Gunrunner: “Justice” Department tries to explain how it provided false information to Senator Grassley

December 3, 2011

In the latest Friday document dump the “Justice” Department released internal documents which are supposed to show how the department ended up sending Senator Charles Grassley a letter which contained false information about the murderous Fast and Furious operation.

The new position of the “Justice” Department goes something link this: Dennis Burke (who has resigned) and William Hoover (who was reassigned in return for his silence) were debating in emails over how much information should be handed over to the investigation because Brian Terry’s murder was still being investigated. Naturally this means they wanted to release less information.

While this debate was going on they began to draft the “Justice” Department’s letter to Charles Grassley (this is the letter which contained lies about what the “Justice” Department knew and when they knew it) and while this letter was being drafted some false information just happened to be inserted.

In each draft of this letter the rhetoric was toned down–apparently because they must have realized they knew more than they were letting on. But still this false information remained in the final draft of the letter, and now the “Justice” Department has withdrawn the letter from the Congress.

It would appear to me that this is an effort by the “Justice” Department to show the Congress that all necessary measures have already taken place with the removal of the two people who originally drafted the letter. This is nothing but an attempt to blame two people who have already been reprimanded, while attempting to distance Eric Holder from the scandal as he readies himself to testify in front of the Oversight Committee next month.

Eric Holder believes that this new information will provide him with the cover he needs, but all it does is uncover even more incompetency from within the “Justice” Department and for that alone Eric Holder should resign.

This is terrific news. Of course a Friday dump. After they sealed the records on agent Brian Terry’s death, it looked like it was going to be a tough slog to keep the story going.

I wonder how much longer it is going to take before they flat out don’t remember what lies they have already told, B? The problem with lying is that at some point you forget what you told to who, that is when the problems really start. I have to give them credit that they have come this far and still not been taken down, but you can thank the MSM for the additional cover they have given. Have they said for sure if cameras will be allowed in when they question AG Holder? If they do, I will be watching, for sure.

At some point they do have to lose track of their stories and when they do perhaps that is when we will get them.

It sure does but we will keep it going as long as possible. There has to be a way these records can be ordered reopened, right?

This is what I picked up from the printed story:
        :
“Truth is, no one will know the reason for the confiscation of public court records in this case because the judge’s decision to seal it was also sealed, according to the news story. That means the public or media won’t have access to any new or old evidence, filings, rulings or arguments”.

If Eric Holder had an ounce of integrity he would resign now! Instead he holds on to his power in the hope that he can survive this. Now who is the coward! I say they need to move to indict him. 52 members of congress asking him to resign apparently isn’t enough for him to take the hint.

No he has no integrity and neither does Obama or he would call for him to resign but instead they circle the wagons and try to protect each other.

Good point Lou. Holder’s apparent ‘amnesia’ over real events and his lies covering that amnesia are to be expected. Keep in mind he and his boss are from the same Manchurian test tube. Their inherent pathology allows them the fabricate lies that deflect from their real agenda….WM

I checked that link. This is still being portrayed as a “botched” operation. It wasn’t botched; it went exactly as planned. What got botched is they were caught.

Harrison, the whole lot of them need to go. Maybe some are not actually guilty of being involved with the planning and carrying it out, but they are guilty by condoning it and not speaking out against it. To me, that is just as bad or worse. I do not want an administration that the American people put in there to turn around and attack us. Something is wrong with this picture. Again, fill me in here, do We take orders from them or are we supposed to tell THEM what to do?
