Power is back on

October 31, 2011

Just wanted to let everyone know that at some point today we got our power back, while I was at work, so I am back in cyberspace again. The outage didn’t last as long as I had feared.

I am going to spend tonight trying to catch up with what I have missed in the blogosphere and will resume posting tomorrow.

Thanks for all well wishes everyone.

It is amazing how reliant we are on this computer, isn’t it? I will take it over the town newspaper any day. As for your power being back on, I remember when we had the ice storm and power outage….the guys/ladies that came around to get the power back on worked in horrible conditions and were greatly appreciated for what they did. They worked long hours, so I know they earned their pay on those days.

It is easy to complain about it taking so long for the power to come back on and maybe there is some fault to be laid at the feet of the powere companies, but the people on the streets in this weather working to restore the power should not be forgotten.

Why didn’t you just fire up the generators in your bunker, Steve?

I had the generator going but didn’t have internet access. Can’t have it all I guess. 🙂

A good lesson for the Progressives! The ole rednecks came up from Kentucky to help a lot of the Lehigh Valley out. I wonder if they have caught on yet that they can’t live it by themselves??

You mean the bitter Bible and gun clingers might actually be good for something? Someone should tell the president.

It is nice to be able to have help, but in the end you need to rely on your own knowledge and preparation for emergencies. If you prepare for the worst the best you can, usually you’ll be alright. It is the ones that expect someone else to take care of them that will fall short and be the biggest whinners. Just like when you ask someone what they are doing if times get bad,,,,comments like “I will just come to your house” are pretty stupid.

And a perfect example of people not being able to take care of themselves can be seen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
