Gunrunner: Weapons sold under Fast and Furious were targets of gun control advocates, not of Mexican drug lords
According to this article Barack Obama had a conversation with Jim Brady regarding gun control:
“I just want you to know that we are working on it,” Brady recalled the president telling them. “We have to go through a few processes, but under the radar.”
In the meeting, she said, Obama discussed how records get into the system and what can be done about firearms retailers. Her husband specifically brought up the proposed ban on large magazine clips, and she noted that even former vice president Dick Cheney had suggested that some restrictions on the clips might make sense.
“He just laughed,” Sarah Brady said approvingly of the president. Both she and her husband, she emphasized, had absolute confidence that the president was committed to regulation.
Barack Obama told Jim Brady that he was working on gun control legislation but first certain processes had to be worked on under the radar. That certainly is an interesting quote, isn’t it? What did Barack Obama mean when he said he was working on things under the radar?
Fast and Furious comes to mind, but of course the official explanation for the scandal is the weapons were sold to straw purchasers so that they could be traced back to known Mexican drug lords, so how could this be part of a plan to implement gun control laws on law abiding American citizens?
Well, according to the same article it turns out that the types of weapons which were sold under Operation Fast and Furious were weapons that were targeted by gun control advocates and not guns that Mexican drug lords were interested in purchasing in the United States. If this is true it could proof of a government conspiracy which I have been writing about for quite some time.
Back in March of 2009, before Fast and Furious was exposed, I wrote this article about what I thought was the Obama regime’s plan to use violence at the Mexican border as a “crisis” to implement new gun control laws, and I came to this conclusion because of statements made by Hillary Clinton. A few short days later a report was released which claimed that 90% of the weapons recovered from the scenes of violent crimes at the Mexican border were purchased in the United States, but that turned out to be a lie.
Enter what I believe is the true goal of the Fast and Furious operation; ensure that the 90% number is reached by whatever means necessary. The United States sold weapons to straw purchasers but they never tracked them because they wanted the weapons to turn up at crime scenes in order to meet the 90% number.
If Brian Terry wasn’t murdered with one of these weapons the operation would probably still be in effect and the push would be on to institute strict gun control laws. In my opinion, this is what Barack Obama meant when he told Jim Brady that he was working on things under the radar that had to be done before he could ban certain types of weapons–there can be no other reason for authorizing the purchase of weapons which the drug lords didn’t want, but the American people did want–and if this is true it means that Barack Obama knew about Operation Fast and Furious from the very beginning and approved of the deadly scandal.

Of course he knew! These are just “details”, I can’t for a moment believe that so many of the upper level people knew nothing, can you? Last time I checked, I did not have “stupid” or “gullible” stamped across my forehead. How much lying does it take before the people say “enough” and throw the whole bunch out?

I agree, there is no way that he didn’t know. And there is no way that Napolitano, Holder, and Clinton didn’t know either. They think that we are too stupid to realize what they were up to but we will have the last laugh, if not in this investigation it will be in 2012 when we vote.

I wish the Perry family had the resources to bring a wrongful death suit against Holder. This is a civil action that only requires a preponderance of evidence and not a beyond all doubt evidence that a criminal charge requires.

There was talk at one time about a possible trial. The “Justice” Department refused to grant the Terry family victimhood status in the murderes trial, which was very unusual in a murder case. and it sounded like they were trying to cover themselves in the event of a lawsuit.

I think you have hit the nail on the head, Steve. I have had people question me about my distrust of Barack Obama on the 2nd Amendment. They would like to claim he isn’t attacking it, but I felt all along he was working behind the scenes, or as he put it, under the radar. This proves that theory and should give all of us an extra incentive to defeat him next year.

He is no friend of the second amendment, that is for sure. But he was working on something behind the scenes and I think we know what that was now, how sneaky is this guy?

Of course you are right about it LD. Without guns we are pretty much done, aren’t we? He know that until he gets rid of the guns, we will fight for what we have.

Disarm the people and then lead the revolution. That was the plan; we are seeing the OES revolution but luckily this scandal broke before Obama could begin the gun grabbing.

Guns too expensive and not what the cartels want? There’s something wrong with the PJ link story. There’s something more to this. They certainly didn’t need to cross the border if they wanted to get guns into the wrong hands. Issa said this is bigger than Iran-Contra. There’s something else going on here.

It is an interesting angle. I had never thought about it before, but why would the srug cartels send buyers into American gun stores if they could buy the weapons on the black market and probably cheaper? And it is interesting that they weapons that were bought just happen to be the same types of weapons that they want to crack down on here in the United States.
This is a huge scandal and I am sure there is more to this story, perhaps they had more than one goal they were trying to reach with this plot.

RJ, I think you are onto something with your comment. The story IS a bit “off”, isn’t it? Which is it, was it into the wrong hands or the wrong guns? Possibly this story is being made up as it unfolds?

My comment is like with Steve Dennis I agree, there is no way that he didn’t know. And there is no way that Neapolitan, Holder, and Clinton didn’t know either. It really is insulting for them to think they can fool us by claiming that some rogue agent acted alone in implementing an internation gun trafficking operation and that none of them knew of it or had to approve what was going on.

SD you are 100% correct. They are looking for at least legislation for the sale of “long guns”.

OIG According to 18 U.S.C. § 923(g)(3), gun dealers must report multiple sales of handguns to their local ATF field office using a Report of Multiple Sales or Other Disposition of Pistols and Revolvers form (multiple sales report).
OIG While long guns are increasingly the Mexican cartels’ preferred gun, there is no legal requirement in the United States to report multiple sales of these weapons. As a result, multiple sales reporting has become less viable to ATF as a source of intelligence to identify firearms trafficking organizations and disrupt the illegal flow of weapons to Mexico.

Thanks for that link, I haven’t made it all they way through it but it is very interesting indeed. I had heard the story about cracking down on law abiding American citizens who purchase multiple guns and wrote about how this was obsurd in light of the fact that the US sold guns to criminals. This whole thing stinks!

I’m glad you liked that link because it is the wrong one. The correct link for the information is http://www.justice.gov/oig/reports/ATF/e1101.pdf
I was looking at both reports and got them confused. I think my head is exploding.

Now I am part way through both links and this one is even better than the last one. In this link the report admits that this was an OCDETF operation, and that would require the DOJ to sign off on it. And Holder says he knew nothing? It also debunks the 90% lie and admits that the ATF wasn’t tracking the weapons. This is good stuff!
