Janeane Garofalo claims that Republican support of Herman Cain proves that Republicans are racists

September 29, 2011

When the Tea Party first came into existence it wasn’t taken very seriously by the left, but as the influence of the Tea Party in national politics became more pronounced the left realized that it posed a threat to their socialistic view of America’s future and the attacks began. The left took the “lazy man’s” approach to marginalizing the Tea Party by claiming that we couldn’t possibly be opposed to Barack Obama’s policies because, after all, he is a wonderful man so naturally they tried to claim that we only opposed Barack Obama because of the color of his skin. The Tea Party was nothing but an organized group of racists equivalent to the KKK or Nazi Germany–that became the left’s mantra. Instead of debating the Tea Party on the issues the left began to attack the Tea Party hoping to intimidate people from supporting the movement.

But a funny thing happened; along came a conservative candidate, who was embraced by the Tea Party, for the US House seat in Florida who happens to be both a true American hero and a black man–Allen West. The Tea Party embraced this man because of his political beliefs and they didn’t give a damn what the color of his skin was. But that didn’t stop the attacks from coming.

And now from relative obscurity comes another black man–Herman Cain–who won the Florida straw poll and is now starting to be considered as a front-runner for the GOP nomination. The people have listened to Herman Cain’s message and they like what they here, so naturally it is time for the left to begin attacking the Tea Party and the Republicans for embracing a black man.

I really do not intend to spend much time on what an “entertainer” has to say but I do think that this story deserves some of my time so here goes.

Janeane Garofalo has stated that because the Republicans are considering voting for Herman Cain it proves that they are racists. Here is what she had to say:

Herman Cain is probably well liked by some of the Republicans because it hides the racist elements of the Republican party. Conservative movement and tea party movement, one in the same.

“People like Karl Rove liked to keep the racism very covert. And so Herman Cain provides this great opportunity say you can say ‘Look, this is not a racist, anti-immigrant, anti-female, anti-gay movement. Look we have a black man.’

She is basically stating that the only reason Herman Cain is starting to do well in the polls is because he is a black man and Republicans are looking at him only to prove they are not racists, and in her mind this proves that the Republicans are in fact racists. Needless to say, I find this comment to be offensive. But while I find it offensive to the Tea Party and to Republicans in general I believe it should be even more offensive to Herman Cain and his beliefs.

With this statement she is ignoring the fact that maybe, just maybe, Herman Cain is a viable candidate for president. She is discrediting Herman Cain’s newfound popularity with her statement because it shows us that she feels he really isn’t a legitimate contender and is simply a token being used by the right because he is black. Herman Cain should be offended by this because it shows us the inherent racism of the left–if you are a black man and you are not a Democrat you are simply an Uncle Tom who is too naive to realize you are being used by the right; that is what Janeane Garofalo is implying with her statement and I feel this same mindset is prevalent in the Democrat party, and I expect more of this as the primaries get closer if Herman Cain continues to do well. Of course if Herman Cain falls in the polls we can also expect the left to say this is also because is is black.

I file this in the “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” category. If you do not vote for Barack Obama you must be a racist, yet if you vote for Herman Cain is also proves you are a racist. But if Herman Cain doesn’t win the nomination the left will also claim racism is to blame. The left wants to have it both ways, but the truth is that the left is running scared because Barack Obama’s POLICIES have failed and nobody gives a damn what the color of his skin is, and they see the writing on the wall.

Personally I find Herman Cain to be an American success story; he came from nothing and made himself into a very successful man and he did it without any help from the government and if truth be told, it is the last part of that statement that really bothers the left because they feel that the government is the key to an individual’s success. Personally I find it disgusting that people like Mz. Garofalo hold a man like Herman Cain in such disregard.

I too am outraged that a B-movie actress and 2nd rate comedian could have said such a thing.

First, welcome back Ben. It has been awhile and I fault myself for not writing anything which has enticed you to return until now. Second: based on your past comments I am going to assume that you are being sarcastic and probably a little snarky. And while I agree with what I think the point of you comment is–that this is not a big deal because it was simply made by a person of little to no relevance–my larger point was that this is not the end of this type of attack because people of more import are going to make these same type of stupid comments. This is only the beginning.

Not at all. She has the right to say this and I have the right to disagree. Just as you have the right to come here and voice an opinion with which I disagree, that is why I don’t delete any comments made here no matter how vile they may be at times. I am not sure how you concluded that I am against the first amendment because I never said she shouldn’t give her opinion and I never said you shouldn’t give your’s.

Ms. Garofalo MUST keep up the rhetoric – the more this idiot talks the more she damages the left. Its really that simple.

Can you imagine how desperate she must be? Cain would split the black vote and Obama would lose handily – it would be like a silver bullet in this vampire’s heart.

The more people like Garofolo talk the more we realize how scared they are.

My sentiments exactly. Just keep talking. Every time a leftist loon opens their mouth, Obama’s poll numbers sag.

Yep, no infringement here and as a matter of fast I welcome it because it shows us they are desperate.

The left can’t talk issues. that a sure loser for them. that leaves them with the race card and the class card and will keep playing both until voting day. Pathetic is what i call it.

Pathetic is a good description and this type of attack is all they have left because Obama has failed so miserably.

I don’t think anyone really cares what she has to say, but I am afraid there are many who DO agree with what she said.

First I have to say that I believe that the reason that we are in the mess we are in is because those who “Rule” over us have absolutely no business sense. What we need is someone who does to be the CEO of our country. This is the only out we have at this point. I like Mr. Cain and have since he decided to run.
As for Ms. Garofalo, she is following in the footsteps of her predecessors, denigrate, misinform and hide the truth at all costs. As has been stated they are in a quandary for facts and facts can not be the basis for any informed discussion for them so where do they land? They have to discredit any possible contender. Skin color to them is a vote getter. To us it’s irrelevant.

Exactly, they are losing the debate so they must attempt to denigrate us because they cannot win on the issues.

It really wasn’t even that worthy of writing about except that I expect more of this as we get closer to election day.
