Republicans block radical Obama nominee to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals

May 19, 2011

Barack Obama–or probably more accurately, the whole Democrat party–is grooming Goodwin Liu for an eventual seat on the Supreme Court and he had hoped that his path to the Supreme Court would begin today with his approval to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, but John McCain promised to seek a filibuster and today the Republicans remained united and stopped Liu’s appointment to the court. It is not often that I agree with John McCain, but this is one of those times so kudos are in order for the “Maverick” and all the Republicans who met this challenge head on.

This is great news for the republic–and probably the best news we have had from the Republicans since they gained control in November–as Goodwin Liu is about as radical as they come and he needed to be stopped before he even made it onto the lower court. Goodwin Liu–much like Barack Obama–wants to fundamentally change America. Goodwin Liu is a statist who feels that people have the right to expect the government to take care of  and regulate every aspect of their lives.

Goodwin Liu, among other controversial positions, has written that the Constitution grants the right to government-funded health insurance, child care, public transportation and job training.

Here is some of his writing:

First, contrary to the conventional wisdom that ‘the Constitution is a charter of negative rather than positive liberties,’ the social citizenship tradition assigns equal constitutional status to negative rights against government oppression and positive rights to government assistance on the ground that both are essential to liberty.”

The article continues, “Beyond a minimal safety net, the legislative agenda of equal citizenship should extend to systems of support and opportunity that, like education, provide a foundation for political and economic autonomy and participation. The main pillars of the agenda would include basic employment supports, such as expanded health insurance, child care, transportation subsidies, job training, and a robust earned income tax credit.”

Goodwin Lui does not believe that the constitution is a limiting document which tells the government what they cannot do; he believes the constitution is an enabling document which permits the government certain rights, and he erroneously feels that  if a person is dependent on the government instead of being free from the government that this is liberty. This is exactly the opposite of what the constitution represents.

And here is what Goodwin Liu had to say about the America that Justice Alito hopes for:

Liu said in 2006 that Alito’s vision of America is one “where police may shoot and kill an unarmed boy, where federal agents may point guns at ordinary citizens during a raid, even after no sign of resistance, where the FBI may install a camera where you sleep, where a black man may be sentenced to death by an all-white jury for killing a white man absent analysis showing discrimination

A despicable attack that is very reminiscent of Ted Kennedy’s brutal libel of Robert Bork many years ago.

Today the Republicans did the right thing in stopping this man, but he has been chosen for an eventual Supreme Court appointment and this is Barack Obama’s second attempt at getting him on the bench so we should not be surprised if this is not the last we hear of Goodwin Lui. People like Barack Obama and Goodwin Liu have a radical vision for America and they will stop at nothing to accomplish their goals. While there are many reasons to defeat Barack Obama in 2012 the fact that he will most likely have at least one more Supreme Court appointee is probably the most important reason why he must be defeated.

If Barack Obama is able to nominate people like Goodwin Liu to the Supreme Court than the statists in this country will be able to have their radical, Marxist agenda imposed on the people through the courts legislating from the bench if they cannot get their agenda passed through the constitutional process, and if this happens we will lose the United States of America forever.

This is the best news I’ve heard today. I wish there was some way to change this appoinment for “life” concept. It is working against us.

This was great news indeed! There is a way to change the appointment for life but it would take a constitutional amendment so basically this is never going to happen.

This is a very good thing Steve. This guy is simply out there and has zero respect for our constitution.

YOu have that right! I have read even more quotes from Liu since I wrote this and all I can say is thank God that this man was stopped…..at least for now. It is scary to think that such an anti-America, marxist could have even gotten that close to the bench.
