Barack Obama finally releases his birth certificate

April 27, 2011

I had no intention of writing about this topic but seeing as this seems to be the “big” issue of the day I feel obligated to write about it. Let me say up front that by no means am I a “birther,” as a matter of fact with the exception of writing about states which may pass legislation which would require candidates to prove their credentials to be president I have written exactly one post on the birth certificate issue, and that post was written in June of 2008 when this was a fairly new issue.

My position on this issue has been as follows: I believe there are two possible reasons for why Barack Obama has failed to release his birth certificate until now, the first being the fact that he may have something to hide. But even if this is the case I did not feel as if this were an issue that should consume the American public because the man is already the president and as such there is virtually no chance that he would be removed from office because of anything that might appear on his birth certificate. I would much rather focus on the issues and convince as many people as possible that another person would be better suited to lead the American people based on the issues at hand.

I have always been of the opinion that the true reason that Barack Obama refused to release his birth certificate was the second reason which I will state here: He has nothing to hide but felt as if by not releasing the birth certificate it could provide a distraction and take the focus off the issues at hand.

What exactly do I mean by this? Barack Obama felt that the “birther” issue was always a way to delegitimize a certain portion of the population who opposed him. As the issue grew within a fringe section of the American people Barack Obama was willing to let the issue fester in order to claim a certain segment of the population was opposed to Barack Obama the man because of his color, and not Barack Obama the president because of his policies. As the days wore on and the Tea Party gained prominence as a legitimate political force, Barack Obama saw no need to let this issue go away by simply releasing his birth certificate–he felt as though this issue could be a political positive which could help to circle the wagons around him in 2012.

If you were to poll the average American and ask them which political movement was probably most closely aligned with the “birther” movement I would be willing to bet that most people–with the media toeing the line–would state that the Tea Party was most closely affiliated with the “birther” movement. And because people are questioning Barack Obama’s citizenship the media is easily able to equate the “birthers” with racism–and by extension, the Tea Party with racism. After all, Barack Obama is the first black president and those that would question his legitimacy must be racists. Therefor if the “birther” movement was nothing but an offshoot of the Tea Party movement, the Tea Party people could be delegitimized as nothing but a bunch of racists who did not oppose the president for any other reason other than his color.

The short version of what I just wrote is; Barack Obama found it politically advantageous to keep the “birthers” guessing on his eligibility and that is exactly what he did.

Then along came Donald Trump and he brought the “birther” issue to mainstream America as well as the mainstream media. Suddenly we had a high profile personality who is not affiliated with the Tea Party in any way shape or form questioning the president’s eligibility and this brought a certain amount of attention–and dare I say “credibility”–to a question that had been previously relegated  to the blogosphere. While Barack Obama–in my opinion–wanted this issue to remain alive in order to both form a distraction in a certain faction of America as well as marginalize the Tea Party movement, it suddenly became a distraction to the president and his agenda and he could no longer afford to continue the ruse.

With the report that a recent poll showed that only 38% of Americans were certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that Barack Obama was born in the United States, this issue went from being what Barack Obama considered politically expedient to being a political liability and he finally had to come forward with his birth certificate because he saw the potential of this issue turning against him and hurting him in 2012.

Keeping the “birthers” guessing was a carefully calculated political move since the “birther” issue first materialized and now that  Barack Obama was finally forced to give up and show proof that he was born in America it is time for the people who oppose Barack Obama to stop playing into his hand and start focusing on the issues. There are plenty of reasons why Barack Obama should not be re-elected, and the question of his citizenship is not one of them.

A very interesting observation that I must admit did not occur to me. Plausible. Very plausible.

Now, can we please vote this Marxist out of office?

I certainly hope we can, it is time to focus on his policies because he now has enough of a record to prove to the American people that he must go.

Thank you! I think Trump will wear out his welcome pretty quickly, a star that burns brightly fades away quickly.

