MSNBC claims Mitt Romney’s use of the term ‘kitchen cabinet’ might have been racially motivated

July 12, 2012

Earlier today on MSNBC a guest made the claim that when Mitt Romney spoke in front of the NAACP he used a racially insensitive term when he spoke about a black man being in his ‘kitchen cabinet.’ Here is what Mark Thompson had to say:

This might have been a small thing, but it’s important for people to  understand,” Thompson said. “You cannot be culturally ignorant. He singled out  one African-American who came with the 20 in his entourage as an  African-American that was in his kitchen cabinet in Massachusetts, and he  promised that he would remain in his kitchen cabinet if he was in the White  House.”

According to Thompson, mentioning African-Americans and kitchens at the same  time is a bad idea.

“To talk about being in the kitchen and not talk about an African-American  actually being in your cabinet is really not a good metaphor to use with  African-Americans

The term ‘kitchen cabinet’ was a term used during Andrew Jackson’s presidency to describe a group of people who were advising the president outside of his official cabinet. It seems to me that Mark Thompson is trying to make the claim that Mitt Romney didn’t want a black man on his official cabinet advising him in public so he consulted with him in private instead.

But doesn’t this suggest that the black advisor Mitt Romney was talking about might have been a close, personal adviser to the presidential hopeful whose opinion he valued deeply and trusted, and was not someone whom Mitt Romney was trying to hide in a backroom as Mark Thompson seems to be suggesting?

The bottom line here is that the left is trying to find racism where it doesn’t exist and all this does is numb people to the race card to the point where when a case where true racism exists the people don’t take the charges seriously because they have heard the charges so lightly thrown around in recent years that their first reaction is “here we go again.”

The left and the mainstream media are getting desperate and they are trying very hard to delegitimize Mitt Romney’s candidacy because they feel this election slipping away from them, but by making such stretches all they are really doing is making themselves less and less relevant.

That guy can’t be serious. You are right. It is desperation talking and it will only get worse as the elections draw closer.

I think he was serious, but it was one hell of a stretch and this is only the beginning.

I suppose the terms “black balling and black Friday” are racist, but then Black Beauty is just fine. Wonder about “Black Caucus” and “National Association for the Advancement of COLORED PEOPLE”! We all knew the race card would be used in this election so is this really any surprise! Nancy Pelosi took her shot too!

Really? This stuff is getting more than a little ridiculous. What are they going to accuse him of next?

How about putting Mark Thompson in the MSNBC water closet since he’s full of shit. If this clod digs a bit deeper he will find that Reagen referred to his white boy advisors as his kitchen cabinet and declare him racist for not having a black negro African american in the bunch. How about a million man march on MSNBC et al and kick their skinny liberal white asses for years of reducing the black man to nothing more than an excuse to forward their socialist agenda while destroying the black family and bastardizing black culture through dependency on the government.
