Open thread for Tuesday August 14th: Uprising edition

August 14, 2012

Yesterday’s open thread maiden voyage seemed to be pretty successful, so I have decided to keep posting open threads in the morning as long as people are interested.

I have decided to give this one a theme; this is the Uprising edition of the new open thread series and I have included a video of what I think should be our anthem heading into the November election in order to get you pumped up and ready as we head into the battle ahead of us.

I give you Muse performing Uprising live at the Roskilde Festival in 2010. (And for all you New World Order conspiracy buffs, note the 1:52 mark in the video.)

Bring on the links and the discussion!

    http://www.wnd.com/2012/08/rush-economy-to-rocket-with-ryan-win/
This was an article I ran across this morning, it is a short good read about Ryan. The one word in it that jumped out at me was “fundamentally” used by Obama in his disagreement with Ryan. We have heard that before when he was going to fundamentally change things if he wins. He did and he has, so he is back to showing his real side. I thought they might have more control over him at this stage in the election, but he is starting to get bitter and nasty and show that Chicago side that is not pretty.

I think Rush’s analysis in that article is spot on; Ryan is a man of substance and I think this move has jazzed up more than just Limbaugh, I think it has fired up the people who were not enthusiastic about voting for Romney before he chose Ryan.

It warmed the cockles of my heart to see obama look shook up when Ryan came in the picture!!! Tis a fight obama wants it’s a fight we’ll give him, I’m sick and tired of scandal after scandal with the PEOPLE”S money. The bad guys are robbing us blind in overtaxation and underrepresentation. GO GET EM PAUL RYAN!!!

MTB, he has that “Presidential, arrogant” attitude and then he has the “Chicago thug” attitude…that is the one that is coming out. I wonder if his handlers will be able to control his snippy comments and the hateful looks he is prone to giving lately? I know that Ryan has been what he last expected. I think that he had enough people bluffed that this was going to be a piece of cake of an election. Ryan has changed that, hasn’t he? Looking forward to an explosion on camera by Obama and how the media will try and spin it and IF the Republicans will use it to their advantage. This is not going to be a civil election and I hope that they have some cut throat strategists waiting in line, because that is what it will take to get Obama out of office.

And the more desperate he becomes the more he looks like a thug and a bully and I think that will hurt him come November.

There is no doubt in my mind that secretly the Democrats are worried, they never expected Romney to make a bold choice and he has. This was something they didn’t plan for, although they will have plenty to use to fire up their base with this choice.

I think Paul Ryan has Obama’s number. Every time they have tangled, Ryan has came out on top. Well, there was the one time when Obama invited Ryan to attend a speech and then blasted him from the podium. Ryan was trapped and couldn’t defend himself. Other than that, it has been all Paul Ryan.

This is because Ryan has substance where Obama is only rhetoric and in the end a person like Ryan will almost always win. This is going to get interesting as Ryan frustrates the Obama campaign.

Larry, I think it is a matter of intellect, Ryan has it and Obama is told he has it, there is a big difference there.

With the exception of my son’s band of course (which I will be selfishly promoting shortly in one of these posts) Muse is my favorite current band. I will be using them in tomorrow’s post as well with a song influenced by the book 1984. A totally different sounding song than this one.

At least they are not having to bus people in or only film from a certain angle to not show empty seats. They have the drawing power now. As much as Romney was not my first choice, we know what the outcome would be if we got Obama back in,,,he would be more “flexible” with his decision making and that is NOT what I want for a President.

Grammasheila, at that point, if he gets re-elected, we will not have much say in whether he is flexible or not. I doubt there will be much of the Constitution left that will be adhered to. And still there will be those that are oblivious to what is happening.

Contrasting the turnout between the different campaigns show us that at this point in time people are getting excited about the Republicans and the same can not be said for the Democrats, we have to keep this up because there is still plenty of time to go before the election.

Steve, I really enjoyed reading theough the comments in the openthread yesterday. I wish I had to time to participate more fully. Sadly, I do not.
I have a question that maybe your readers can shed some light on.. What is wrong with Fox News? Last Friday they released a poll showing Obama ahead by nine points. That is crazy! Rasmussen released a poll the same day that had Romney ahead by four points. Rasmusen only polls likely voters, I have no idea what Fox is doing.

That suprised me as well, Jim. I don’t have the answer to that question. It seemed “off” to me, but I am not a certified pollster, I guess. I bet the left is having a hay day with that, seeing that they think FOX is far right leaning. Glad to hear you like the open thread and I always enjoy your input, whatever time you have.

Funny how when you are behind in the votes, you can find ballots in trunks, in basements and how about those felons voting and not being thrown out! They look until there is a sufficient amount over what is needed and then they call the race, the bad thing is that it is accepted. Norm Coleman did not put up enough of a fight, so he must not have wanted to win badly enough. Al Franken ( I can’t hardly even type his name without seeing him in a diaper) has NO business in the capacity of being called a Senator or Representative for our Congress.

GP, as much as people try and make Alex Jones out to be a wackjob, he does get alot of info out there that otherwise would be covered over by our dear Media. As for why the weather service needs ammo, I am sure they have alot of expensive equipment that is used out in the field and most agencies have some form of security. However, this seems over the top and we are getting suspicious because of all the ammo, gear, etc., that DHS is stocking up on. Almost makes you wonder how afraid they (this administration) are of the American People and is it justified? I am sure they are doing a CYA for when the nation as a whole has had their fill of being told what to do. But, I could be wrong.

        From: http://www.Infowars.com
UPDATE: The Washington Post now reports, via a statement from NOAA spokesman Scott Smullen, that the original solicitation contained a “clerical error” and that the “solicitation for ammunition and targets for the NOAA Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement mistakenly identified NOAA’s National Weather Service as the requesting office.” This still doesn’t explain why hollow point bullets, designed to cause maximum organ damage, are needed for shooting at paper targets. Was the delivery of the bullets to the NWS a cover for them being transferred somewhere else? It’s entirely possible given the sordid history of Fast and Furious, a federal government program under which guns were sent directly to Mexican drug cartels.

I just read an article in freebeacon.com called silent running regarding a russian nuclear-powered attack submarine armed with long range cruise missiles operated undetected in the Gulf of Mexico for several weeks. The writer is Bill Gertz who has another website called gertzfile.com. The submarine could have even been laying bombs in the month it’s been operating there.

This may not be the right place for this, but I thought I would give it a try. I am thinking of doing a post to debunk the idea that Romney would be just as bad for America as Obama. Part of my premise would be the idea that although fiscal issues are extremely important, there are other things to consider. Romney may not be as fiscally conservative as we would like to see, but he has a completely different kind of attitude towards America than Obama. I believe that counts for a great deal.

This is the perfect place for this Larry. I am one of those who had been of the opinion that there wasn’t enough of a difference between Romney and Obama to get me to vote for Romney but now I realize that is just not true for the reason you mentioned. I look forward to reading your post on this issue.

Your right LD Jackson, voting for Romney/Ryan is a no brainer, excellent article! During the oil spill, obama was given a blank check for that disaster which was never mentioned again and the oil company paid out millions after that. Since that nuclear sub was operating in that area recently couldn’t the submarine disable any oil company plants If they wanted too?
