Solargate: Larry Summers was worried about Solyndra in 2010
Late Friday night–in what is quickly become a tradition–the White House dumped more documents related to the Solyndra scandal, and these documents show that Barack Obama’s top economic adviser, Larry Summers, had concerns about giving the now bankrupt green energy company a $500 million loan using taxpayer money. As a matter of fact so did Joe Biden’s top economic adviser, Jared Bernstein.
Yet Barack Obama ignored the concerns of his regime’s top economic advisors and gave into the will of top Solyndra investors who, in a remarkable coincidence, just happen to be top Democrat donors as well. Why even have an economic advisor in the first place if you are simply going to bend to the will of political donors?
Well, maybe he did listen to Larry Summers…..to an extent.
Maybe Barack Obama did find what Larry Summers had to say useful, and perhaps he did listen to what he was saying because before granting Solyndra the loan he rewrote the stimulus rules to protect Solyndra investors–read Democrat donors–ahead of the taxpayers who were footing the bill in the first place. So perhaps Larry Summers’s concerns were heeded by Barack Obama, he just didn’t give a damn if taxpayers ended up hurt. He prioritized the importance of those who stood to lose money and the taxpayers lost out.
Of course the White House is saying that these documents do not prove a link between the decision to give Solyndra the loan and crony capitalism:
Once again, none of these documents supports the committee’s allegations about favoritism to campaign contributors or improper White House involvement in the decision-making process
Of course they do not, they would not have been released if they had. The White House is not going to willingly hand over the documents which tie this all together but it is still becoming more and more obvious that Barack Obama either ignored the worries of many people in the upper echelons of his cabinet, or he only cared enough about the worries to protect his donors, because he had a “green energy initiative” to kick off and he needed a nice little backdrop for Joe Biden to make the announcement in front of and that is what he got. So what if it cost the taxpayers $500 million, at least his donors were protected and that is all he cared about.
Barack Obama has until Tuesday to comply with the subpoena of face contempt charges, for whatever that might be worth.

Please! Obama honor a subpoena? That would be a first. Impeachment and conviction is the only short-term solution to his myriad acts of lawlessness and blatant violations of the Constitution.

I am curious how the “fbi’s” Solyndra investigation is going?
Remember they swept in and took a ton of documents at the begining of all this.
I suspect they went in there to make these documents dissapear.
So it appears the FBI is involved in two major White House scandals, one involving murder and one involving theft.
So who do they work for?

I remember that also, and don’t forget the employees were caught breaking those tubes to get rid of them. It makes you wonder what the hell is going on.

Steve, do you think the folks on main street are paying any attention to the Solyndra and other stories of graft. I’m getting the feeling we bloggers are the only ones that care.

I would bet that if I walked down the street and asked people about this or about Fast and Furious that 8 out of 10 people would have no idea what I was talking about. The media simply isn’t covering these stories so people don’t know about them. But when Valerie Plame was in the news it was 24-7.

That is quite a statement since Summers has largely regarded as inept starting from his tenure as Sec. of The Treasury under Nixon to the apparent failures of his economic policies under the Obama administration.
However, if Summers was that cognizant of the potential danger in funding Solyndra then than what does that say about Obama’s competency? WM

Larry Summers is also the guy, before he worked for Obama, who said that longer unemployment benefits cause people to remain unemployed longer.

But how can that be, Pelosi said unemployment benefits stimulated the economy! 🙂
