Obamacare: Sen. Inhofe claims nearly half of Oklahoma residents will lose their Medicare benefits

March 26, 2011

According to Senator Inhofe nearly one half of the residents of Oklahoma who receive Medicare benefits will lose their Medicare benefits, while those that do retain their benefits will see a reduction of over $3,ooo in services.

Since President Obama signed the so-called health-care reform bill into law, it has miserably failed American families and businesses,” Inhofe said. “Even though a handful of the law’s provisions have been implemented, it has already resulted in higher costs and loss of current coverage

Oklahoma is a low-supply state for primary-care physicians, with fewer than 11.5 primary care physicians for every 10,000 people,” he noted. “As a result of Obamacare, the percentage increase in Medicaid enrollment will be almost four times greater than the percent increase in primary-care physicians.”Obamacare will also have a negative impact on small businesses, due to a lack of business tax-credits in the Obamacare law, Inhofe added. Only 26.2 percent of small businesses are eligible for small business tax credits under Obamacare, he said

As much as I disagree with Mitt Romney for implementing the healthcare system in Massachusetts which became the model for the national healthcare reform law, he does have a point. The issue of healthcare reform should be left up to the states. As governor of Massachusetts he was acting on behalf of his state when he implemented the healthcare mandates in Massachusetts and while we can debate the results and wisdom of his actions and of the Massachusetts law, what we cannot debate is Mitt Romney’s authority to do so. However, as healthcare is not one of the specific enumerated powers in Article 1 Section 8 of the constitution we can see that the federal government has no authority to create laws which require all Americans to buy healthcare coverage, or to issue any laws on healthcare coverage at all.

There is no one size fits all national healthcare law which can take into account the needs of the individual states and the situation in Oklahoma seems to provide proof that this is the truth. The needs of the individual states vary from state to state and one cannot expect there to be a singular national law that will be sympathetic to the needs of the individual states, but that is what Obamacare tries to accomplish.

During the healthcare reform debate Nancy Pelosi made the claim that the Congress needed to pass the bill in order to see what was in the bill (apparently reading the bill before voting on it was out of the question) and now that the bill is passed and we are able to see what is actually in it, the more we realize how disastrous this bill really is.

Unintended conscuences or part of a plan to collapse the insurrance industry so that governent will be the only possible option. I think the latter.

I agree with Jim on this one. You couldn’t accidentally make a program that was deleterious to our current health care program, coupled with how bad it is for our economy – I can only connect the dots, and the picture is truly horrific.

I agree with both of you and we have actually heard some Democrats admit that this system will lead to a single payer system. It is working exactly as planned.

As someone who lives in Oklahamo this really gets under my skin. I think you hit it on the head, Steve, when you said one size shoe doesn’t fit everybody.

But then again, I think the powers that be in Washington don’t give a damn about what is good for each state. This is about ‘changing’ Americ which we were fore-warned would come if we elected President Obmama.

I so hope we can end this madness come 2012. (head shake)

You are right; Obama doesn’t care about what is best for the individual states because the goal of this legislation is single payer. Obama believe in a government run system, not in a free market system.

Single payer was the plan. No question about it. They figure by 2012 it will be impossible to unwind. Insurance companies will no longer offer coverage.

It is hard to believe that we have come to a point in America where our elected officials believe in the power of the government over the power of the people.

Frightening & sad. There will always be those that feel they have your best interest at heart, and maybe they do, but there are far too many as well that simply lust for power.

Ezekiel Emanuel thinks the plan is fine. People are going to have a tough time gaining access to a physician-assuming they can afford to do so. People will die. And wasn’t that his plan?

George Soros is coming out your way for his “new” Bretton Woods Conference. I heard from a Tea Partier that they were thinking about having a “meet and greet” event. Now that would be swell!!

Somehow you commented on the wrong post. 🙂 It will be interesting to see if anyone is there to “greet” Soros.

Great post Steve. I am a little outraged that half of all those medicare recipients will lose their medicare in Oklahoma. But then again we knew that Obamacare would target seniors didn’t we. I too agree with Mitt Romney’s stance that when it comes to as complex an issue as health care, the states know what is best for them. What works in Massachussetts won’t work anywhere else. The federal government is not allowing for the states to be labratories, experimenting with different ideas. I guess that is why Louisiana became the ninth state to file for an Obamacare waiver.

Thanks! Yes, this is an issue that should be left up to the states and while I disagree with Romney for implementing this policy it was in his power to do so. Whereas the president simply does not have the authority to mandate people to buy healthcare. This is all designed to lead to single payer and it must be stopped.

A lot of misinformation here. Compare what we have now to obama care…so all the ups and downs; or at least a few. Talk about how the insurance industry now is raping everyone or how we have to pay for people that do not have insurance now…

    Yep…u take over from here
