Dianne Feinstein says the national security leaks are coming from the White House

July 24, 2012

Up until this point only Republicans have been willing to go on record as stating they believe the recent national security leaks are coming from the White House, enabling Barack Obama to claim that the Republicans are trying to politicize the issue. But that all changed today when Dianne Feinstein, who just happens to be the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, made the same claim.

I think the White House has to understand that some of this is coming from their ranks

She went on to say that she didn’t believe Barack Obama was involved in the leaks, but this still contradicts what Barack Obama said when asked if the leaks were coming from the White House:

The notion that my White House would purposely release classified national security information is offensive. It’s wrong.

But is it wrong? All of the leaks just happen to portray Barack Obama in a very positive light and it also just happens to be an election year, isn’t that interesting? Barack Obama might not have had anything to do with the leaks–even if he did he isn’t stupid enough to leave any type of trail, it would be a wink and a nod type of deal–but someone close to him is involved and it is time to find out who is putting politics ahead of national security in an apparent attempt to help Barack Obama’s reelection campaign. Barack Obama can claim all he wants that it is the Republicans who are turning this into a political issue, but it seems highly likely the leaks were part of a political plot in the first place and today Mitt Romney came out swinging:

This isn’t a partisan issue; it’s a national security crisis,” Romney said. “And yesterday, Democrat Senator Dianne Feinstein, Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said, quote, ‘I think the White House has to understand that some of this is coming from their ranks.’ This conduct is contemptible,” Romney continued. “It betrays our national interest. It compromises our men and women in the field. And it demands a full and prompt investigation, with explanation and consequence. Whoever provided classified information to the media, seeking political advantage for the administration, must be exposed, dismissed, and punished. The time for stonewalling is over

Mitt Romney is right on the money, it is time to get to the bottom of this scandal. We need to know who it is within the White House who cannot be trusted with national security secrets and we need to prosecute that person to the full extent of the law. Eric Holder and the Department of Injustice appointed two special prosecutors to investigate this scandal, one of whom just happens to be a donor of Barack Obama’s, and the prosecutors were not given independent status which means the Injustice Department can review the findings before they are made public, so one has to call into question just how impartial this investigation is truly going to be. It would seem that the fix is already in.

I agree with you, of course. Still, there’s a nagging question that continues to ricochet around somewhere in the back of my mind. Though the leaks which impact national security must be tracked down, I fear that the whistleblowers are the real target here, … or will be. The recent threat (quote below) by the head of the ATF worries me:

“Choices and consequences means simply that if you make poor choices, that if you don’t abide by the rules, that if you don’t respect the chain of command, if you don’t find the appropriate way to raise your concerns to your leadership, there will be consequences.”

Again, if by chance …. these leaks have been authorized by the president, to make him look good, the public needs to know, but whether Feinstein, will let that be known is also questionable. I question her integrity as much as the president’s!

I had that quote in a previous post as well and it is something to be worried about. The Obama regime will clamp down on anyone who tries to out them because the end justifies the means, and anyone who opposes the president is the true enemy according to this regime. Feinstein has already started to back down from her comments, somebody got to her.

There isn’t a chance the Obama administration “really” wants to investigate these leaks. They may give it lip service, but it will go no further. They’ll not run the risk of making the President look bad.

You’ve got that right Larry, the Department of Injustice is supposedly investigating Fast and Furious and we have seen no results. This will be more of the same; put on a front and make it appear as if you are doing something while letting it slip from the public eye.

Romney is starting to pick up some steam. Let Obama keep on giving.

Romney finally appears ready to go after Obama hard and I think it has quite a bit to do with the regime calling him a felon. I think they insulted him and this woke him up to the realization that playing nice is a losing proposition.

Obama would have maintained deniability but you can bet Axlerod is knee deep in these leaks. Sadly, Team Obama must have gotten to Feinstein because she is now walking back her words.

I wouldn’t be surprised if this comes from Axlerod, I always thought his leaving the regime because his drean job was to be a mayor was a little fishy. Perhaps he just wanted to distance himself from Obama so he could attack from “outside.”

I see that Dianne Feinstein is walking back her statement a little—-suspect she got “Bookered”! But then that’s the Chicago way!

I’m sure the WH and State are so infested with America-hating Leftists there will be no desire to dig deeper.

An important first step would be to get Bachmann to back off. Also… what motive does Diane have to open her mouth?

I am sure after a lengthy and thorough investigation they will determine there is nothing to see here. 🙂
I am not sure what Feinstein’s motive is, but she did back down a bit so perhaps she just made the mistake of saying what she actually felt for once.

Diane-I never met a gov’t contract my husband and i could turn down-Feinstinker’s soon to be wholesale retraction of her at best tepid finger pointing at the WH is as predictable as Mayor Bloomberg granting a vaiver to Michelle Obama so that she will be able to buy 32 ounce sugary soft drinks while on her next publicly funded foray into New York City. Feinstein’s knowing that the floppy eared one will serve another term is the driving force behind anything she says or does these next few months. Fast and Furious, Slow and Wimpy, what’s the difference, nothin’s goin’ nowhere.

Feinstein does have her own ethics problems so she is one to talk. Makes you wonder what the reason was for it, maybe she forgot Bush wasn’t president.

Surely, this is no surprise to anybody. The Obama Regime will do anything to try and cling to power. He stages a Hoax about Bin Laden’s death and then invades Libya with no constitutional aurthority to do so, so why would this surprese anybody, including Feinstein and Romney??

Not surprising at all, the only surprising thing was the fact that a Democrat actually admitted what we all already knew.
