance to bring this man down before he brings down our very form of government once and for all.

I was listening to Levin today and he was talking about how his administration has completely ignored the ruling of two federal judges. If he can ignore their rulings on Obamacare, and the drilling moratorium then why can’t Arizona simply ignore the federal judge who ruled against their immigration law. I mean we’re talking about a law that enforces a federal law and yet a judge ruled it was illegal. The Republicans had better pull it together quick and start reining in this out of control administration before it is too late. We are a nation that follows the rule of law and if our own President refuse to comply with a federal ruling then what are we to become? Great post Steve.

That is a good question John, I would love to see Arizona turn around and declare they were following the president’s example and would start ignoring the court ruling. As for the Republicans; there silence is deafening on this issue, I am afraid they are going to sit back and do nothing to stop Obama.

Why have a Congress? You must be kidding.. why have a judicial branch of government either, when you have a dictator in chief.

Yep, it seems as if the president feels he can act alone to implement his agenda and this is a frightening thought.

This needs to be stopped for the sheer destructiveness it will cause. I paid $3.35 for 87 octane yesterday. California already has their own cap and trade plan set to go into effect soon. There’s a measure on the upcoming ballot to impose a “oil production tax” on refineries in the state. Having the EPA piling on is going to make the state unlivable. Classic Cloward/Piven.

Don’t these people realize that these taxes will just be passed on to the consumer?

this administration makes a mockery of the rule of law… on top of cap and tax shenanigans look at the the drilling moratorium, two Judges have ruled to lift it and the MMS has yet to issue a single permit in the Gulf ,this administrations blatant disregard for law is borderline criminal and their job killing agenda knows no boundries, and Issa better push to expose them all

So true Paul, and now it has been learned that the Obama regime is being held in contempt of court for ignoring the court ruling on the drilling moratorium. It is time for Barack Obama to be held accountable for the fact that he is implementing by dictate agenda items which the court has already ruled he is not authorized to do.
