Barack Obama turns his back on 9/11 family member at today’s Ground Zero ceremony

May 5, 2011

Before I get into this post let me state that I believe that the basic account of the Navy SEAL operation which took out Osama bin Laden is true; I do not believe in the conspiracy theories which now abound. I believe that the Navy SEALS–under direct orders from Barack Obama–killed Osama bin Laden last Sunday.

Having said that: Only a man as arrogant as Barack Obama can take something as positive, uplifting, and uniting as killing the man most responsible for the terrorist attack on September 11th and turn it into a net negative as fast as Barack Obama has. While the Obama regime acted flawlessly leading up to the military strike which took out bin Laden it is in the aftermath of this attack where the Obama regime has seemed confused and inept.

It all started with the conflicting reports of the attack, this made the Obama regime seem disjointed and confused; unable to get the message they wanted to send to the American people straight. We learned that the Obama regime ordered a burial at sea following proper Muslim burial laws and ordered it to be video taped. This was the first sign that the Obama regime simply couldn’t let go of the politically correct mindset, he wanted to prove to the Muslims that we still treated the most notorious terrorist in the history of the world that we were better than those who look to do us harm.

At first I thought he wanted this event to be recorded so that he could show it to the world as proof that we treated Osama bin Laden’s body with respect even though we killed him, but now that he is refusing to release the video I am wondering if he simply didn’t trust our military to carry out his orders and ordered the taping in order to assure that his wishes were carried out. I am beginning to believe he recorded the burial in order to keep his eye on our military because he has a disdain for the military and does not trust them.

Then came the news that he would not release Osama bin Laden’s death photo because he felt that it would inflame Muslims across the globe. He needs to remember that he is our president, he is not the president of the world and his first priority is to the American people. We want these pictures released and he should take into account what Americans want and not be so concerned with appeasing our enemy.

All of this was bad enough, but not serious enough to turn the positive gained in the assassination into a negative with a majority on the people, but then today at the Ground Zero ceremony he committed a vile act of arrogance which I believe will ultimately prove to be the turning point; changing what should have been a public relations jackpot into a public relations nightmare when he turned his back and walked away from the sister of a pilot who was killed on September 11th because he did not like the question she dared to ask of him.

Debra Burlingame, the sister of Charles “Chic” Burlingame (pilot of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon) met with President Obama today, along with other families who were victims of 9/11. Burlingame said she confronted Obama about Attorney General Eric Holder prosecuting the men who interrogated KSM, which may have produced intelligence leading us to bin Laden.

Burlingame describes the encounter with Obama: “As a former attorney I know you can’t tell the Attorney General what to do, he said, ‘No, I can’t.’ But I said ‘we — that shouldn’t stop you from giving your opinion. We wouldn’t be here today if they hadn’t done their jobs. Can’t you at least give them your opinion.’ And he said ‘no I won’t,’ and he turned around and walked away.”

In light of the fact that the “harsh interrogation” policy at GITMO and at other “black sites” across Europe may have yielded the information which led to Osama bin Laden’s ultimate demise this seems like a perfectly reasonable question to me. First, I take issue with the statement that Barack Obama can not tell Eric Holder which cases to pursue and which ones to drop. Eric Holder serves at the pleasure of the president and if Barack Obama wanted him to drop the case against the Navy SEALs he would or Barack Obama would reserve the right to fire him and replace him. Yet Barack Obama still agrees with this assumption because the fact is that he wants the Navy SEALs to be prosecuted.

But for the sake of argument let us concede that point; When she asks the president to offer his opinion to Eric Holder he simply says that he will not, turns his back, and walks away from Debra Burlingame. If this account is true–and I believe that it is–is this the type of respect that a person who lost a family member on September 11th deserves?

Barack Obama is simply not used to being criticized or questioned and recently we have seen him become testy when the media pushes back against him. I do not blame him for being a little belligerent with the media considering the fac that they have never asked him tough questions, but to act this way to a citizen–and he should remember that he works for the citizens–shows up the utter contempt he holds for us plebeians.

