Barack Obama to La Raza: “doing things on my own is very tempting”
Earlier today Barack Obama spoke to La Raza–which literally translates to mean The Race–and used this venue to tout comprehensive immigration reform–which we all know literally translates to mean amnesty for illegal aliens. During this speech he claimed that America’s immigration system was broken and needed to be fixed, and I agree with him on this. But it isn’t the system itself which is broken, but rather the enforcement of the system which is broken.
We have plenty of immigration laws on the books right now (isn’t this the position the Obama regime had in regards to Arizona’s immigration law) we do not need more laws, and we certainly do not need to reward criminal aliens with amnesty: what we need to do is enforce the laws which are on the books. He promised once again to pass comprehensive immigration reform, but one has to wonder how much longer the illegal immigrants are going to believe him. He promised to make this legislation a top priority in his regime during the first year but he has failed to do so, and he is now blaming the Congress (and more specifically, the Republicans in the Congress) for yet another broken promise.
While blaming the Congress he made a statement which I found very interesting:
The idea of doing things on my own is very tempting, I promise you, not just on immigration reform. But that’s not how our system works. That’s not how our democracy functions
He finds the power vested in him to be very tempting, and if left on his own he would likely act on this temptation but our democracy (republic) does not function this way. So he says, but does he really mean it?
I believe that Barack Obama does find it very tempting to act on his own as a defacto dictator, but I am not so sure he feels restricted by the constitution or our democracy (republic) as he claims he does and I do believe he feels as if he can act alone. After all, Barack Obama has ignored a court ruling which demanded him to end the drilling moratorium in the gulf–he certainly didn’t feel bound by the courts to comply–and the FCC is moving to implement his Net Neutrality laws in spite of a court ruling which stated the FCC did not have this authority, the EPA is moving to advance Barack Obama’s cap and trade legislation after the bill failed in the Congress, and Barack Obama is preparing to implement gun control laws through Executive Order instead of moving the legislation through the Congress, so how are we to believe that Barack Obama will not grant amnesty to illegal aliens using an Executive Order? And let us not forget that he engaged America in a civil war in Libya without the consent of the Congress.
Granted, by using the EPA and the FCC to initiate policies he is not technically acting alone, but he is bypassing the Congress by using these rogue agencies and that certainly isn’t much different than if he were acting alone. He is ignoring the constitutional procedures in order to work his way around the Congress, and by doing so he is avoiding the checks and balances which are so important in assuring that one man does not become too powerful.
What Barack Obama doesn’t seem to grasp is the notion that all three branches of the federal government are equal, one does not stand above the other. Barack Obama feels as if he stands alone above the Congress and he uses a “crisis mentality” to create panic in the public in order to frighten the Congress into giving him what he wants.
He creates mini Reichstag fire moments in order to capitalize on them: healthcare was a crisis which led to Obamacare, gun violence at the border was a crisis which led to Gunrunner, the BP oil spill was a crisis which led to the illegal drilling moratorium, and now the debt ceiling is a crisis which Obama looks to take advantage of. All of these Reichstag moments build up over time and lead to an ever more powerful centralized government with Barack Obama at the helm–if the Congress will not go along to get along, Barack Obama moves along.
Now Dear Leader is basically stating that we have an immigration crisis and he finds it tempting to act alone. We have seen him skirt the Congress on numerous occasions in the past, why should we believe that Barack Obama will not give in to this temptation now if the Congress does not go along with comprehensive immigration reform? Does anyone else smell smoke? Is something burning?

You are right, there are many Americans who belong to this entitlement mentality and it is because the Democrats have purposely made them slaves to the state, but that was not the subject of this post. Thanks for stopping by.

Nice analogy Steve. A “Reichstag fire moment” – when you think about it that is exactly what he is doing. But instead of one big moment, he is creating a lot of smaller moments. And his comment about the temptation of doing it on his own – well, that’s the way he HAS been operating, Congress and Supreme Court be damned. And you are correct Sir, we do not need more laws, just enforce the ones we have. But I guess if you don’t like the current laws you have to invent new ones by Executive Order. He needs dethroning – soon.

Thank you Otis, Obama is using these mini-crisis which he has created through fear-mongering in order to shape public opinion, and if that doesn’t work he simply goes around the Congress. These are scary times my friend.

They are already granting amensty by letting known illegals go if they haven’t committed an additional crime, Lamar Smith is trying to stop this with HALT but we all know that HALT will be halted.

