House Democrats use Trayvon Martin’s death to push gun control legislation

April 1, 2012

Who didn’t see this coming? House Democrats are using the killing of Trayvon Martin as a conduit to push more gun control laws on law abiding American citizens. The Congressional Black Caucus is planning on introducing a resolution which would override and repeal “stand your ground” laws in states which currently have this legislation on the books.

Never let a good crisis go to waste is what Rahm Emanuel once said, even if that crisis had to be manufactured, because the end justifies the means. The Obama regime had intended to create a crisis at the Mexican border by selling weapons to drug lords as part of Operation Fast and Furious, but that failed when Brian Terry was murdered so the regime had to sit and wait until an opportunity arose which could be exploited for their anti-second amendment agenda, and now they feel as if they have found it in Trayvon Martin–hence all the national media attention being paid to a local story. This, of course, will be legislation of a much smaller scope than they had hoped when the regime was selling weapons to the enemy, and it comes in the form of a non-binding resolution, but it is a welcome start for the gun grabbers and this is only the beginning.

This legislation is being introduced at a time when we still don’t know the details of what happened that night; it could very well be the case that Florida’s stand your ground law saved the life of George Zimmerman when he faced an aggressive attacker, or it could be a fact that George Zimmerman acted irresponsibly and killed an innocent man that night.

We simply do not know, but even if the latter is the case this still seems to be an overreach and overreaction by the House Democrats. Are we to punish the law abiding citizens of every state for the actions of one man in one state however tragic this story is?

If we did away with rights every time someone abused a right, we wouldn’t have any rights.

I posted about this a week or so ago (http://billyd65.wordpress.com/2012/03/25/stand-your-ground/) and no matter the outcome, the only losers here will be the American people as they see another right taken away.

This isn’t about just your 2nd Amendment protections, this is about a government that needs to be taken down a notch or two.

WE THE PEOPLE are the three most important words to the Constitution of the United States.

So true Sarge, the government is becoming too powerful for its own good and we need to stop the growth of the government before it swallows us up.

At this time in our nations history we must be vigilant to make sure our 2nd amendment gun rights are protected.

There is no doubt in my mind that if Obama wins reelection he will make a big move on gun control.

George, we knew “something” was coming. Sad that it had to involve death, but I put nothing past this administration, do you?

I certainly don’t put anything past them, including creating a crisis from this tragic even in order to use it for political gain.

It will soon be that you will have to wait until you are shot to be able to return fire. That is how they want it. Of course, they must have our guns, the one thing standing in their way for a final takeover.

And even then they will say returning fire was unjustified because they will not be happy until they overturn the Heller decision which stated that the second amendment is an individual right.

B, how many people do you know that will willingly give up their guns? There is the “problem” that this administration faces.

You’ve got that right, if he ever attempted this it would get real ugly quickly. Perhaps that is what he wants.

This situation fell into their laps. With the MSM making it up as they go along, and all the usual suspects creating hysteria, they get a chance to take the shot that Fast and Furious should have given them-until it was exposed.

The MSM and the race baiters thought they had the perfect scenario until they learned a man named Goerge Zimmerman wasn’t the white man they thought he was. It is interesting to note that is was the liberals who just assumed he was white based on his name and didn’t bother to check into it becuaue they thought they had the perfect crisis.
It doesn’t seem to matter to them that this is based on a false premise though as they move forward with gun control legislation, and why should it? After all, Fast and Furious was conceived to create a false premise in order to implement gun control. They don’t care how they get there as long as they get there because, as well all know, the end justifies the means.
