Barack Obama sends United States combat troops into Africa

October 16, 2011

In what might be the most under-reported story since the Obama regime began it was announced late on Friday afternoon that Barack Obama has committed 100 United States combat troops to participate in  Uganda’s civil war. In compliance of the War Powers Act Barack Obama sent a letter to the Congress two days after committing the troops to inform the Congress of his decision. (After most of the Congress had already left.)

“I have authorized a small number of combat equipped U.S. forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of Joseph Kony from the battlefield

These forces will act as advisors to partner forces that have the goal of removing from the battlefield Joseph Kony and other senior leadership of the LRA,” said Obama.  “Our forces will provide information, advice, and assistance to select partner nation forces. Subject to the approval of each respective host nation, elements of these U.S. forces will deploy into Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.”

“On October 12, the initial team of U.S. military personnel with appropriate combat equipment deployed to Uganda

He also informed the Congress that this was just the first phase of the operation and more combat troops would follow in the next month:

During the next month, additional forces will deploy, including a second combat-equipped team and associated headquarters, communications, and logistics personnel

Barack Obama went out of his way to highlight the fact that these troops will not be conducting combat operations, and instead will be providing support but there is no guarantee that these troops will not be placed in harm’s way and that begs me to ask the questions: What issue of national security justifies this action? And, what clear, present, and imminent danger is te United States in that justifies this action?

After all, this is the man who ran on the promises of closing GITMO in his first year as president, as well as bringing an end to the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. But instead the wars rage on past his promised end date, GITMO remains open, Barack Obama has escalated the war in Afghanistan, and he has committed the United States in Libya’s civil war. These are all contrary positions to the man whose mere election won him the Nobel Peace Prize.

The far left had no problem labeling George W Bush and Dick Cheney as war criminals, and the media had no problem whatsoever in attacking President Bush for his war policies and yet both the far left and the media haven’t even found this story worth a mention.

I want to know what the justification for this action is, and I think that the American people deserve to know why the president has sent troops into another country’s civil war. I expect the Congress to take up this issue immediately and press the president on the need for this action. This is what a responsible Congress would do, but I won’t be holding my breath however, because the Congress voted not to authorize the Libya action under the War Powers Act when it came to a vote and yet Barack Obama remains in violation of that act because we are still engaged in Libya and nobody in the Congress is doing a damned thing about it.

Why the hell is this our problem. Africa is a lot closer to Europe than the US. Oh, I forgot Europe, who has been ridding on our military coat tails for 60 years and not having to spend hardly anything on their own military, is broke. NEWS FLASH, we are broke! Boehner and the Republicans better get off their butts and demand some answer or just cut off the funds. I’m tired of this crap!

I hope they demand answers, but we have seen them to be quite week on these issues so I expect Obama to get a free pass.

I am not usually a fan of us sending troops anywhere…but I am glad Obama is assisting in this. The Lord’s Resistance Army has been abusing the people of Uganda for a long time. It truly is a humanitarian crisis. Do I think there is some hipocracy here in the administration? Sure I do. Do I think it is funny that they are doing this but they bashed Bush for “only taking out Suddam? Yes I do. But I also think it is time for the world to stand up for the people of Uganda. They are humans. They are suffering. We need to do something about it. I posted about this today. It was from earlier this year when I talked about this situation in Uganda with the LRA. It is a repost. http://wp.me/p1Jaiq-6I

I know I am going to get bashed here for supporting this, but I do think it is the right thing to do. I am a conservative, but you probably don’t believe it (it is true, though).

I am sure the LRA is a horrible organization but I fail to see what business we have over there. We simply cannot involve ourselves in every humanitarian crisis across the globe.

So let’s say Bush was in office and elections were coming up and he sent troops in… would that be to distract people from the economy?

Why was Congress notified here and not in the case of Libya?

What vital American interests are at stake in Uganda?

All good questions Harrison and I hope that somebody in the Congress stands up and asks them.

Well I’ve got to admit it’s a surprise

In the wake of his glorius lead-from-behind partial victory in Libya, Obama loves interveining now… who’d a thunk it

Wouldn’t it be great if he gave a rat’s patootie about, say, IRAN rather than the friggin “Lord’s Resistance Army”… good grief

Agreed! Why does Obama feel as if this is a cause worthy of risking American lives?!

See! It’s starting. He’s trying to keep as few as possible of our troops here so he can start to implement his master plan to disarm us. No U.S. troop would EVER follow a command to fire on a U.S. civilian. BO knows this. Once enough are gone, in will swoop the U.N.’s military, and BO’s “Homeland Security Task Force” that is made up of mostly muslims (this is also fact; billions were set aside for these mysterious training camps in his healthcare Bill)
And take a guess where these places are….out of the way places like Uganda and South America.

You know Adam, a few years back I would never have even considered thinking that our government would do what you just said,,,now???? I guess what I am saying, is I do not put anything past this administration anymore and everything needs to be questioned. Something as far fetched as this is starting to sound normal for this group in OUR HOUSE, that is the scarey part of it. We need to be very watchful.
