Open thread for Wednesday August 29: Republican women edition
August 29, 2012
Here is the open thread for Wednesday August 29th, feel free to post links to interesting articles and to discuss whatever might be on your mind today.
You might have heard that last night was the first night of speeches at the Republican convention, I would love to hear your thoughts on how you feel each speaker did last night. With the Democrats claiming that the Republicans are waging a war on women I thought it would be appropriate to include the videos of two Republican women from the convention last night. I give you Mia Love and Ann Romney.
Enjoy and have a great day!

I watch all the speeches as well as keeping an eye on Isaac, as I live in southern Mississippi. Thought all the ladies were great. The only time I was upset was during the FOX commentary after Ann Romney’s speech and the uncalled for comments of Juan Williams. You can see them here along with my brief comment on Juan!

I heard about what he said, he used to have my respect but recently he hasn’t been as reasonable as he used to be. I think he knows Obama is in trouble and it is getting to him.

Side note: I thought Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin did okay in her speech, but it seemed to be a little stiff. I think maybe she tried to hard.
I thought both women did great, but especially Ann Romney. She really laid it out plain about their success and how there was no reason they should be ashamed of it. I liked that. The Romney campaign needs to make sure she is showcased more. I would even go so far as to see the differences there is between Ann Romney and our current First Lady. There really is no comparison.

I didn’t see Fallin’s speech, I will have to look it up. I thought Ann Romney and Mia Love were great. As was Nikki Haley.

I watched what I could, Mia Love did a good job, I would like to have heard a bit more from her, but I know they are limited. As for Ann Romney, she is a very classy lady and it came across what sincerity and love she has not only for her husband and family, but the country. She talked about the positives and not the negatives as our present first lady does. She did not talk down to us, but as equals. I know that Mitt Romney will have to do a better job in our house than what is presently in there. I also know that Ann Romney will not say something to the fact that for the first time she is proud of her country, only when and if her husband gets elected. I want a first lady that will show respect and be honored to be able to live in our house, not run around in shorts and tank tops and tennis shoes. She must have read Miss Manners book of Etiquette growing up, I am sure that is what is lacking with the present occupant. I guess it boils down to upbringing, not the amount of money you have or had, but how you were raised and what was expected of you growing up and that you were held accountable for you actions. We have 2 totally different couples here, let’s hope the stronger of the two will win out for the benefit of our country.

Ann is such a different woman than Michelle and much classier. I have seen her and Mitt together on a couple of interviews and you can just see the love they have for each other. When they are interviewed together she brings out a side of Romney we don’t usually see.

I thought Mia Love did very well. The part of Ann Romney’s speech designed to show that Republicans in general and Mitt in particular are not anti-women did not impress me. Maybe that part played better for women. I am looking forward to hearing the opinion of women on her speech. The part of Mrs. Romney’s speech that was about her husband; what kind of a person he is and what kind of a President he will be was really ggod! Nitt can be proud of his wife’s efforts kadt night.

Jim, read my post above yours, it is an opinion of a “woman”!

I think she had to say something to contradict the Democrats meme of the Republican war on women and I think she did a good job at it without lingering on it to long.

I think about the Republican women, Romney, Love, Nikki Haley, Kelly Ayotte, Susana Martinez from NM, Mary Fallin and the others, then I start to think about who the Dems will be trotting out. Good grief, is there even a comparison?

No there isn’t any comparison, I think there is a stark difference here and I think it will be clear to all of America after these two conventions are over.

What was done to Mia’s Wikipedia page and said about her on Twitter was horrible. I believe it was Leftists:

Harrison, they are in panic mode now. We will be seeing them do and say anything they think might remotely make an impact. Let’s hope that the American people have had enough and start fighting back.

Check out my post on what Toure and Mathews said today, there is no doubt they are in panic mode and are falling apart.

People do stupid things when they are in a hurry, I think we are going to see alot of stupid stuff. Have I mentioned before that I don’t like stupid people?

It is going to be fun watching them implode over the next couple of months! Not sure if you mentioned whether or not you don’t like stupid people, but I am right there with you on that one.

Just wanted to keep you all updated on that city that is “gun free” here in beautiful Illinois. Still not a peep out of Obama on why this is happening, or what he will do about it. I mean, don’t you think if it was YOUR home town you would be a little bit interested? Does this man (using the word lightly, again) have any feelings? I wonder.

But I don’t understand, I though taking guns away from law abiding citizens would make us all safer…..
