Democrat delegates boo as God gets put back in the official party platform

September 6, 2012

When I first heard the story about the Democrats removing all references to God from the party platform I thought it was in reaction to MSNBC host Touré’s comment that he was offended Paul Ryan would say our rights came from God and not from the government.

It seemed to me as if they were afraid of offending anyone by mentioning God and once Touré made his comment the Democrats figured this was a mainstream Democrat position so the decision was made that they couldn’t risk offending their base, so God was removed because the didn’t think this would offend anyone.

However, that was quite shortsighted on my part and I was wrong because the party platform was written before the convention and approved by Barack Obama before it was officially announced. Do you remember that Republican primary debate back in January when out of the blue came a question to Mitt Romney about whether states have the right to ban birth control? That question seemed odd at the time, but shortly after this debate Barack Obama made the announcement that all insurance companies had to provide free birth control regardless of their consciences and the faux Republican war on women was off and running. That was a coordinated attack between the media and the Democrats and I think that is also the case here.

Touré floated the notion that people should be offended by the belief that our rights come from God and one week later we learn God has been removed from the platform, just a little bit too coincidental to me. He was setting the stage for what followed.

It is no secret that the Democrats believe the government is the highest power and can grant (and thereby take away) rights, but they always had this pesky little God problem to deal with and they thought they had finally dealt God a death blow.

But they grossly miscalculated the backlash they would receive because the  Democrats have been taken over by the radical left wing of the party, and although Barack Obama did see the platform before it was announced, he is now claiming that once he learned about this “technical omission”  he personally led the fight to save God from the Democrat party. If he did lead this fight he did not do it for any strongly held belief about God, but rather because he feared the  negative political publicity his party was feeling.

This is where the story really gets interesting. Barack Obama may have demanded the language be put back into the platform but it still had to be voted on and passed by a 2/3 majority of the delegates.

Antonio Villaraigosa took to the stage to hold a voice vote on amending the party platform on national television and this is what happened:

Villaraigosa holds the vote and is about to declare the amendments passed until he realizes that the amendment did not pass, so instead of listening to the people he gives the delegates a second chance to pass the amendments and do what Barack Obama wanted instead.

Again the motion fails and a stunned Villaraigosa stands on the stage appearing dumbfounded until a woman leans over to him and tells him to make the decision and let the delegates “do what they do.” In other words, pass the damned amendment and we will deal with the delegates later.

Villaraigosa holds one final vote in which it appears as if the no votes won yet again but he declares the motion passed by a 2/3 majority. Clearly there was no super majority and it didn’t even seem as if there was a simple majority. Needless to say this didn’t sit well with the delegates who voted this amendment down and they booed loudly. They booed for two reasons; they booed because God was added to the platform and they booed because the leaders of the Democrat party ignored the will of the delegates and did what they wanted to do without concern for those who held the actual votes. And this debacle was all seen on national television.

It comes as no surprise to me that Barack Obama and the Democrat leaders would ignore the will of the people after the way Obamacare was shoved down our throats after we rose up and spoke loudly against it, but this time the roles were reversed and the Democrats saw just what sort of authoritarian Barack Obama really is.

Many of us saw how this regime governed without the consent of the people  or of the Congress with the recent Executive Orders issued by the president, but the Democrats did not oppose this usurpation of power because they agreed with him on these issue; this time the shoe was on the other foot and now the Democrat delegates have seen in Barack Obama what we saw a long time ago.

Steve, if the Romney campaign doesn’t use this video to beat the hell out of the Democrats, I will scream so laud you will be able to hear me back in the States. They have to say this was not an omission of oversight. They must make the public undersatand that Villaraigosa ignored the rule of needing two thirfs of the delegates to approve. He was lucky if he had half the delegates approving this change. It is obvious that Villaraigosa was under orders from Obama to get those changes made. People need to hear the booing. This video can be a powerful weapon in this election.

I agree Jim and today the Republicans came out with a statement about the Democrats saying no to God three times. That’s interesting, didn’t Peter deny Jesus three times? This is a winning issue for the Republicans if they dare to use it because I would guess that most Americans have a problem not only with leaving God out, but by the way they put him back in.

I think the dems had more then enough evidence of a failed administration long before this obvious mistake. It doesn’t matter on fire, the lemmings will follow anyways. Sad to know there are so many willingly disillusioned Americans.

True, this is just another in a long line of mistakes that should cost Barack Obama his job.

As fate would have it I surfed the convention just as the senator/pastor introduced the resolution. I stayed tuned and if I had been wearing socks they would have fallen down. to the outside world this was an incredible blunder but to the left syncophants, including Jews for Obama, this was nothing more than a hiccup.

After the election Sandra Flock will be appointed birth control and friction modifier czar.

