Emails show Timothy Geithner cutoff the pensions of non-union Delphi workers as part of the auto bailout

August 7, 2012

You may or may not remember this, but when the Obama regime bailed out the automakers industry 20,000 non-union retirees lost their rightfully earned pensions while all retired union members  were allowed to keep what they rightfully earned during the course of their careers.

This, of course, is in direct contrast to what Barack Obama stated when he was running for the office he currently holds. During the 2008 campaign Barack Obama said not protecting a person’s pension was “not the America I believe in” and promised to protect the workers’ interests ahead of the interests of the bankers:

Right now, bankruptcy laws are more focused on protecting banks than protecting  pensions,” Obama said then. “And, I don’t think that’s fair. It’s not the  America I believe in. It’s time to stop cutting back the safety net for working  people while we protect golden parachutes for the well-off. If you’ve worked  hard and played by the rules, then you’ve earned your pension. If a company goes  bankrupt, then workers need to be our top priority, not an afterthought

Apparently, although he didn’t say so, he was only talking about unionized workers and not all workers because the Obama regime made sure the Democrats’ largest special interest group was taken care of while the non-union workers lost what they earned and he did nothing to stop it. So much for earning your pension if you are not a member of Barack Obama’s prefered class of people.

But Barack Obama’s problem goes much deeper than yet another broken promise because several members of the Obama regime swore under oath that the regime had nothing to do with the decision to screw over the non-union employees, but newly released emails show this is simply not the case, and none other than tax cheat Timothy Geithner was directly involved:

Emails obtained by The Daily Caller show that the U.S. Treasury Department, led  by Timothy Geithner, was the driving force behind terminating the pensions of  20,000 salaried retirees at the Delphi auto parts manufacturing company

The internal government emails contradict sworn testimony, in federal court and  before Congress, given by several Obama administration figures. They also  indicate that the administration misled lawmakers and the courts about the  sequence of events surrounding the termination of those non-union pensions, and  that administration figures violated federal law.

Barack Obama and Timothy Geithner have tried to deflect the blame by claiming the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation was responsible for cutting the pensions of non-union employees but according to the above linked article the Obama regime was directly involved in this decision and some of them have lied under oath about it.

I have not seen the emails in question but that does not matter because, to paraphrase Harry Reid, the allegation is now out there and the burden of proof does not fall on the person making the allegation to prove the claim, the burden should fall on the person who is alleged of the crime and in this case that person is Timothy Geithner. If he does not prove his innocence it must be proof he is guilty.

This is despicable and one more example of how Barack Obama is just another politician that said anything he had to say, in order to win the election. This does not surprise me, but I do wonder how Obama can even be holding his own in the polls. With so much damming evidence of his political games, at the expense of the American people, he really shouldn’t stand a chance against Mitt Romney.

I don’t believe the polls any more Larry. The last three major once that came out were all rigged by sampling a much larger percentage of Democrats than Republicans. This is being done to get Democrats excited about heading to the polls while at the same time bring morale down on the right in an attempt to get people to feel all is lost and stay home.

Larry, we know that most people running for office make promises they know can’t be kept, but that is part of the game. The damning evidence you are speaking of, seems to not have much effect on him, does it?

It really does make you grow tired of the game and pessimistic about the future, doesn’t it!

Jim, that is true until he no longer needs those “friends”, then he does away with them as well. I am not sure he HAS any true friends, maybe Valerie Jarrett, but that is questionable, as well. She is one of those necessary evils that has to be there, I bet we don’t know the half of what is going on behind closed doors in OUR HOUSE.

Obama has shown that when he has no use for you he will throw you to the curb, just ask his grandmother.

Geitiner’s very existence is dependent upon the Obama’s largesse and the administration over looking his tax dodging – the perfect example of a toady blackmailed, in this case willingly, into regurgitating the socialist party line. It will be interesting to see if those who lost their pensions are cognizant enough to to vote against Obama in November – but then his election was a strange event in itself and those who voted for him stranger still

It is amazing that Geithner even made it through the confirmation hearing considering his tax didging past, now we have him leading the charge on stealing peoples pensions simply because they aren’t members of a group that overwhelmingly votes for Democrats. This might just be the most corrupt administration in history.

I’m one of those that has had my pension stolen after waitressing in the 1970’s at 1.77 an hour. However, my pension was a whopping 43.00 a month at retirement and my exhusband would have received 16.00. Many others had a whole lot more than I did.

MT, you must be up there with some of us just getting into retirement and then Medicare….I really don’t look for SS in my 60’s, I doubt it will be there the way they are going. Most of our savings we put away along with IRA, investments, etc…was wiped out like most people, so where do we stand? We were frugal over the years so we would HAVE a good retirement, but they are making sure none of us will, however we certainly can pay all the entitlements and welfare for those that won’t work. There are alot of baby boomers that are not very happy these days, this is not what we expected. Now we work longer and put more away, again.

You may not have had a large sum stolen from you but the fact is that you still lost what was rightfully yours and there is no excuse for that!

I got tired of being angry and sought other resources which by the GRACE of GOD I was given. THANK YOU for your comments, I agree they were stolen but back then the tips were good until the government starting taxing every damn ticket we wrote and were taxed for “casual labor employees”.
