Video: Newt Gingrich hammers the mainstream media for biased coverage while on ‘Meet the Press’

September 3, 2012

Newt Gingrich was on ‘Meet the Press’ yesterday and he hammered away at the media bias, including the free pass Joe Biden got for his now infamous chains comment. He also defended Todd Akin, slammed Karl Rove, and brought up the point that the Democrat platform includes the most radical position on abortion to date because it includes taxpayer funding of late term, partial birth abortion. He made the point that if the media did its job and covered the Democrats in the manner it covered the Republicans, and the Republicans got their message out properly, that they would win all these arguments with the American people.

It got to the point where Newt Gingrich turned to Tom Friedman and asked him if he could defend this aspect of the Democrat platform, to which Mr. Friedman sad that he could but then declined to do so.

  Here is the video:

People can say what they will about Newt, he is from the “old school”, but he will defend the Republicans. What was said by him was all correct, for Rove to say what he did was as wrong as what Akin said, but once it is out, even an apology doesn’t make up for it. It is said and some will believe it at all costs. It would serve both parties well to think before they speak, but I doubt that will ever happen. It seems that some are only out there for self gratification and the country be damned. Growing up, when someone would say something hurtful to me and I would go home and tell my mom, she would always say “consider the source”, Linda! I think we need to maybe have that same mindset with this media and administration, they do NOT have our best interest at heart.

They do not have our best interests at heart, only their own. Which is why we have to watch them so closely and the more it looks like they are going to lose the more outrageous the rhetoric will become.
Newt can play the attack dog and Romney can focus on the issues, I think that might be a winning combination.

But…but…but. What an idiot. He knows there is no way to defend that position.

Gingrich is the best when it comes to smacking down the biased media. I did not support him during the primaries; but I did have dreams of him debating Obama. What a show that would have been.

I wanted that debate as well, Jim! What a debate that would have been. Newt is a plethora of information, isn’t he? He would have had Obama stammering!

I put him right up there with David Barton, John Bolton and Thomas Sowell in knowledge and ability to take someone down quickly and effectively. I also like Charles Krauthammer, but there are times he says some off the wall stuff that I have to question. I guess there are just some people that when they open their mouths, you know it is going to be “factual” stuff coming out and not more of the “talking points” that are given to them.

I agree, there is nobody in the Republican party with more knowledge of history than Newt Gingrich, although Allen West might just be right up there with him, so he is well equipped to throw the propaganda of the left right back at them with facts.

Regarding media bias, where is the expose’ on GM who the president thinks is the model for bailing out by the government? Just how many plants does GM have overseas? One in five cars GM makes is made in the US, in Bogotá workers on strike have sewn their lips shut and are on a hunger strike, GM is going to invest a Billion dollars in Russia within the next five years, GM Korea has been on strike and the plants in Europe are cutting back due to lack of sales. I could go on and on but you won’t hear about it on the news, why not?

Because it would be the truth? We can’t have that! I don’t like being lied to or kept in the dark, but guess that is what they are told to do to us. Pretty sad state of affairs, isn’t it GP?

I saw an interview on Fox today with the chairman for Obama for America and he touted how Obama saved GM and pensions for the workers. The host did not ask him about the non union retirees who lost their pensions, it seemed like an obvious follow up question and yet it remained unasked. There is so much the media could hit Obama on and yet even Fox fails to do so.

I am suprised you even question them anymore! FOX is not what it was in the past, I think all of the media is becoming politically correct. This is our last stand to get to the truth, here on the internet and we know they want control of it as well. Makes you wonder what this administration has on the networks that they will NOT make any waves, doesn’t it?

Honestly I don’t watch the news on television and rarely even tune into Fox anymore, I find I am much happier when I avoid the spin. But the interview I watched provided several chances to call out Obama and the host didn’t even come close to doing it. I wasn’t surprised, but if Fox won’t do it nobody will. The internet is the last bastion of free political debate left and that is why they are working so hard to gain control over the internet.

The left has ninnies the likesof Biden, Mathews, Combes, et al defending the indefensible while we on the right have a one man wrecking crew named Newt, a man who, with all his ducks in a row can figuratively slap the poop out of that whole bunch of seminal liars.
The left has the racist race baiters ala Obama, Ojackson, etc, while the right has only success stories such as Rice, Rubio and others.
If there was any justice the alleged journalists would be elevated to shoveling shit.
Karl Rove, with his two faces, won’t rest until the Tea Party and others who he sees as a threat to the elitists in the republican party are relegated to the dust bin of history. Common sense dictates that he is behind the move to usurp the delegate vote from the locals to those chosen by the party aparacheks.

I think you are right about Rove, his main interest is protecting the establishment and if that means bringing down the Tea Party he sees it as a necessary and legitimate goal.

Interesting article! Doesn’t suprise me that the epicenter was in good old Illinois. The problem with unions is that once something like this escalates, you never know how far it will go and you chance losing control of it entirely. Worked up people can do strange and deadly things they would not ordinarily do.

Only the Chicago people, Steve!!! We in “down-state” are mostly conservatives, how can so few people in the Peoples Republic of Chicago have that big of an effect on all of Illinois?? Well, my guess is they have alot of “voters” that make the difference. We in Illinois would be more than glad if Chicago would be cut off of Illinois and become their own state….I would appreciate if they take Gov. Quinn as well as the Madigans (father and daughter) along with Dick Durbin, Bobby Rush and Jesse Jr. with them and stay in Chicago. I am sure I left some out, but that would take care of a big part of our problems right there.

I shouldn’t have lumped you all together! Chicago is where the problem is and I think that most states have a similar problem in the large cities. There is a large concentration of people in the cities and they are usually more liberal, while the rural areas are more conservative. The high volume of people in the cities, while they are a smaller land mass, end up cancelling out the lesser populated rural areas. It is frustrating that a smaller area can even out a larger portion of any state.

Yep…they declared that all must perish to save humanity!! LOL!

I was so hoping for Newt to be the nominee….then I was hoping for that floor revolt and a brokered Convention to be called but alas…..the Progressives/RINOs got their way and all must now either sink with them or try to swim to shore!
Pretty sad when those are the only choices…..I think I’ll take my chances on swimming to shore!
