Gas prices soar: Barack Obama sleeps and the media ignores it

April 23, 2011

When George Bush was president and the American people fell victim to soaring gas prices the Democrats and the media had a field day with gas prices. We saw daily reports on the price of gas and we learned every day how much the price of a barrel of oil had risen. The Democrats and their propaganda arm in the media couldn’t help but remind the American people that never in the history of the United States had we had two oilmen in high office. We were told that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan–as well as President Bush’s “axis of evil” rhetoric were driving up the cost of oil. Democrats thrived on telling the American people that these wars were not about protecting the American people but rather about purposely driving up the price of oil.

What was President Bush’s advice to the American people when gas prices became exorbitant? He told the American people not to buy gas when they didn’t need it. Needless to say, the media had a field day with this impotent advice–and rightfully so as this did nothing to endear him to my heart.

When Barack Obama was elected in November of 2008 gas prices in my area were under $2 a gallon and the public was much relieved, but since his election gas prices have more than doubled and are on the verge of hitting $5 a gallon and some are predicting $6 a gallon this summer. Yet we hear no daily media reports on the price of oil and we do not hear the leftists who blamed President Bush blaming Barack Obama for the increase in the price of gas.

If President Bush is to blame for the spike in gas prices during his presidency than it seems to me that Barack Obama should be held equally responsible for this spike under his watch. If the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were partially to blame for the gas prices under President Bush then it is obvious that Barack Obama’s actions in the Middle East must also be contributing to the recent spike in oil prices.

Barack Obama has continued the war in Iraq even though according to his campaign promises all of our troops should be home by now, and he actually escalated the war in Afghanistan while engaging America in a war in Libya in which there is no American interests at stake. If this contributed to the spike in oil prices under President Bush, surely they must be contributing to the price of oil under the war mongering Barack Obama.

But that isn’t even the end all be all when it comes to Barack Obama and the price of oil for he has issued a drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico even though a court has ruled that he must lift the ban. And then there is the EPA which is moving forward on carbon emission regulations at the behest of Barack Obama; all of this has contributed to the rising cost of gas and yet the media is unwilling to attack Barack Obama for his role in this problem when they showed a certain joy in attacking President Bush’s policies for gas prices. There can be no doubt that Barack Obama’s policies are at least party to blame for the rising costs of oil.

What was Barack Obama’s answer for the rising price of gas? He told the American people that they should buy new cars that get better gas mileage. As asinine as President Bush’s “don’t buy gas if you don’t need it” answer was, this answer is even more outrageous. People are having trouble filling their tanks; many Americans are unemployed and the economy sucks and Barack Obama’s answer to them is to take out a loan for $40,000 and buy a fuel efficient car when they are struggling to put food on the table? And still the media gives him a pass on this.

And while if we are willing to accept the conspiratorial notion that President Bush truly went to war in the Middle East to drive up gas prices and not to protect the American people than there is no reason not to believe that Barack Obama isn’t doing the same. After all, when gas prices rose under President Bush, Barack Obama said that he wasn’t opposed to the rise in gas prices and said that in fact he supported higher gas prices but only wished they had risen more slowly so that the American people had more of a chance to get used to them.

And that isn’t all as Barack Obama’s Energy Secretary– Steven Chu–has actually stated that America must find a way to increase the price of gas to the levels in Europe. So while Barack Obama is asleep at the wheel and while the media ignores this problem the gas prices continue to rise and judging by the words of both Barack Obama and Steven Chu we have to come to the conclusion that this is exactly what the Obama regime wants. After all Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood did say he wanted to “coerce people out of their cars.”

This can only lead us to believe that this is Barack Obama’s “mission accomplished” moment.

Hmp. Media. I’m honestly starting to question EVERYTHING I hear from them these days.

Of course, they would NEVER ever suggest that Obama can end it all by issuing an executive order with two words… “Resume drilling.”

But then, on the other hand, running up the price of fossil fuels is exactly what Obama wants. He has said so numerous times, as well as his Administration flunkies.

Sorry, I’m in a really foul mood today.

I hope everyone here has a blessed Easter.

Obama and members of his regime have stated that they want the price of oil to increase so it is not surprising that it is. I just wish the media held the Obama regime to the same standards they held the Bush administration to.
I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

If the facts don’t fit your predetermined conclusions, then ignore them. That is the way of the liberals and the so-called MSM. I say so-called because they are no longer the main stream; we in the blogosphere are the new main stream.

I think you are right; I still call them the mainstream media but the truth is that they are quickly becoming irrelevant, they no longer hold the monopoly they once did.

