Solargate: Have you heard about the SunPower controversy?

October 15, 2011

Have you heard about the latest controversy about to rock the Obama regime? It is much the same as the Solyndra and LightSquared scandals, only much worse. For those of you unfamiliar with the Solyndra scandal I will give you a brief synopsis from a post I wrote on it earlier this year:

Solydra was a green energy company that Barack Obama wished to make the centerpiece of his new green jobs initiative, and the owner just happened to be a major donor to the Obama campaign, so he fast tracked a review into the solvency of the company in order to present Joe Biden with the needed backdrop to announce the initiative. By doing so Barack Obama ignored the warning signs and granted Solyndra a $500 million loan in stimulus funds. Predictably the company went bankrupt and because Barack Obama changed the rules agreed to in the stimulus bill the campaign donor was granted priority over the American taxpayer for any funds recouped in the bankruptcy. The campaign donor was protected and the American taxpayer is on the hook for the entire $500 million.

Here is a little background on the LightSquared scandal:

A company called  LightSquared which is run by a major Democrat donor,  Philip Falcone, was developing a new technology which the Pentagon feared would interfere with the military’s GPS system and the Congress was beginning to hold hearings about the Pentagon’s worries. A four-star Air Force general, William Shelton, was set to testify in front of the Congress but his prepared testimony was leaked to the White House. The White House was unhappy with the testimony because it was unfavorable to a major Democrat campaign donor, so they asked the general to change his testimony when he appeared before the Congress.

What could be worse than wasting $500 million in taxpayer money on a company that was going bankrupt so that 1,000 jobs could be saved for a couple of months while the taxpayers got screwed and the share holders were protected, all in an attempt to push the Obama regime’s green energy initiative as the future of manufacturing in America? And what could be worse than pressuring a General to change his testimony to help a company with a tie to a major Democrat donor at the expense of national security?

How about giving $1.2 billion to SunPower–a corporation inundated with fraud lawsuits by the company’s share holders and over $800 million in debt, which almost certainly will end up going under–so that the company could build a new plant in Mexico while creating just 15 permanent jobs (that comes to $80 million per job) in America if the company somehow does manage to survive? Oh, and if that wasn’t bad enough there is the little fact that the company donated to Democrats and is in Democrat George Miller’s district, and George Miller’s son just happens to be a lobbyist for SunPower?

We now have three burgeoning scandals revolving around Barack Obama’s green energy initiative and the stimulus bill; this proves to me that Barack Obama’s ideology has blinded whatever common sense Barack Obama might have had. But what the hell does he care because it isn’t his money he is wasting, it is (was) our money.

There seems to be no end to the corruption in this government. Whats more there seems to be little effort to hide it. He really believes that he is The One!

C on F, there really is no end as long as the sheeple accept it and it appears most are just not that concerned with it. Maybe they are not seeing the big picture here, but who is to blame? MSM or themselves for being so accepting of what they are being told?

I think it goes hand in hand. People like to believe when they turn on the news that they are getting the truth so many people don’t question what they hear on the news, and they don’t realize what isn’t being reported unless they get their news on the internet.

He just doesn’t think anone should question him and this is due to his arrogance, but it is starting to catch up to him.

I bet this is just the tip of the iceberg. Billions were givien out on the very last day before the option to do it expired. One can bet there will be more like it. Yet they are howling on wall street, and no one give a damn about this. Go figure.

B, it is just plain complacence, I guess. As for the Wall Street bunch and others around the country we should be very watchful of them. They are what I believe could be the start of “Obama’s army” and it took next to nothing for him to get them out on the street. They are doing exactly what he wants them to do AND will do violence if needed. Tip of the iceberg, indeed.

There is no doubt that strories like this are going to continue to arise as the days go on because nobody really knows where all of that stimulus money went.

This is the first time I have heard about this, Steve. I think you stated it well when you said any common sense that Barack Obama may have had has taken it’s leave. I am inclined to agree with Bunkerville. This is probably just the tip of a very large iceberg of things that have yet to be revealed.

LD, just given his track record, there is more here than meets the eye and it is a good thing that Steve brings this one up as well as the previous “green” issues.

It hasn’t had much play yet, but I have started hearing stories about SunPower over the last few days. I think you and Bunkerville are right about this also; there is no doubt that this is only the beginning because we really have no idea where all the stimulus money went and as we find out I expect there will be more stories like this one.

Libs explain this away by saying new technology doesn’t always pan out and you’ll lose some money. The thing is, while this might be true, it’s easy to see if a company will work out or not.

Harrison, it appears that they knew before hand that the money was not there. Weren’t advisors “advising” against some of this? Nothing like sinking “billions” into an already failed company is there! If it was their money, well, guess we would not have anything to say about it, but it is so easy to use others money and if it doesn’t work out,,,,oh well!!!! I would say they are NOT making wise decisions, wouldn’t you?

It may be true but what the libs need to understand is that it isn’t up to the government to help a company stay in business just because that company might help to promote an agenda.

Ah, but Steve, they think it is up to them. We are in very bad shape with this way of thinking from this administration. We are going under fast AND having to pay for it, too.

Yes they do, so that just means we are going to have to vote them out of office before they can do any more damage. I just hope it isn’t too late by that time.

At what point does this become a criminal enterprise? Obama’s “you win some you lose some” excuse isn’t going to cut it.

RJ,I believe this administration has been in the “criminal” phase from the get go. What a chance he has taken. How many green companies do you invest the peoples money in before you know it is not a wise choice at this time? He must be either a slow learner OR stupid OR doesn’t care. Hmmm.

I think we are well passed that point, and I did a post a little while back about Issa investigating Solyndra and LightSquared. I wonder what is happening with that.

Cronyism is the root cause of much of the corruption in our government.

Consider also what just happened in a federal court in Texas. A Dallas business owner was involved in a civil dispute and paid millions of dollars to lawyers, and when he objected to additional fees after settling the case, they had a “friendly” judge seize all of his possessions, without any notice or hearing, and essentially ordered him under “house arrest” as an involuntary servant to the lawyers. The business owner has been under this “servant” order for 10 months and is prohibited from owning any possessions, prohibited from working, etc..

…and some quotes from the judge:

THE COURT: “I’m telling you don’t scr-w with me. You are a fool, a fool, a fool, a fool to scr-w with a federal judge, and if you don’t understand that, I can make you understand it. I have the force of the Navy, Army, Marines and Navy behind me.”

THE COURT: “You realize that order is an order of the Court. So any failure to comply with that order is contempt, punishable by lots of dollars, punishable by possible jail, death”

http://www.lawinjustice.com has an explanation of this case.
