NATO airstrikes accidentally kill 18 rebels because NATO didn’t know they had tanks?

April 9, 2011

It would seem to me that when a nation goes to war (for when a country is engaged in a civil war and you take sides and inject yourself in that war by providing air cover for one side of the conflict, you are at war regardless of what you want to call it) there are a few things that must be known beforehand.

One thing that you might want to know beforehand is; who are the people that you are actually supporting?  With his United Nations urged rush toward war with Libya, Barack Obama failed to do the proper homework on this issue as we are now seeing reports that al Qaeda and Hezbollah are at least a portion of those whom we are supporting in the Libyan war.

As bad as this news is, it isn’t the only blunder Barack Obama made on his way to involving America in her third war. Another thing that you might want to know before you rush to war would be this; what does the enemy look like and what does your ally look like? What does your enemy have in regards to weapons and artillery and what does your ally have as well? This is basic but critical none the less because you need to be able to identify friend or foe in the heat of battle.

With this news that for the second time NATO forces have accidentally fired upon and killed rebel forces we are beginning to see that Barack Obama and the United Nations clearly did not do the proper reconnoissance before engaging Libya in this conflict.

“I’m not apologizing,” Harding told reporters in Naples, Italy. “The situation on the ground was extremely fluid and remains extremely fluid

Nor should he. Once war is started one has to expect collateral damage; the accidental shooting of friendlies, the loss of innocent civilian lives, and even the bombing of cities has always been an unfortune but acceptable aspect to war. This is what happened in this case and I do not fault the NATO forces for this mistake, but there is another part of this story which I find totally unacceptable:

And up until yesterday we had no information that the TNC or the opposition forces were using tanks
NATO saw tanks on the ground and assumed that they must be enemy tanks and they did so because they had no idea that the rebels were using tanks. This was not a simple mistake made in the heat of battle, this was a grave intelligence error and it happened because the United Nations did not do its homework before engaging Libya in this conflict. This is a stunning admission of ineptitude.

The stories are conflicting with the rebels claiming they provided NATO with the information while NATO says it never got that information, but the fact is the United Nations did not have the proper intelligence before intervening in a sovereign country’s civil war.

But don’t worry, this isn’t going to happen again because the rebels have come up with a solution–they are painting their tanks pink to avoid confusion. You can’t make this stuff up, it would be laughable if it weren’t so serious. But this is who Barack Obama is–he is a globalist who feels that the United States is not superior to any other country and he believes that America should not hold a special place on the world stage (remember America is a superpower, whether we like it or not) and as such he is too willing to turn over sovereignty to the will of the United Nations. Barack Obama did not have the courage to stand up to the United Nations and because of this the United Nations now has us in a war with a group of people who actually think painting their tanks pink is a good idea.

The United Nations said jump and Obama asked how high? It is just to bad he didn’t ask any other questions before he was blindly led into this war by the United Nations.

Ever since the Korean War Congress has not declared war. Yet we find ourselves in two currently. And possibly another one now. Correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t this unconstitutional?

I believe it is unconstitutional and it is about time that the American people start holding these politicians’ feet to the fire when they usurp powers that are not in the constitution.