I think it show’s BO’s weakness and will take the air out of Trump, helping the GOP. Obama did Republicans a huge favor today!

Yes – Mr. Trump hopped on a faltering bandwagon and was able to revive the birther movement because he has some public credibility, albeit with a minority of the public. Now even they will realize that he has nothing further to offer, and the GOP can go back to looking for a credible, legitimate candidate.

Take good care, and may God bless us all!

Well, I could have photoshopped that document. That’s not the point here. Donald Trump is saying everything he thinks those that oppose Obama wants to here. At the same time this guy contributed thousands to the mayoral campaign of Rahm Emanuel, Ed Rendell, and…Harry Reid. You saw that right. This guy may be a plant that will try and split the Republican vote in 2012. I don’t trust him.

I have heard this theory from a few people and I hope that you are wrong. But if he does run as an independent he will split the vote and send Obama back to the White House. If he does run third party than he has to know what the end result will be, and if he does then we know he wants Obama re-elected.

I don’t think the fact that he contributed to Democratic campaigns makes him an agent provocateur, I think it demonstrates that he’s a pragmatic businessman. Lots of the wealthy contribute to both sides, as do many corporations.

We may agree that the power of money in the political process is wrong, but someone in Trump’s position has a choice – he can bitch and moan about it and not make any contributions except to GOPers, and then give up any chance of access to the Majority Leader, etc . . . or he can make the contributions and have the conversations when he needs to (and by Trump, I mean anyone in his oprganization). People in the business world need to be able to talk with poilicymakers from time to time, it’s just that simple.

Take good care and may God bless us all!

I am sure that you are right; Trump simply donated to the politicians who he thought could help him at that particular time and while this may be the mark of a smart businessman it shows us that he probably does not out any political beliefs above his own personal gain. And that should make everyone who is thinking about voting for him more than a little leery. Nobody knows what his true political beliefs are.

That certificate of live birth is a fake. The name of the hospital used on it was different when he was born and there’s a you tube video clip showing how the document was forged.

Unsupported allegations, Barbara. I guess we’re going to see lots of this over the next little while – in fact, I heard yesterday that that Orly Taitz woman was screeching about the father’s race – apparently, she decided the hospital staff should have recorded it as “negro” instead of “African.”

According to a quick look at Wikipedia, by the way, the hospital acquired its name (Kapiolani Maternity and Gynecological Hospital) some time before 1940, and a couple of scientific research papers dated 1940 and 1943 are presented as evidence – they name the facility where their work was conducted.

Sideshows and carnival barkers, to be sure . . . and no amount of truth will make them all go away. Why, even Mr. Hannity has insisted that for him the case is completely closed now, and the responsible leadership of the GOP – and even some of its more irresponsible members — have been asserting for some time now that there’s no doubt about Mr. Obama’s bona fides, and continuing the circus simply distracts from the real, serious issues at hand.

Take good care, and may God bless us all!

It is time to let this issue go, in fact I never supported this angle because I feel that there are plenty of reasons to get this guy out of office and they are all based on his policies.

The nail has been hit upon its head by Stevie D. The Pres milked this issue b/c it was politically advantageous. You’ve said with this post exactly what I’ve said by refusing to post.

Folks, when even Glenn Beck ain’t on board with your theory, guess what? It ain’t a viable theory, and you need to drop it.

The fact that some people are all like, but this long form is dodgy! is exactly what the Pres is hoping for. The more you focus on this sideshow issue, the better he looks.

Please, by all means make sure that this is never an issue again. But as far as our current President is concerned—-drop it people. Like a dead rat.

    cheers!

He welcomed this distraction for as long as it helped him and now that he has released the BC it is time to focus on the issues. He needs to go and we need to stay focused on the issues now.

Trump just wants to make sure we all watch his new show on the golf channel, as soon as the other one is over. The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge took his fire.

I agree, I think that Trump is only in this in order to gain publicity for his TV shows, when they are over so is he.