He showed this woman no sympathy and in fact treated her–in my opinion–with utter disregard for her feelings, and the Democrats are supposed to be the caring ones.

I honestly believe that September 11th did not affect Barack Obama the same way that if affected most Americans and it is probably because he still feels as if America and her policies brought on the attacks. Remember his excuse for not wearing a flag lapel pin? He said he did not wear one because he didn’t want it to appear as if he was taking sides, does this sound like someone who believes that the terrorists are the only ones to blame for the September 11th attacks? It doesn’t to me.

If Debra Burlingame’s account of this meeting is true–and I honestly hope that it isn’t, but fear that it is–this shows an arrogance and condescension that is beyond belief, even for him. He owes Debra and all other September 11th family members an apology, but it seems as if he simply does not understand what is at stake here because he is more interested in appearing sympathetic to the enemy than he is to the victims of this attack.

Barack Obama’s actions leading up to the attack may be beyond reproach but his actions after the fact have been suspect to say the least.

Obama does have the habit of really only speaking about himself or making himself the central issue, even when it should be about others (such as this NYC 9-11 PR show).

Even if you disagree, it is, at the very least, polite to listen. That act showed a complete lack of class. He’s supposed to be the President of all of us, not just people that agree with him. Then again, should we be surprised?

Agreed, there was no need for the way he acted, it seems as if he was offeded that she dared to ask him a question. He is like a spoiled little child.

This President and for the most part most of the elected democrats have built a large base of voters on anit-war and anti military in general.

I remember this exchange during the 1st Clinton inauguration. Actor Ron Silver (July 2, 1946 – March 15, 2009) seeing a display of military fighters overhead, he complained to a Clinton aide who told him that “those are our jets now.” I must say tho that post 9-11 changed even Ron Silver’s thinking. He bacame a Bush supporter until his death in 2009.
This change of thinking was not espoused by most of Hollywood. In Silver’s blog on the Pajamas Media website, he also remarked that his colleagues on the set of The West Wing referred to him as “Ron, Ron, the Neo-Con.”

The dumbing down of america continues. After the death of Bin Laden a large percentage of Google searches by young people were “who is Bin Laden” or “why did we kill Bin Laden”. The Obama administration relies on this to enact his agenda. Knowing that a majority of Americans do not pay attention to world events.

The snub of Debra Burlingame will be ignored by most of the media who have too much invested in this man to betray him. But this goes to the root of his persona. He has total control over Eric Holder and everyone knows it.

He does not tolerate critics. Look at the health care debacle. The majority of Americans screaming no and he sits back tells The house and Congress to get it done knowing they would take the brunt of election payback. We see this time and time again in his governing style. Let others take the lead and then after they absorb the flak he steps in to try to act like the great moderator. If this Bin Laden killing goes bad he will throw everyone under the bus. I think your point on the video ordered of the burial at sea is spot on. He does not trust anyone especially our brave Military people.

Release all video and still photography (properly edited by the military for security). If you do not want to see it don’t see it. I do not think most of us care much what the part of Islam that already hates us thinks. They go off and kill people just for a cartoon they think offensive. They stone people to death. Talk about brutal. The cutting off of apendages and limbs for petty crime? And people want to use Shria law here?

This President is an apologist. An appeaser of our enemy’s and a danger to our libertys. We must not trade liberty for security. That will be the road to the end. This next election will either elect someone who is going to write into history a new beggining to or the end of all that we know.

If the release of the photos will, in any way, endanger our deployed Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, Airmen, or Coast Guardsmen, then they should not be released.

While I want to see the photos of bin Laden dead for my own selfish reasons I do understand that they may inflame our enemy and so I don’t have a real problem with them not being released. However, we are currently prosecuting Navy SEALS for slapping a terrorist and that is what this woman was questioning Obama about, and that is an issue where I do have a real problem.
