The House to investigate the possibility that stimulus money was funneled to MSNBC to propagandize Barack Obama’s green energy policies

August 31, 2012

As I first wrote about here last week, the Obama regime took $500,000 in taxpayer stimulus money to hire a public relations firm called McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations LLC. This firm then turned around and gave the money to MSNBC to run propaganda ads on Rachel Maddow’s and Keith Olbermann’s shows promoting Barack Obama green energy policies.

In the most recent development on this story the House Committee on Education and the Workforce is opening up an investigation into this potential scandal and have requested all documents related to the story:

John Kline of Minnesota, chairman of the committee, and Phil Roe of Tennessee, who chairs the panel’s subcommittee on health, employment, labor and pension issues, seeks all documents and communications concerning the public relations contract, as well as a list of dates, attendees and topics for any meetings between Labor officials and the public relations firm concerning the “public relations strategy.”

“We understand this contract used taxpayer dollars purchase advertisements on MSNBC during ‘Countdown with Keith Olbermann’ and ‘The Rachel Maddow Show,’” the lawmakers wrote.

Despite the fact that these funds were made available as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act — legislation President Obama said was critical for immediate job creation — an examination of public records show that the contract that resulted in the advertisements on MSNBC created no jobs.

The Obama regime holds the position that there is nothing political about using taxpayer money to promote a political agenda whatsoever and claim to be innocent of the charges. Fast and Furious has provided us with a glimpse into how this will end; if this investigation gets anywhere near finding any wrongdoing on behalf of the Obama regime Barack Obama will seal the documents using Executive Privilege and the investigation will be for all intents and purposes over.

But this all seems too coincidental to me:

MSNBC’s ratings are basically non-existent and it makes one wonder how the propaganda arm of the Obama regime is still able to stay on the air and now we may have the answer; the Obama regime may have been, in effect, stealthily subsidizing the network in return for promotion of its green agenda. This may give us quite an insight into the reason why the anchors on this network have been going out of their way to protect Barack Obama and why they are so willing to make up stories of racist “dog-whistle” terms they claim the Republicans are using to bring down Barack Obama.

They might just owe the fact that they still have jobs to the possibility that Barack Obama was keeping the network afloat by funneling taxpayer money to MSNBC. I guess we can add these jobs to the jobs saved list…..

Why would our Obama government need to promote their programs? Who were they competing against? The government has no competetion. As numbed as we are to the atrocities of this administration, it would still peobebly shock us to know how much of our money they have wasted for no good reason.

You know that’s a good point Jim. It is more like they were trying to indoctrinate us into believing his plan was a good idea when clearly it was not.

Thanks for the reblog, first we must get him out of office and then maybe we can start looking at criminality!

I applaud these Congressmen for investigating the issue, but I seriously doubt anything will come of it. Your mention of the Fast and Furious investigation says it all.

Sadly Larry I think you are right, but maybe this will at least draw public attention to it before the election.

As the saying goes… A hand job is better than no job. If and when this corrupt bastard goes down what happens to his taxpayer subsidized network and its buffoons posing as journalists?

MSNBC will fold like a house of cards without the government to prop it up by purchasing ad time.

I think it was a little payback for a job well done of carrying the regime’s water.

$500k? Are you serious? The committee probably spent more than that copying all the documents involved. It’s one-sixth of a cent for every American, assuming 300 million of us.

Steve, governments routinely hire PR firms to spread whatever message they thing isn’t being properly spread. And PR firms often create advertisements to get the job done.

For example, here in Georgia, there are strict new requirements to get a driver’s license, including your original birth certificate. Lines are literally backed up for 4 hours and more at most Dept of Driver Services outlets, because when the law went into effect, the only people who knew about it were the clerks at DDS.

So DDS hired someone to create advertisements informing the public about the new requirements so at least they’d know what documentation is required now.

As to whether they sometimes spread a political message, that might be in the eye of the beholder. When the government does something (which is rare enough), it’s assumed the action is taken because the government has reached the conclusion that it’s a good thing. There’s nothing wrong. IMO, with sharing with the public its reasons for doing that thing, whatever it is.

Take good care, and may God bless us all, and may God bless all workers everywhere – they built it!

    TGY

Did the DDS use Stimulus Funds to spread the word? If they did I have issue with that. How many jobs were created with that $500k?

People were piessd that Bush didn’t go to Katrina right away. Now you’re piessd Obama WANTS to visit. GET REAL.Damned if he does damned if he doesn’t.What you’re clearly actually upset about is his choice for oil exploration but considering he is a man of the people and that is what they voiced their support for in the polls can you really hate on the guy for that?