This single issue (as if there were not others) may be his downfall. We would watch futures markets drop immediately if he announced we were going to drill in the Gulf and ANWAR. The only way that will happen is if his re-lection campaign is failing. At that point, he will flip faster than an Olympic gymnast.

He may flip but I think we all know that he will never follow through on this even if he does. We have seen to many campaign promises fall by the wayside to believe anything he says anymore.

Free flow of oil at market prices is the spark that fires the engine of capitalism. Obama will never ignite the spark by releasing the drilling rigs. He is not a capitalist and the media will cover his moves at every turn. They are vested in his intended outcomes.

They sure are! The media is nothing more than the propaganda arm of the Obama regime and they will carry his water no matter what.

The MSM is absolutely useless. I wouldn’t trust them to report the weather without some bias being injected. As for Obama, they can try to hide and ignore this all they want, it will not work. When people see with their own eyes the high prices in gas they are driving the conversation and sooner or later it will consume the presidency.

And the MSM wonders why their rating continue to drop; the people no longer believe anything they have to say. I think you are right; if gases prices continue to rise sooner or later this will become the issue that trumps all others.

As long as the dollar continues to tank, gas prices will rise. No one wants our dollars. That is what Obama and his minions cannot/will not control.

He is using his alinskyite class war tacticts blaming big oil and speculators, when neither compares with the destruction of the dollar. Of which is a direct resuly of Obamas dismal economic policies and suffacating regulation. And I think it playing out as planned.

Back during the last oil crunch– was it after Katrina when several refineries were destroyed?– there was a Senate hearing in which Chevron representatives, I think, produced a chart showing just how little effect US oil companies have on the production and/or price of oil and gas.

The last time the price of gas went up, I used that chart to show those who were complaining about “Big Oil” just who “Big Oil” actually is… the largest US company on the chart was Exxon/Mobil, and they were Number 14, and miniscule next to Number 13.

The chart proved that “Big Oil” is actually OPEC, not Exxon/Chevron/BP, et al.

I’ve been hearing those complaints about gas prices again, but THIS time, every single one of the people I showed that chart are specifying “OPEC”, not “Big Oil”.

I’d bet any odds that if we were able to audit their finances, it would be discovered that a huge majority of today’s environmental groups are getting massive amounts of money from OPEC to suppress US drilling and refining.

Oh… missed my main point. I was wondering if anyone here knows where I can find this chart. I’ve been slogging through a zillion Bing hits hunting for it. Anyone got a URL for it?

      Never mind… I found it!

And I was in error. Number 13 isn’t bigger than Number 14, Exxon/Mobil. Number 13, Petronas is about the same size, with more gas, less oil than Exxon/Mobil. Petronas is owned by Malaysia.

Interesting, you may be onto something, OPEC wants to keep the production down so that prices will stay up and maybe they are paying people to keep the production down.

Bush had two wars, plus Katrina cleanup to deal with. All presidents have problems.

A lot of the problems Obama has now are BECAUSE of the energy crisis that HE created by enforcing a drilling moratorium at a time when we are economically unstable.

The price of fuel leeches into the price of EVERYTHING. Every slice of bread in a grocery and every bolt in a hardware store must be MOVED. Moving takes energy. Right now, it takes about $1000 to fill up one of those big trucks.

Before an item is even moved, it has to be produced, and THAT takes energy.

The entire notion of “green” energy is bogus. If it was a viable concept, venture capitalists would have been all over it decades ago, struggling to be the first with the best deal. Such technology would be extremely valuable, and venture capitalists can smell money miles away. You can’t keep them away from it. So the mere fact that “green” energy requires government subsidies to get off the ground presents a huge rat that smells to high heaven.

I could go on and on, but the people here already know what’s what in this debate. No point going over old ground.

Is is laughable that xkenchy could possibly be serious about Bush only having one problem to deal with. And he told us to “make a better argument.”

Hey well at least Obama remembers the pain of what it feels like to fill up at the pump, he is just an ordinary guy. And we can rest assured that he has set the Department of Justice to investigate the high gas prices. I’m guessing that their findings will be something along the lines of “you must make sure that your tires are properly inflated.”

Right you are! LOL! I can remember all the tips we were given in the ’70s oil crunch, and STILL use them. I saved some money, so never stopped doing what I was doing. Given that I’m STILL using all of the ’79s tips, how am I supposed to cut back?

The liberal media is made up of white journalist who made they’re living by labeling everybody but themselves a racist, now that we have our first black president they have no choice but to shut their mouths or risk being labeled a racist if they dare to criticize this administration.
