Solargate: Energy Secretary Steven Chu wishes he had a do over
The House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee is investigating the Obama regime’s Solyndra scandal and today Energy Secretary Steven Chu testified before the committee and claimed that he wished he could have a do over.
Certainly knowing what I know now, we’d say no,” Chu said during a hearing in the House Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee. “But you don’t make decisions [by] fast-forwarding two years in the future and then go back. I wish I could do that
This statement echoes Barack Obama’s “hindsight is 20/20″ defense:
Hindsight is always 20/20,” Obama told “Good Morning America” anchor George Stephanopoulos in an interview broadcast online Monday. “It went through the regular review process and people felt that it was a good bet
There is one small problem with this line of defense; it is a lie. We now know that the regular review process was not followed because the review was fast tracked for political reasons, and we know there were people within the Obama regime who knew this was not a good bet.
Steven Chu and Barack Obama can claim that if they knew then what they know now they would not have approved the loan, but they are ignoring the fact that they could have known then what they know now if they had allowed the review process to take its proper course.
The fact is that this regime did not want to know then what they know now because they were more interested in funneling money to top Democrat donors (so that the money could then be donated back into Democrat campaign coffers) before the review process told them what many in the regime already knew–this was a dangerous investment-and they felt they had to strike while the iron was hot. And because the Obama regime did in fact know that Solyndra was a dangerous investment they took special care to ensure the Democrat donating shareholders were protected in the event of a bankruptcy while leaving the taxpayers on the hook for the $500 million loan guarantee.
If the Obama regime did in fact feel as if this was a good bet why did they feel it necessary to ensure that top political donors would be protected?
Steven Chu and Barack Obama felt that if Solyndra went under they would be able to sweep this under the rug therefore they were not concerned with the consequences, but the American people have found out what the “green initiative” policy and the stimulus bill were really all about, creating a huge slush for Democrat donors, and now they wish they had a do over.
They may very well wish they had a do over now, but not because they are sorry for losing millions of taxpayers dollars, but because they were caught. If they knew then what they know now they would have simply been more discreet, and that is what they are really upset about.

The level of corruption, cronyism and cover-ups in our country is starting to resemble Nigeria or a banana republic.
Consider also what just happened in a federal court in Texas. In this case, As described at http://LawInjustice.com , a Dallas business owner was involved in a civil dispute and paid millions of dollars to lawyers, and when he objected to additional fees after settling the case, they had a “friendly” judge, appointed by President Clinton, seize all of his possessions, without any notice or hearing, and essentially ordered him under “house arrest” as an involuntary servant to the lawyers and denied a jury trial. The business owner has been under this “servant” order for 10 months and is prohibited from owning any possessions, prohibited from working, etc..
