Department of Justice caught in a racial quota scandal

  According to this article the Department of Justice has been caught trying to pressure the Dayton, Ohio police and firefighters to lower their testing standards because not enough minorities have been passing the written exam. The DOJ is claiming that it isn’t all that important for a police officer or for a firefighter to be able to read or write and is demanding that the departments lower their entry standards. When you are forced to lower your standards you really do not have standards, do you?

  This highlights not only a race identity based agenda on behalf of the Obama regime, but also a fundamental failing of the education system in America. Under this type of policy the education level of the applicant is unimportant, but what is important is the color of that applicant’s skin and until we stop putting people into groups–African-America, Mexican-American, Asian-American and so-forth–and start looking at everyone as Americans we will never fully solve the race issue in this country. This type of policy separates people into groups based on race and gender and looks to pander to those groups individually, instead of treating all people as if they were equals. This type of policy actually promotes race based identity politics and seeks to treat different groups differently–it does not bring the American people together, on the contrary, it pushes us apart.

  If a person is hired despite his or her illiteracy that person is not being helped–they are being hurt in the long run because the larger problem is not being solved, it is simply being hidden. The lack of an education is being condoned and accepted instead of promoting the individual to acquire a better education. The person may be gaining employment, but they are not truly being helped.

 The person and the nation would be better off of if everyone aspired to better themselves but when the government subsidizes mediocrity that is exactly what you get.

  And the Supreme Court has already ruled that hiring a person based on the color of their skin is unconstitutional–even when the goal of the hiring is social justice, hiring a person because he is a minority and not because he is qualified.

On June 29, 2009, the Supreme Court ruled that city officials in New Haven, Connecticut, violated the rights of white firefighters when they discarded the results of a promotions test because minority firefighters performed poorly on the test.  “The city rejected the test results solely because the higher scoring candidates were white,” Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote for the majority.  (Ricci et al. v. DeStefano et al. (No. 07–1428)).

     We have already seen the low regard in which the Obama regime holds court decisions, so it is no surprise that the Obama regime’s DOJ would ignore this Supreme Court ruling and would try to pressure the police and the firefighter departments into hiring people who may not be qualified for the job in the name of social justice.

  When it comes to a job such as being a firefighter or a police officer–a job in which the person puts his life on the line and could hold the lives of other people in his or her hands–the best person should be hired for the job regardless of race or color, but here we have the Obama regime’s DOJ trying to punish these departments for making sure they hire the most qualified person possible. 

  It is interesting to note which cases the DOJ decides to prosecute–such as this one–and which cases the department decides to ignore, such as the Black Panthers voter intimidation case. The DOJ and the Obama regime have a view of America in which America is a fundamentally flawed and unfair country and they are seeking social justice. So when the Black Panthers intimidate voters at the polls it is not prosecuted because this is an example of the righting of some perceived wrong, yet if a department does not hire enough minority employees–even if those prospective employees are not qualified for the job–the DOJ is willing to go after them with guns blazing. They are not seeking social equality with these types of policies, they are looking to give one group of people preferential treatment over another and this is in direct opposition to everything that America stands for.

  What we should be focused on here is the education system and the people who have been charged with educating our young people. Why is it that we have people who are graduating from high school without the ability to read or write? For this is where the problem lies–in our education system–we should be asking ourselves the question I have just asked and we should be looking to improving the education system in America. It is unacceptable that ONE person should graduate from high school without the basics of reading and writing and those teachers that have failed our youth should be held accountable.

  Giving a person who cannot read or write a job which that person isn’t qualified for may be a temporary solution to the problem, but in order to truly fix the problem we must fix the education system.

    Why don’t they just rate/grade medical school students based on ethnic background and have government decide who needs help based on skin color so twenty years from now the moron who botches my vital heart bypass surgery will at least be a trendy race/mutt or whatever- what a glorious future to look forward to in retirement

      Now that is a scary thought! There are some professions which simply require nothing but the best and the brightest and to see them watered down in the interest of political correctness is frightening indeed.

    Here’s the message this sends; the continued decline of our society is ok as long as everyone has an opportunity to share in that decline. We can’t have a society where success is based on the best performance of the individual. No this sends the message that we’re desire society where success is measured by the performance of the weakest individual. Talk about a backwards mindset. How can anyone defend this.

    I hate to be the one to break it ot you, but admittance to Medical School is very much based on quotas. Meanwhile the federal government gives hospitals finanical incentives to take on Foreign Medical students and giving them residencies. Most come from Africa and India. Lots of luck seniors in the future.

      This is troubling news to say the least. To think that we are putting our lives in the hands of people who are not qualified is frightening to say the least.

    The first step in reforming education is to eliminate collective bargaining and tenure…hire and fire based on results, promote based on merit.
    The teachers union is the primary reason our educational system is a joke, concerned more with indoctranation then education.. they are the radical left wing

    Promotions and firings based on the merit of the individual? What a radical idea! 🙂 You have hit on the crux of the problem and that is the fact that the individual is no longer accountable for his or herself anymore. Until we get America back to being a meritocracy we will continue to see the decline in the American people and it will be the downfall of this country.

    I heard about this. Right along the same lines as the DOJ going after a school district for not giving a Muslim time off to go to Mecca, or Obama choosing Sotomayor for the SCOTUS…by his own words, based on racial makeup. They have become what they claim to hate the most.

      They put people into groups under the guise of diversity but what they are doing is promoting identity politics. Their policies push us apart even as they claim to be bringing us together.

    Thank you for another great article. “Quotas” are alive and well here in Boston; a well honed tool of the liberal left. They’ve been challenged but they always return in some backdoor fashion. Both the Boston Fire Dept & Police Dept have unfair racial quotas. Supporters insist it does not result in under-qualified recruits but the proof is there that it does. Minority officers, politicians, etc complain minority firefighters and police officers are disciplined, suspended and fired at a much higher rate than their white counterparts.. Of course they are; many were unqualified for the job in the first place. They were hired because of the color of their skin, period. The City ignores criminal backgrounds, past drug histories and dismal test scores. Is it any surprise that these unqualified people wash out?? Political correctness infects everything it touches which includes the educational system. There are three exam schools in Boston that require students to pass an entrance exam. Libs tried their hardest to get the entrance exam thrown out or dumb it down; “Not enough minority kids get in,” they screeched. In their world it isn’t, “Let’s encourage minority students and parents to work harder,” it is; “Let’s lower the standards so more minorities can get in”
    Sorry, there is no way around it, the numbers speak for themselves. This is not racism, it’s reality and life in the black community will never improve until they stop blaming whitey and demand that their neighbors, children and themselves do better..

    I just heard a story told by Frantz Kebreau author of the book ‘Stolen History’. Naval Pilot of the Year, Seventh Fleet Golden Hook Recipient. In it he told of the Dept of the Navy lowering standards to allow Women to fly on Aircraft Carriers…result…1 Women Pilot died from not LANDING!