It does make one wonder just how far he is willing to go to implement his agenda. Methinks there is much more to Barack Obama than meets the eye. I am sorry to say, I trust him not in the least.

WE NEED FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY ON ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION. REDUCE THE DEBT CEILING BY MANDATING E-VERIFY, SECURE COMMUNITIES AND URGENTLY SECURING THE US BORDER.
Has any American thought to question the Liberals and Democrats, why they think the 1986 Immigration Control and Reform Act is broken? Is so, like any bill–why cannot be amended, as they are able with any law that passes through Congress? Again, the next question is why these people in the Senate are pushing for another Amnesty, when such an event would injure the American people adding to the bleeding national deficit. Even if the Congress found the votes to pass another Amnesty, isn’t it incredulously pathetic to add another 2.5 Trillion to the US treasury 14.5 Trillion dollars deficit. This is according to the Heritage Foundation Robert Rector’s projection, after analyzing the 1986 volume Amnesty that cost only 76 Billion dollars. Are you willing to have your tax dollars spent on legitimizing every person who breaks our laws? For over three decades nothing has been done, in fact the Simpson/Mazzoli bill was an absolute failure.
IF AMERICANS DON’T START SPEAKING UP AND DEMANDING THAT THEIR OWN INTERESTS ARE FULLY RECOGNIZED BY THE POLITICIANS, THEY WILL BE SADDLED WITH AT LEAST 20 MILLION FOREIGN NATIONALS, WHICH THEY WILL HAVE TO SUPPORT, PLUS GOD KNOWS HOW MANY FAMILY MEMBERS UNDER THE CHAIN MIGRATION LAW.
The world of Academia have stated in many publications, that is mostly Liberal progressive oriented media that immigration of any kind, is good for the economy? They insult Californians, Arizonians; Nevadans legal residents burgeoned down with a never ending influx of poverty, which taxpayers are–FORCED– to sustain. Fair’s statement is, “American taxpayers spend $113 billion annually subsidizing illegal immigration and padding the pockets of businesses addicted to cheap labor. Taxpayers at the state and local levels bear the brunt, providing $84 billion in services annually while the federal government spends $29 billion. In some states, reducing the fiscal burden of illegal immigration would represent nothing short of an economic miracle: The latter figure is — incidentally — almost exactly equal to the interest payment on the total federal debt this past April. Of course, the debt continues to grow uncontrollably because the government must borrow to keep up with, among other things, the growing cost of illegal immigration.
The report examines the likely consequences if an amnesty for the illegal alien population were adopted similar to the one adopted in 1986.Estimates are in–BILLIONS–of dollars. This is also based on only 13 million foreign nationals squatting here. The full report is available in pdf format. http://www.fairus.org/site/DocServer/USCostStudy_2010.pdf?docID=4921

Fair also provided, “The savings can’t be realized overnight because much of the expense is mandated by law requiring the education of the children of illegal aliens, many of whom are U.S. born, and for emergency medical treatment. But it is a responsible step in the right direction. Reducing these costs requires the administration to actually enforce existing immigration laws, complete border fencing, allow states to participate in the enforcement process, and otherwise deny benefits and incentives to illegal aliens. Fewer than 6 percent of legal immigrants were admitted because they possessed skills deemed essential to the U.S. economy. Most are admitted because of family ties to earlier immigrants, many of whom are living in poverty or near poverty. As a result, immigration bloats an already-existing surplus of low-skilled workers, increasing job competition and driving down wages for American workers.
We can all stand with our fellow jobless countryman by Calling House and Senate Leadership NOW Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 As a conclusion, Arizona needs our help from years of a neglected border and the flow of–ECONOMIC–foreign nationals. Don’t take my word for the facts, as you can find the ugly truth of the illegal settlement at NumbersUSA that has been forced upon us for over thirty years. There have been 6 hidden small Amnesties and the clandestine millions of skilled workers that have arrive here every year, in competition from US workers high paying jobs.

His “tempting” statement is basically pandering to his audience, since La Raza is a communist organization. We’ve seen the man say anything if he thinks it’ll benefit him in the short run. So does he really find the idea of doing things “on his own” and “above the system” tempting? Well, his behavior sure supports that. Lecturing us on our energy/fuel usage, treating the Tea Parties as if they are either dumb or don’t exist, calling folks bitter/clingers, saying that doctors perform unnecessary surgery for money, calling the wealth creators “fat cats,” wow the list could go on and on.
Also I’m starting to believe that he says these things specifically to get his enemies’ (that’s us, by the way) hackles up. And to promote devisiveness.
cheers!
