Gunrunner: Hillary Clinton testifies that the “Justice” Department did not apply for a waiver to send guns into Mexico

October 28, 2011

Hillary Clinton testified in front of the House Foreign Relations Committee yesterday and it appears as if she had two goals she wanted to accomplish; the first goal being to cover her own ass by distancing herself from the growing Fast and Furious scandal and the second, protecting the “Justice” Department by introducing plausible deniability.

Hillary Clinton testified that as far as she knew the “Justice” Department did not request a waiver, which was needed under federal law, when weapons were going to be transferred to another nation.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton testified in the House Foreign Relations Committee Thursday that there was “no record” that the Justice Department had given the State Department a “head up” about Operation Fast and Furious, in which guns were allowed to flow from the United States to drug traffickers in Mexico, and that the State Department had found “no evidence” that DOJ had applied for a license or waiver to send guns to a foreign country, which a member of the committee told her would have been required under U.S. law.

She probably feels as if she accomplished both goals; by stating that the State Department didn’t sign off on the deal she figures she protected the State Department and herself, and she probably feels as she protected the “Justice” Department because if they didn’t request a waiver it must be proof that the “Justice” Department didn’t know what was going on–plausible deniability in both cases.

But in my opinion this just adds more fuel to the fire about the possibility of a government coverup. If we are to take Hillary Clinton at her word that she never saw paperwork from the “Justice” Department for a waiver request–and this in itself is a great leap of faith because as we learned in the Whitewater scandal all those years ago, paperwork has a way of vanishing around the Clinton’s when it is convenient–one has to wonder if the “Justice” Department was ignorant of the operation or if they were operating outside the law. No waiver request means there is no paper trail and perhaps there was an implied agreement.

Her testimony leaves only two possible scenarios; either the State and “Justice” Departments were woefully ignorant of what was happening right under their noses, or they knew about it all along and sanctioned the program which led to the deaths of two Border Patrol Agents. Either way it leads me to believe there is a coverup. Either the Obama regime is trying to coverup its incompetence or it is trying to cover up its criminality and both options are an indictment of the Obama regime.

Being incompetent at this level is only slightly better than being criminal and one could argue that when you are faced with protecting the people of a nation there really is no difference between incompetence and criminality.

She will have no “recollection”. Seems to be the word she used when her husband was in office and they had to answer questions. It is apparent that either there are a bunch of idiots running the United States, or they are thumbing their noses at us and daring us to do anything to them…possibly both. “Dysfunctional” is the word I would use for this administration. It is one thing when you use that word for a family, quite another when you are using it for running a country.

WOW! Thanks for that link, I was not aware of this. If this is allowed to happen no documents will ever be released again and this is coming from the most transparent government in US history?

Exactly! This is the most corrupt administration ever. No one should underestimate what they are capable of doing.

Everytime I think they couldn’t stoop any lower they manage to do so. I am no longer surprised by anything this regime does.

C on F, the way I see it is that they are doing it AND getting away with it. Is it that people are not looking or maybe they are so shocked and can’t believe what they are seeing? I don’t think there has ever been a more corrupt group of people in this administration, has there? Steve, there are those of us watching this unfold and then there are those of us that just pay no attention to the political scene. At least we will know when we have been had, but those other poor people will say something stupid like, “when did this happen”!

Lou, it is the people who don’t pay attention that I am most worried about because many of them vote. You would like to thenk that a person would pay attention to the issues and educate themselves before heading to the polls but sadly there are many people who simply vote without educating themselves. This is my biggest worry headed into 2012, how many people don’t know about these scandals and are prepared to blindly vote for Obama based on his campaign rhetoric.
