Gas prices soar: Barack Obama sleeps and the media ignores it

  When George Bush was president and the American people fell victim to soaring gas prices the Democrats and the media had a field day with gas prices. We saw daily reports on the price of gas and we learned every day how much the price of a barrel of oil had risen. The Democrats and their propaganda arm in the media couldn’t help but remind the American people that never in the history of the United States had we had two oilmen in high office. We were told that the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan–as well as President Bush’s “axis of evil” rhetoric were driving up the cost of oil. Democrats thrived on telling the American people that these wars were not about protecting the American people but rather about purposely driving up the price of oil.

  What was President Bush’s advice to the American people when gas prices became exorbitant? He told the American people not to buy gas when they didn’t need it. Needless to say, the media had a field day with this impotent advice–and rightfully so as this did nothing to endear him to my heart.

  When Barack Obama was elected in November of 2008 gas prices in my area were under $2 a gallon and the public was much relieved, but since his election gas prices have more than doubled and are on the verge of hitting $5 a gallon and some are predicting $6 a gallon this summer. Yet we hear no daily media reports on the price of oil and we do not hear the leftists who blamed President Bush blaming Barack Obama for the increase in the price of gas.

  If President Bush is to blame for the spike in gas prices during his presidency than it seems to me that Barack Obama should be held equally responsible for this spike under his watch. If the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were partially to blame for the gas prices under President Bush then it is obvious that Barack Obama’s actions in the Middle East must also be contributing to the recent spike in oil prices.

  Barack Obama has continued the war in Iraq even though according to his campaign promises all of our troops should be home by now, and he actually escalated the war in Afghanistan while engaging America in a war in Libya in which there is no American interests at stake. If this contributed to the spike in oil prices under President Bush, surely they must be contributing to the price of oil under the war mongering Barack Obama.

  But that isn’t even the end all be all when it comes to Barack Obama and the price of oil for he has issued a drilling moratorium in the Gulf of Mexico even though a court has ruled that he must lift the ban. And then there is the EPA which is moving forward on carbon emission regulations at the behest of Barack Obama; all of this has contributed to the rising cost of gas and yet the media is unwilling to attack Barack Obama for his role in this problem when they showed a certain joy in attacking President Bush’s policies for gas prices. There can be no doubt that Barack Obama’s policies are at least party to blame for the rising costs of oil.

    What was Barack Obama’s answer for the rising price of gas? He told the American people that they should buy new cars that get better gas mileage. As asinine as President Bush’s “don’t buy gas if you don’t need it” answer was, this answer is even more outrageous. People are having trouble filling their tanks; many Americans are unemployed and the economy sucks and Barack Obama’s answer to them is to take out a loan for $40,000 and buy a fuel efficient car when they are struggling to put food on the table? And still the media gives him a pass on this.

  And while if we are willing to accept the conspiratorial notion that President Bush truly went to war in the Middle East to drive up gas prices and not to protect the American people than there is no reason not to believe that Barack Obama isn’t doing the same. After all, when gas prices rose under President Bush, Barack Obama said that he wasn’t opposed to the rise in gas prices and said that in fact he supported higher gas prices but only wished they had risen more slowly so that the American people had more of a chance to get used to them.

  And that isn’t all as Barack Obama’s Energy Secretary– Steven Chu–has actually stated that America must find a way to increase the price of gas to the levels in Europe. So while Barack Obama is asleep at the wheel and while the media ignores this problem the gas prices continue to rise and judging by the words of both Barack Obama and Steven Chu we have to come to the conclusion that this is exactly what the Obama regime wants. After all Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood did say he wanted to “coerce people out of their cars.”

  This can only lead us to believe that this is Barack Obama’s “mission accomplished” moment.
