Obamacare: The state of Maine has been granted a healthcare waiver
The state of Maine petitioned the Health and Human Services Department for a waiver from Obamacare, siting the worry that the implementation of the healthcare reform law would lead to a destabilization of the healthcare market in the state and would force one of Maine’s healthcare provides to leave the state. And today the state of Maine was granted this waiver.
Maine was the first state to be granted this waiver, but may not be the last as Kentucky, Nevada and New Hampshire have also applied for waivers. What does this tell us about Obamacare when over 1,000 organizations have been granted waivers and now states are also being granted waivers?
I think that this tells us this was a poorly crafted bill which wasn’t properly studied and was voted on before anyone in the Congress had the chance to read what they were voting for. Nancy Pelosi told us that the Congress had to pass the bill in order to find out what was in it and those words certainly seem prophetic now.

This law is going down Steve. It is already failing before it even gets started. How much more proof do we need. I still think it is going to be struck down by the SCOTUS but we need to stop the damage now.

I agree, this law is falling apart even before it is fully implemented and I feel it will be ruled unconstitutional. It is time to stop the bleeding now.

I agree. In fact, I’ve been wondering if all these waivers being granted aren’t a violation of the equal protection clause in and of themselves.

It seems like a violation of the equal protection clause to me. Multi-million dollar companies and unions are being excepted from this law while ordinary American are going to have to comply with it–it doesn’t seem to be too equal to me!

Great news for Maine. I don’t suppose California could get one of those-that might be asking too much.

I wouldn’t count on it. Wouldn’t you love to see all of the states apply for a waiver?

I know that there are some, including Limbaugh, that think that Obama and crew want this to fail. I can’t really see the logic to that, but it is failing…and failing fast.

I don’t believe they want it to fail either, I can’t see any logic in that idea. I do think that he wants to delay the court hearings as long as possible because it gives him more time to implement more portions of this bill. The more that is enacted the toughr it will be to repeal.
