Gunrunner: Darrell Issa insinuates that Kenneth Melson’s resignation is not enough
As I wrote about here yesterday, it is being reported that under intensifying pressure the acting head of the ATF, Kenneth Melso, will offer his resignation for his role in the growing Operation Gunrunner scandal. Melson is being offered up as the sacrificial lamb–the fall guy–bu either Barack Obama or Eric Holder, maybe both, in the hope that this will satiate the public and relieve the pressure Darrell Issa is applying to the Department of Justice.
It was my fear that this news would satisfy Darrell Issa and he would stop further inquiry into the Department of Justice, but Darrell Issa has already accused Eric Holder of a coverup in the Operation Gunrunner scandal and it now appears as if he is ready to continue his investigation into the Department of Justice and the Obama regime.
While claiming that Melson “should lose his job” he still maintains the prerogative that this order came from someone higher than he and he is determined to get to the bottom of the Gunrunner scandal. Darrell Issa admits that the plan probably originated in the ATF but that someone in the DOJ had to have approved it before the plan went into operation; he also stated that a federal judge must have also given permission for the wiretaps which were used during Operation Gunrunner.
Here is what Darrel Issa had to say about Eric Holder on television earlier today:
Attorney General Eric Holder “should have known – I believe it was his obligation to know” what was going on at ATF, Issa said. Holder wasn’t doing his job properly if he didn’t know
He is exactly right in this assertion for there are only three possible scenarios which I can come up with in regards to Eric Holder’s role in the scandal.
- Eric Holder knew about the program and lied when he was asked about it
- Eric Holder did not know about the program
- Eric Holder authorized the program
None of these scenarios shine a positive light on Eric Holder; if he knew about the program and he lied about it, he purposely was involved in a coverup and should resign for trying to hide the truth. If he did not know the truth then Darrell Issa is absolutely correct when he stated that Eric Holder wasn’t doing his job and should resign as a result. And if Eric Holder did in fact authorize Operation Gunrunner than he should be held at least partially responsible for the death of Brian Terry, as well as all of the other crimes committed with these weapons, as well as lying about his role in the scandal, and he should resign in this scenario as well.
In my opinion there is no way in hell that the acting head of the ATF made the decision on his own to go ahead with a program of this magnitude; this idea may have started within the ATF but it was put before Eric Holder before the go ahead was given, and it is utterly plausible and highly likely that Eric Holder briefed Barack Obama before this plan was put in motion.
With Darrell Issa’s statement on television earlier today I am glad to learn that my original fears seem to have been for nought and Darrell Issa isn’t satisfied with this one resignation. It appears as if the investigation will move forward, and it should.

Dead on, a project of this magnitude requires massive funding and logistics, from utilizing FBI and ATF recources to wiretapping and fcilitating the sales the was massive in scope. This goes way way up. As for the theory that is was implemeted for political and not strategic reasons it is the ONLY plausible explenation.
This has George SOREASS written all over it. It plays way tooonicely into the lefts gun control narrative.
What better way to strip the masses of ther right to self defense ? After all this administration has devoted more homeland security recources to the so called “gun clinging Christians” than radical muslim terrorists or or criminal illegal aliens flooding accross our borders.
This stinks and i only hope this brings this entire Anti American thug regime down.

There is no doubt that this came from the top, and I do remember the left claiming that we needed more control to secure the border. I do not doubt that this was part of that gun control effort, but it went horribly wrong and people at the very top need to pay for this. I am glad that Issa isn’t falling for this symbolic resignation.

It is time for Holder to fall on his sword to protect The One. If he doesn’t , The One will throw him under the bus to protect his own fanny.

Yes, he must not stop until he gets to the bottom of this and I don’t think he will. There is no way that the head of the ATF is responsible for this program and the words that Issa used before about Holder lead me to believe that he knows it as well.

Bill O’Really last night, stated emphatically, that there is NO CONSPIRACY behind this. This was just a “botched operation”. I no longer watch this guy because my hyper sensitivity to twisting of facts and globalist mentality picked up on his ideology long ago. From what I heard, he didn’t really offer a legitimate goal for Gunrunner. He emphasized it was NOT about infringing on the 2nd amendment.
Regarding heads rolling. Someone, probably more than one person, needs to go to prison. Not just resign. PRISON! Further more, I believe the guilty parties should be charged with treason as well as negligent homicide, conspiracy and whatever else applies. The UN should be indicted in the conspiracy charge. These people couldn’t be more “in your face” criminal if they came to your house personally, beat you down and robbed you at gunpoint. It’s time for the rule of law to apply to all citizens, not just the “unwashed masses”.

There is no doubt that the regime intended to use the violence at the border as an excuse for new gun control laws, and Hillary even alluded to it at one point before this story broke. I would not be at all surprised if this was an effort to sway people into supporting gun control laws.

I don’t think they even care about the support of the people anymore. They just spout off talking points for a particular “crisis” over and over (with the help of a lapdog media). Then they come up with a bill to fix said crisis. Then they pass it despite 60 or 70% of the citizens screaming that we don’t want this government intrusion. Seems to be the pattern as of late. They are quickly eliminating the options of “we the people” to stop this destruction of our society. Disarming us would be the laststep in sealing the deal, so to speak.

You are exactly right, this regime creates crisis and then attempts to “fix” these crisis regardless of what the American people want. Barack Obama is a dangerous man with no concept of the limits placed on him in the constitution and he must be stopped as soon as possible, if not sooner.

I see the New York Times is blaming Issa for not getting to the bottom of this investigation. They think it should be about gun laws. You can’t make this up. They’re letting Holder and Obama off the hook completely.

That’s not surprising, they forget that we gave these weapons to known violent criminals in the first place and they want to use the government’s actions as a reason to punish the law abiding citizens. You are right, you can’t make this stuff up.
