Obamacare: 20 million people could lose their employer provided healthcare

March 17, 2012

I wrote this post a couple of days ago about the CBO’s revised numbers concerning Obamacare which estimated that upwards of 4 million people could lose their employer based healthcare coverage by 2016. Of course we remember that Barack Obama promised that anyone who liked their healthcare coverage would not be affected by the new law because they would be able to keep their insurance, well that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

But as bad as that number is, it gets even worse for those people who like their employer provided healthcare coverage, as can be seen in this article, because the number of people who could lose their healthcare coverage could be as high as 20 million in an extreme case scenario. Defenders of Obamacare are pointing out the fact that 20 million people is a small portion of the 160 million people who currently have employer provided healthcare coverage. I am sure it will make the people who lose their healthcare coverage feel much better knowing they are in the minority, and that most people weren’t affected by Barack Obama’s broken promise.

Whether the number is three or four million, or if it rises as high has twenty million it really doesn’t matter because that isn’t the point; the fact is Barack Obama made a promise to these people, and to all of us–a promise many of us knew was a lie–and he has broken his promise. And we should remember that these are only the estimated numbers until the year 2016, as the regulations build and as the prices necessarily skyrocket this number could grow exponentially in the coming years.

This may be bad news to the people who are losing their healthcare coverage, but it is good news for Barack Obama because this will likely push these people into government sponsored healthcare exchanges, and that has been the plan from the very beginning, but it is only phase one of the plan.

The goal of Obamacare has always been to drive the private insurers out of business by making it so expensive through excessive mandates that people couldn’t afford their own insurance, while employers would opt to pay a small fine rather than offer healthcare as a benefit; in the eyes of Barack Obama and the Democrats, this would drive up support for a single payer system and with this newly found support the leftists would finally get what they have wanted for so long.

Great find! There can be no arguing anymore that this wasn’t the plan from the beginning.

Obama doesn’t deserve all the blame for the coming HC catastrophe: We have the compliant media that would make Tass and Pravda blush, an elected congress which answers to the money changers in the Washington temples, we have our educated elite sycophants in Hollywood and the halls of academia, we have wall street holding its finger in the air, we have the welfare class dependent minority on it’s way to becoming a signifigant voting bloc, and we have an uninformed, illiterate, under educated and seemingly uncaring majority. The cruelest part of today’s state of national affairs is that in any poll, left-right-middle- half the people in this country feel that O is doing a good job. Nuff’ siad.

You are right Peter, Obama had his share of accomplices. There is plenty of blame to go around and the media should be right at the top of the list. If they were doing there job there would be no way Obama is anywhere near a 50% approval rating in any poll.

I do not think much of polls, they can be swayed very easily. The problem is MOST people do trust them.

Agreed lou, polls are a moveable feast but what is so damn disturbing is that this anti-American has any approval beyond his posse. But to date, after all he has done and continues to do on his quest to overthrow our government and our institutions, those stalwart republicans can’t lay a glove on him.

The Obamites seem very confident that SCOTUS will rule in their favor. If they do, the United States will join Europe on the road to disaster.

They are confident and that has me worried. I read somewhere that the defense team is shifting its argument before it heads to SCOTUS because they think they have found an argument which will win over at least one conservative justice. I hope this is wrong because I don’t think it will ever be repealed, this is our one chance to stop this law.

Be it Obama-care, the economy or just about anything in general, Barack Obama has proven himself one of the best liars ever to ascend to the presidency. With that said I invite you to decide if either one or both of the following two traits are apt descriptions of Barack Obama’s personality.

    A Sociopath

A sociopath is typically defined as someone who lies incessantly to get their way and does so with little concern for others. A sociopath is often goal-oriented (i.e., lying is focused – it is done to get one’s way). Sociopaths have little regard or respect for the rights and feelings of others. Sociopaths are often charming and charismatic, but they use their talented social skills in manipulative and self-centered ways.

    Compulsive Liar

A compulsive liar is defined as someone who lies out of habit. Lying is their normal and reflexive way of responding to questions. Compulsive liars bend the truth about everything, large and small. For a compulsive liar, telling the truth is very awkward and uncomfortable while lying feels right. Compulsive lying is usually thought to develop in early childhood, due to being placed in an environment where lying was necessary.

    You decide….WM

I would say Obama is a sociopathic liar. Both descriptions seem to describe him perfectly.

I sure would like to have health insurance that is affordable My insurance and the companies I have worked for cannot afford it any more Every six months now companies negotiate for less expensive coverage and we keep getting less for it. Companies are forced to lay off or hire temps because of it. Small businesses are especially hurt by this. So if you like your health-care keep it but why should others have nothing. People complain about people abusing emergency facilities, well this will help and it will be less expensive in the long run. We need more health clinics for minor ailments and blood tests Why are people not on board with this. What would you have people do that have no health insurance?, and remember your Christian

The fact that companies are being forced to change healthcare coverage, and with the added mandates under Obamacare this will only increase the costs, is proof that Obama was lying when he said you could keep your healthcare if you liked it.
Obamacare did nothing to address the costs of healthcare insurance, so premiums will continue to rise and people will continue to be hurt in spite of Obamacare. And don’t forget that Obama cut Medicare by $500 billion.

BITB: You are willing to entrust that very entity that began the debilitation, back in 1965, of what was the best health care system in the world, but was then morphed into a component of LBJ’s Great Society. Here’s a frivolous microcosm of what the impenetrable bureaucracy with its inefficiencies, fraud, boundless rules and regulations has wrought upon the country and its citizens:
Back in the 50’s and 60’s one enters the doctor’s office waiting room and finds all the chairs occupied by little old ladies and a few old men waiting for their B-12 shot, probably nothing more than a plecebo, but that $10 office visit replete with the shot did wonders; come back next month.
Today, those senior citizens, feeling fatigued go to their primary phsician for the perfuctory $150 visit (paid for by the gov’t= us), gets a referral for unending batteries of tests, and possibly a hospital stay and a handful of prescribed drugs at a cost of thousands of dollars.
If there is a better way, a right way, the government is the last place any sane person would look to for answers. We need competition, deregulation and a government that knows enough to get the hell out of the way.

I don’t understand how anyone can think that allowing the government to intrude into healthcare will do anything other than make it worse than it already is.
