Dick Durbin claims Republicans will “pay a price” for opposing Obama’s jobs bill
Barack Obama has been crossing the country on the campaign trail telling anyone who will listen that the Republicans in the Congress are holding up his jobs bill while demanding that the Congress pass the bill right away. But that is not quite true is it? In fact it is the Democrats in the Senate who are unwilling to vote on Barack Obama’s latest round of stimulus spending disguised as a jobs bill.
At one point REPUBLICAN Mitch McConnell asked Harry Reid to bring the president’s job bill to the floor for a vote but this was blocked by DEMOCRAT Harry Reid who claimed that the Senate had more important issues to work on before they got to the jobs bill. Still, this hasn’t stopped the Democrats from trying to blame the Republicans for this bill being stalled in the Congress and Dick Durbin is the latest to speak out on this issue:
I hope there will be. And I’ll tell you, if the Republicans take the current position and hold it, that they’ll do nothing, I think they’ll pay a price for it,” Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said about the jobs bill
Yes, the Republicans do oppose this jobs bill, but what Dick Durbin is ignoring is the fact that the Democrats also oppose this legislation as evidenced by the fact that Harry Reid will not bring the bill to the floor for a vote; if the Democrats supported the bill Harry Reid would bring it to the floor in an attempt to get the Republicans on the record as being opposed to this legislation, thusly proving Barack Obama’s point.
This bill actually has bipartisan non-support and the reason for this is simple; the American people have rejected Barack Obama’s failed economic policies and they see this as more of the same. Nobody in either party is ever going to vote in favor of this legislation before the election and Barack Obama knows this. But that will not stop people like Barack Obama and Dick Durbin from claiming that it is the fault of the Republicans if this bill does not pass.
The problem with this argument is the fact that the vast majority of the people do not want this bill to pass and this strategy could backfire on Dear Leader because Republicans will be credited with–not blamed for–stopping Barack Obama from wasting trillions more of the taxpayers dollars, and Dick Durbin must be living in an alternative reality if he thinks the people will hold it against Republicans if this bill doesn’t pass.
But this just goes to show us the low regard in which people like Dick Durbin and Barack Obama hold the intelligence of the American people because they do not think we can see through their little game.

“bipartisan non-support” _ Good one , Steve!

Thank you, I liked that one myself! 🙂

Steve,
You are exactly right, Democrats are always throwing the term elitist around to describe Republicans and paint them as wealthy out of touch politicians that don’t care about any one but the rich. The truth is Dems are the real elitist that view the American people as mindless cattle that they can herd into voting which ever way they want them to. We need to keep getting the word out and educate people to their ways. Not many people know what happened in congress last week when McConnell exposed this lie that President Obama has been pedaling across the country to the American people. Even if this bill passed and it worked by some weird Twilight Zone chance what happens to the people that aren’t construction workers, teachers cops or firemen? I will tell you what happens they will still be out of work, this guy wants to spend $450 billion to create 1.5 million jobs that’s $200,000 per job, how many jobs do you think a person like Steven Wynn or Donald Trump could create if you gave them say $10 million or lets get crazy and give them $1 billion, I can guarantee it will be a whole lot more then President Obama.

I think you are right that many Americans do not even know that McConnell called Obama’s bluff last week and Ried refused to vote on it, and that is sad because the people who aren’t paying attention to what is really going on are mostly going to believe Obama and vote for him.

What is it with all these “test votes”? How many can they have before they know they have the amount to pass it? I think this should be illegal, vote or don’t vote, but this to me is wrong or illegal to do.

Not sure how the rules work here, but it is a procedure to gauge support for the bill and I think there can only be one test vote, but I don’t know for sure.

This comment by my fine senator Dirty Richard Durbin is an almost direct quote from the Chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus in the early 1990’s. Kweisi Mfume in an address to the CBC said that if the government does not include minorities and the poor in the prosperity of America that we would pay for it. This was a veiled threat of riots and unrest if the standards for loans through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac weren’t relaxed. Well they relaxed the standards and we now see the result of outcome based home ownership. Dick Durbin isn’t quite as corrupt as Obama (he really isn’t as smart) but what he is, is a Democrat Lap Dog. He is the worst of the worst! He doesn’t know what he is doing, he is just given his marching orders and follows them.
All this “Jobs Bill” is, is a payoff to the Union Membership right before an election. This is desperation in it’s finest form and needs to be shot down like a Zero at Pearl Harbor.

Exactly right, all this is is another slush fund designed to pay off Democrat special interest groups and I hope that the people can see this for what it is.

True, Phillip, I can’t add anything else from the fine state of Illinois, think you covered it.

This so called Jobs Bill is anything but. It is loaded with all kinds of drivel to drive our economy into the ground. Why the GOP does not call him on it, beats me.

I don’t know why the Republicans aren’t out there calling him out either but it is frustrating as hell.

Is that the same Dick Durbin that claims illegal aliens can become president?

Yes it is, I forgot about that one.

Ah, speaking a bit OT, RJ, have you heard of an “Immigrant Service Center” with housing? We came up I-57 thru southern Illinois on the way home yesterday and at the border there is such an area. My husband thought he had been told it was a place for the migrant workers to stay as they passed thru harvesting the cotton, etc. I had never seen one before…just wondered if anyone had. Of course this IS Illinois so we have open arms with our Governor on this, it is just that WE the People have to pay for it, not him.

I haven’t heard of them so I am no help but I would be interested if anyone does know about this.

I will do a bit of research on this. Maybe Phillip knows, but I don’t know what part of the state he is in. Our Governor Quinn has his arms open to illegals AND welfare recipients at our expense. Is it any wonder that big business is moving out?

Well, found it. You all might want to take a look at this from the department of homeland security. Apparently these places are all over and they are there just to “help”. Guess the “resident non-citizen” is who it helps. Is that code words for “illegals”? Sorry I brought this topic up because we should see damage control hitting from the drive-bys shortly. It is an interesting website, at any rate.

I don’t know Lou, I checked that website. Technically, they could make a case for services for legal non-citizens. Technically.

RJ, maybe it is a catch-all for anyone they want to help, who knows. I guess I am wondering if there is something for legal non-citizens, why is there not something for legal citizens the same way? I know there is welfare and medicaid, but what about the people who work, but have no insurance and could use some help? Oh I forgot, that is OBAMACARE. It is just strange that I have not heard of it and I imagine I am paying for it with the Illinois State Tax Money I pay.

The more I read about this, it appears that the immigrants have alot of benefits and help to assimilate into our country. They have housing, medical, help with jobs, schooling, etc. It would be nice if the citizens here from birth had those same options offered to them. Apparently most states have these “service centers”. Illinois has, from what I read, 25 of them across the state.

There is nothing on that website that says you have to be a legal alien resident, simply a resident non-citizen. I am sure they are lax when it comes to checking immigration status if they check it at all and I do find it interesting that these non-citizens are given all of these services.

Democrats don’t want to touch this one either as you pointed out!
Much irony here.

No they don’t, they just want to try to blame Republicans for not passing the bill even though there has been no chance to vote on it.

As for paying the price, we have paid the price for going on three years because of the “feel gooders” voting this man in. I guess we can afford to be blamed for yet another “Republican’s fault”. At some point doesn’t the blame need to shift to the ones really at fault??? Surely someone will get this.
