Solyndra scandal: Barack Obama put a campaign donor ahead of the American taxpayers

September 16, 2011

It has been learned that the Obama regime rushed an evaluation on the green technologies company, Solyndra, in order to give Barack Obama a quick “victory” so Joe Biden could run around the country touting the virtues of the stimulus bill and Barack Obama’s “green energy” initiative. The Obama regime granted Solyndra a $500 million loan as part of the stimulus package despite warnings from some of his advisers that the company was a very risky investment and last week the company announced that it was closing its doors in spite of that loan.

Under the rules set forth in the stimulus bill the taxpayers were supposed to be the number one priority in any loan to a company in the event that a company went belly up, thus insuring that the taxpayers’ money was somewhat protected. But that did not happen in the case of Solyndra because the Obama regime restructured the loan to protect private investors in the company instead of the American taxpayers, and by an unbelievable coincidence one of those investors just happens to be a major Democrat contributor.

Still, Barack Obama is defending this restructuring:

Administration officials defended the loan restructuring, saying that without an infusion of cash earlier this year, solar panel maker Solyndra Inc. would likely have faced immediate bankruptcy, putting more than 1,000 people out of work.

So, without the stimulus money 1,000 people would have lost their jobs earlier this year but with the stimulus money these same employees were able to keep their jobs for a few more months before losing them anyways. In other words, it cost the American taxpayers $500 million to save 1,000 jobs for a few months–what a bargain!

It seems to me that it would have been better to let this company go bankrupt earlier this year than to give them $500 million to stave off bankruptcy for a few months. The end result was the same, only now the taxpayers are out of $500 million. And if the Obama regime had let the evaluation process go about its investigation on a normal timeline, and if the administration had listened to its advisers which told him this would happen, the taxpayers wouldn’t be out of this $500 million.

But the truth is that Barack Obama didn’t give a damn about the American taxpayer, and that is evidenced by the restructuring of this loan, he was only interested in using Solyndra to push his “green jobs” initiative. He needed a backdrop to promote this policy so he fast tracked the investigation into the solvency of this company to push his agenda and he got it. But while he was willing to sacrifice $500 million of the taxpayers’ money he was not willing to alienate a huge Democrat donor so he prioritized the loan to ensure that when Solydra failed his donor would be protected and the American taxpayer would be shit out of luck.

This shows us where his true priorities lie. With economic policies such as this is it any wonder that the United States of America is on the verge of insolvency itself?

I look at impeachment proceedings as serious business not to be taken lightly; however in light of the fast and the furious scandal and now this perhaps the we need to take a close look at whether this President should be impeached if the criminal activity is linked to his administration. Here is what the constitution says about the reason for impeachment. Article II, Section 4 states: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors. The key word is conviction. This is a man that will not resign so these scandals will have to be traced back to him or his administration if an impeachment is ever to take place.

There are now three potentially three major scandals brewing in this administration and I think it is time to start thinking about impeachment.

It makes one have serious thoughts about how much more it is going to take before this administration blows wide open.

It will probably take until the media quits covering for him and actually start doing what they used to do…REPORT THE FACTS, but not check first what party they are affiliated with. I believe they are really the biggest problem we have right now on getting the real facts out to the public. It has been so spun by the time it reaches the papers and airwaves that we have the watered down, politically correct version of what is going on. Until we hold them accountable for their actions, I don’t think this administration will be taken down. Don’t forget how powerful the MSM is, they are manipulative and from the looks of it can be bought. That’s just my opinion, imagine others have theirs.

The problem we face with the media is that even if the Congress does go after Obama the media will report it as a witch hunt or a racist movement and not report the crimes committed, so will the Congress dare to go after him?

Very true Rick, the MSM is becoming pretty irrelevant aren’t they?

The MSM is becoming irrelevant to most Conservatives, but don’t sell the Libs short on still listening to them. If taken at face value and not vetted, they can be almost believable and that is what they are hoping for. I agree they are becoming less a force of power than they used to be, but we still can’t turn our backs on them as not being with some sway.

My concern is that Solyndra is bad, really really bad, but Fast and Furious is horrific. Hundreds if not thousands of Mexican citizens are being slaughtered with the over 2000 guns and explosives that Holder let walk into the hands of the Mexican cartels.
Hannity is the only one, even on Fox, who is giving this extensive coverage.
LSM is starting to cover Solyndra but has been absolutely mute on Fast and Furious.
One is shady business practices the other is murder.

I would most likely believe that this administration would put the slaughtered citizens under the heading of “collateral damage”, this is totally unacceptable, but probably close to the truth. I doubt they have a limit to their madness, they just need to take the country down and do it quickly and with as little blame to them as possible. I think they will blame ANYONE besides themselves, that is the pattern I see.

I coudn’t agree more! Fast and Furious should go down as one of the biggest scandals in US history and one has to wonder if the media is reporting on Solyndra to cover for Fast and Furious.

So much money has been wasted on “green” technology and ethanol it’s almost criminal. Many “unreported” scandals in the Obama admin.
