Gunrunner: Darrell Issa doesn’t bring Contempt charges against Eric Holder

February 11, 2012

At the end of January Darrell Issa sent Eric Holder a letter demanding him to comply with his subpoena and provide the Oversight Committee with the requested documents related to the deadly Operation Fast and Furious scandal by February 9th or face a Contempt of Congress charge.

Well, February 9th has come and gone and yet Eric Holder faces no Contempt of Congress charge because Darrell Issa has backed down an given Eric Holder yet more time to comply with the subpoena. As if a year weren’t enough time to comply in the first place.

So what is the new line in the sand date? Well, there is none. Darrell Issa has given Eric Holder no date to which he must comply before issuing Contempt of Congress charges,  and it appears as if he has dropped the possibility of charging Eric Holder for Contempt and Holder will be able to continue stonewalling the investigation for as long as he wishes.

This is very disappointing news to say the least and it now looks like the fix just might be in and the rumors about John Boehner’s deal with the “Justice” Department might be true. After all this time the Oversight Committee may be about to let Eric Holder off the hook by letting him place the blame on his underlings. At this point it seems as if Darrell Issa and John Boehner have as much respect for the sacrifice Brian Terry made, as well as the feelings of his family, as does Eric Holder.

The only other possibility I see for this decision is the possibility that Darrell Issa wants this investigation to drag into the general election so that it can be used as a campaign issue in the fall, but I find that to be highly unlikely.

I think it is time to admit, that the “powers that be” want Obama and his administration left alone. Every time something looks a bit promising that we will get to the bottom of what is going on, there is something or someone that stops it. I think it is safe to say, that this administration is untouchable and that is the end of the story. It would take something massive for the American people to wake up and take action at this point. I just don’t see that happening. I had high hopes that Rep. Issa was going to pull this one off and see that justice was served on who was guilty, but guess that will remain undone. I think that we have just had a glimpse of our future and it isn’t pretty. We have lost control of our government when this is allowed to happen.

In the end the Republicans and the Democrats, while they may differ politically, are not much different because they believe first and foremost in the government being used in ways which differ from the intent of the founders. They may have different ideologies but in the end they both belong to the cliche which is the federal government and none of the politicians can be trusted to do what is right.

I believe they’re playing a game here Steve. I think they want these scandals being talked about in an election year. This is why I believe they’re dragging their feet. This is about what’s right and wrong. It’s about an election year. It doesn’t help Obama if scandal after scandal is being talked about. I do believe they’re going to go after Holder, but it’s all about timing. Maybe in the summer when it’s closer to election we will see more movement on this front. I hope anyway.

Part of me still wants to believe that this is the truth John, and I am still holding out hope that it is, but I am growing more cynical as the days wear on. Perhaps I am just growing impatient at how long this has taken, and maybe I shouldn’t give up just yet.

Because voter fraud is SO effective in getting a dirty bird elected like obama, it is highly likely that obama will get the second term. So many early ballots go to one of the biggest unions in the US, the post office, we can’t have any confidence our elections aren’t being run by such as warren buffett. When I voted in 2008, the ballot was huge and two pages long with a ton of judges to be voted for but a tiny scratch spit my vote back out, they said it would eliminate that question where the scratch was but I still don’t know if my vote actually was accepted.

I will contribute and vote for the first GOP candidate who promises his first order of business to be to fire and prosecute Eric Holder.

So would I Jiri, but so far Fast and Furious is being ignored by our GOP contenders. It would seem that if one of them would step up and talk about this issue during the campaign that it would be a winner yet none of them have done so.

Wonder who put the breaks on Issa? Like I said in a previous comment, the fix is in. Obama, Holder, Sebelius, et al are above the law, which might call into question why should the
RHINOs should even bother with a primary?

Like I said, not only do I think the fix is in and I might also be willing to bet given all the passes on corruption that this administration has been given so far – the next election may already be bought and paid for. Cynical – yep, but it’s just my opinion of course….WM

I am right there with you, William if you read my post above. The fix is in, indeed!

The rumor is that John Boehner has struck a deal with the “Justice” Department and if this is true it could just be that it was Boehner who put the brakes on this.

I feel certain “somebody” got to the Georgia judge who did an about face on Obama’s eligibility trial. I also think that “somebody” got to Hillary in 2008. She was the first “birther” and she quickly dropped that line of attack. I could name others, but you get the idea.
