Gunrunner: DEA admits it was involved in Fast and Furious
The Gunrunner scandal may be on the verge of expanding once again, because according to this article the DEA is admitting to playing a role in the deadly operation. The DEA is now the second government agency to admit that it knew about and participated in the Gunrunner scandal, but we know there were others and it will only be a matter of time before they come out as well.
The head of the Drug Enforcement Administration has acknowledged to congressional investigators that her agency provided a supporting role in the ill-fated Operation Fast and Furious run by the group’s counterparts at the ATF.
Michele M. Leonhart, the DEA administrator, said DEA agents primarily helped gather evidence in cases in Phoenix and El Paso, and in the program’s single indictment last January that netted just 20 defendants for illegal gun-trafficking.
The DEA is claiming that they were a minor player in this scandal with no decision making power, however that is not what Bill Newell of the ATF claimed during his testimony–this will be an issue for the government Oversight Committee to sort out, but we do know this: The DEA was involved in evidence gathering at scenes where violent crimes were committed using guns that the United States sold to these known criminals. And we also know that the Washington Post was embedded with the ATF to act as a propaganda arm for the operation, and wrote a story which contained statistics gathered from these crime scenes. It stands to reason that the information used by the Washington Post was probably gathered by the DEA.
The web of lies and deceit is growing more tangled with every piece of information we learn. It is interesting to note the DEA’s involvement in this scandal because it does tie in nicely with Hillary Clinton’s comment back in 2009 when she said that America’s “insatiable demand for illegal drugs” and our “our inability to prevent weapons from being illegally smuggled across the border” was at least partially to blame for the violence at the Mexican border.
Did Hillary Clinton know at that time that the United States was actively involved in helping weapons land in the hands of known criminals and allowed these weapons to walk across the border once they did? I am sure it is more than likely. And what was the true goal of the DEA in this scandal? Is it possible that the DEA was engaging in the same type of behavior as the ATF and was allowing the drugs to be smuggled over the border in conjunction with the weapons? It wouldn’t be the first time the United States government allowed the sale of drugs to known drug gangs in return for “information.”
While the DEA has admitted to being involved in this scandal they still haven’t released the documents that Darrell Issa has requested and that leads one to wonder what exactly they are hiding, and what evidence they were gathering.
The Won, what did he know and when did he know it? What happens if DOJ, etc. refuse to release docs. that have been legally requested or redacted until nothing is apparent? Going to enjoy this investigation, oh wait, Bush did it!

If Bush did it they would have aready dragged him away in chains. 🙂 But because this has Obama’s fingerprints all over the media couldn’t care less about this.

This is becoming larger and more tangled as it moves along. And now the DEA is involved. And now Hillary is possibly involved. Heaven knows where it will all end. And nary a word from the MSM. How big does this have to get for them to say anything? If this would have been Bush, the MSM and everyone else on the left, would be calling for his head on a platter. Makes me wonder how big this thing will eventually get and who all else is involved. Also makes me think that Rahm Emanuel and Robert Gibbs got while the gettin’ was good.

This goes all the way to the top in my opinion and it is disgusting that the media is ignooring this story. This wouldn’t be the case if this were Bush, remember the controversy the left tried to make out of the firing of the attornies? That pales in comparision to this and yet the media is silent.

Can some one explain to me why so many gun owners are either silent or favor the Drug War?

I don’t get it. It is obvious. It has been going on for decades. And yet – nothing or very little to counter the policy has been written by the gun rights folks. At least up until this. Why?

I just think that many people dont know about this because it isn’t being reported.

OK. Let me be explicit:
The Drug War is a threat to your rights.
When are you going to do something about it?

If F & F goes anywhere and cronies start to be taken down the Press will cover it because they “eat their young”!

Maybe that is the only way we can get coverage; the media will start to cover it if they can take doen WAPO. What an indictment on the media that they would feel a WAPO coverup of this story is a biggery story than the scnadal itself.

Little by little the media is starting to cover this scandal. the more the do the hotter it becomes for Holder and Obama. Issa is a bull dog. He won’t let go of this bone.

That is good news, we just have to hope Issa can keep up the pressure long enough for this to get into the news. And I think he will.

As I’ve been saying, this is just drip, drip, drip. Eventually, the MSM will have to cover it. The question is, how will they slant it?

Good point Matt; they may eventually have to cover the story, but that doesn’t mean they have to cover it objectively. I am sure they will somehow try to place blame within the Tea party. The Tea party has replaced Bush as the cause of all evils according to the left and the media lately.
