Gunrunner: Darrell Issa threatens to hold Eric Holder in contempt of Congress
Darrell Issa has repeatedly asked for Eric Holder to release certain documents related to the deadly operation known as Fast and Furious, and while Eric Holder has released some of the documents, he has been stonewalling the release of most of them while ignoring Darrell Issa’s subpoena.
With Eric Holder set to testify under oath to the Oversight Committee in the near future Darrell Issa is understandably getting agitated and frustrated by what he feels is Eric Holder’s defiance, and he has now given Eric Holder until February 9th to comply with his request or risk being held in contempt of Congress.
Here is some of what Darrell Issa wrote in a letter to Eric Holder:
“this committee will have no alternative but to move forward with proceedings to hold you in contempt of Congress”
“Your actions lead us to conclude that the department is actively engaged in a cover-up,” he said in a four-page letter.
The “Justice” Department has slowly been releasing these documents in a series of Friday document dumps and with each release the evidence becomes more damning to Eric Holder; the “Justice” Department’s latest document dump shows us that Eric Holder actually learned about Brian Terry’s shooting on the day it happened, however it still leaves in doubt whether or not his aide informed him that the murder weapon was part of Operation Fast and Furious.
With every document release showing Darrell Issa’s investigation getting closer and closer to Eric Holder one can only be left to wonder if the documents he refuses to release actually implicate Eric Holder. Do these documents prove that Eric Holder’s aide did in fact inform him the murder weapon was part of Fast and Furious? If so, this would prove that Eric Holder perjured himself under oath. For what other reason could Eric Holder be so leery of releasing the documents? Surely if they exonerated him he already would have released them, yet he refuses to do so and he is giving the impression that he is hiding something.
This has forced Darrell Issa to threaten him with contempt and I can only hope that Darrell Issa does not back down until he has in his possession every document he has requested from Eric Holder.

Contempt of Congress?
Big deal. Unless Congress is willing to remove this slimeball from office, a contempt of congress citation is a waste of time. He will simply ignore it.
The Constitution is dead, and Congress’s spinelessness renders it irrelevant and powerless.
Let’s face it: our Dear Leader Obama is in charge.

I hope you are wrong, but sometimes I feel the same way.

Has this come up at all during the debates? If it has, I missed it.

It came up once in one of the debates, but it didn’t get much time and it isn’t surprising that you would have missed it.

Holder and his band of idiots could probably care less. Like I have previously stated this administration cares nothing for established protocol and rules which do not fit their agenda. Remember their end game is to neutralize and replace our constitutional republic with a failed ideological brain fart called socialism….WM

You are right, I don’t think Holder gives a damn about this threat and will not comply with it. It will be up to the Congress to do something about this and I don’t know if they will.

Call me a wild-eyed patriot–and I would count that as a compliment–but if the November elections don’t get us back on the road to constitutional order, we must remember specifically why the 2nd Amendment was included in our Constitution. Ultimately, We the People are duty bound to restore constitutional order, separation of powers and fiduciary responsibility. No one else will do it for us.
And if Holder ignores the contempt of congress citation, we must rise up and LOUDLY insist that Holder be physically removed from OUR Justice Dept. Nothing less should be tolerated.
This crap has been going on too long.

I agree, we cannot stand for this any longer. Eric Holder must be held accountable for his actions.

J – you are not wild eyed – but you are a patriot. I have a feeling that something bad is coming down the road. The Second Amendment gives us the tools, but the real question is do we have the nerve to do what may have to be done, or do we sit back and hope for the best. Tough question and even tougher choices….WM

I am afraid we will simply sit back and hope for the best, I just don’t think the American people are ready yet to do what is needed to get our country back on track.

And here we are flat-footed and tentative yet again. That said, I’m convinced there are enough of us to make a difference when and if the rubber hits the road. Frankly, as long as there are folks like us who are willing and able to do the right thing when it’s absolutely needed, it will be done–even if we are alone, which I honestly don’t believe will be the case. That’s why I’m encouraged with the plethora of conservative and patriot sites which connect like-minded Americans. We’re not alone and we will do the right thing when the time comes.

I like your enthusiasm and I hope you are right, if we band together we can take this country back!

Unity staying connected is what it’s all about. Minutemen used runners and smoke signals. While we have it, we use the internet. In case the internet is quashed–for “national security reasons” of course–we’d all best re-engage with our respective Tea Party chapters where like-minded folks are but arms length away.