I have to admit that I truly enjoyed watching this one play out and to think it was on national television makes it all that much better. This is more than a hiccup because it alienated Christians in the Democrat party and has to have others wondering if Barack Obama gives a damn about what they think.

Steve we are 100% in agreement. My biggest issue with it is the fact that the leadership lied about the 2/3rds majority in order to sweep it under the rug.

This should be on the front page of every paper and the lead story for every news program.

Imagine how many people wouldn’t vote for them if they knew this!

That is my biggest issue with this as well, it was clear they lied in order to get the result they wanted and I think that was in large part what the booes were about.

I turned the tube on right in the middle of the “vote”. At first when the “yea’s” had it, I thought they were taking a vote to take GOD out of the platform, little did I know til I actually listened that they were voting to put it back in. I mean, it never occured to me that it was already out and they got caught doing it, so they had to quickly put it back in. I guess what amazes me is that there are so many Democrat Delegates that would want to keep GOD out of it. It also amazes me that Obama would, after getting caught, insist on putting it back in. That there are still people of “faith” that still will support this man (term used lightly) is truly a head shaker. I have no doubt, that neither party considers the Delegates useful and they are just a formality anymore. To think that WE the People have any say so in this election, is wishful thinking now. We should see, after this was thrown in our faces that what we have to say is inconsequencial, how much more obvious could it be? That Obama had to approve the platform and then try and make it look like he was appauled when he found out that a certain part had been removed, is almost laughable if it was not so serious. I think these Democrats need to stop screwing around with what our Founding Fathers put into play, it has worked all these years, why change a good thing!!

They misplayed this whole issue and I think that is because the misjudged how the American people feel about having God around. People are not nearly as offended by a cross at a cemetary or a Christmas tree in the town square as the Democrats believe. They have been coopted by the far left and their reality doesn’t match mainstream America, this totally took them by surprise and the didn’t know how to deal with it. As for Democrats who are Christians–there are more of them than the leadership would like to believe and they should have been equally offended by this.

What suprises me is the amount of Delegates that wanted to leave it out. Where did they find these people and are they a slice of what is actually in the Democratic party? I am with you on how someone could vote for the Democrats now, knowing what just went on. We can hope that Romney will use this to his best advantage, but the media will try and spin it. The only good thing is that it is ON VIDEO, hard to smooth that kind of stuff over. They need to be sharper than that, surely they know someone will tape it??? They are overdoing the “offended” stuff, I am hoping most are tired of hearing it, it is just more of the same old crap, it is getting OLD.
I have just been listening to the jobs report, Stu Varney is telling it like it is, but oh the spin is out already…8.3% to 8.1%, oh goody!!! Stu brought up the fact that there are also the ones that are out of the job market that are not being included and the REAL unemployment…all this spin is to help Obama, what a joke he has become. It also gauls me that he has the nerve to say that he wants the 4 more years to bring this country around, IF there was any improvement, I could see where someone would want to give him more time, but haven’t we gone the opposite direction? Promises, promises, guess there are still those out there that will give him that chance.

From what I understand the Democrats have a quota policy in regards to delegates so that all groups are represented at the convention so maybe that was why there was so many anti-God people there. It does seem odd that there would be this many of them there, they are not all atheists in the Democrat party but they sure did have a loud voice.

The fact that they would remove a single reference to God is troubling enough. That they booed when forced to put it back in, well that’s even worse. The way it was forced down their throats is worse still and it is indicative of Obama’s style of politics.

I think they were booing because they knew the motion failed and they were being had. Still, they voted three times against God, so when they booed they were also booing the inclusion of God in the platform. I don’t feel bad for these people one bit, this is the way Obama governs and now they have seen it first hand.

I guess the Delegates have not come to the conclussion yet that even though they support Obama, he will still toss them out as well. They are pawns in his game, doing his dirty work. The minute they don’t fit in where he wants them, or they step out of line, they are done. What is funny, is that they were fine with taking it out of the platform, but when Obama was busted on it, he blamed them in essence and when they baulked and still wanted it that way, he over ruled them. Amazing…that is what they get for supporting “the one”. He is not to be trusted, guess it will take more of the same before they learn. They must be awful dense or slow learners.

A glimpse into what will be if the nappy headed one wins. He had God exiled, or in the least ok’d it, but just like an atheist in a foxhole the phoney in chief found religion. This clown and his electorate are mirror images of each other.

That change was going to be made no matter how the delegates voted:

GP, I doubt that any of our votes are important, either. If they don’t have enough, they will find them in a trunk or basement. I don’t know about any of the rest of you, but I have worked at the polling places. When you take the box of ballots, you go straight to the designated place for drop off, they check you off and take the box. That is all it amounts to, so HOW do they end up in out of the way places and would you not know if one did not show up from a polling place? Someone must not be doing their job OR there was never a missing box to begin with. Again, my question, how do they “find” them? As for those Delegates, I would be really upset if I voted and they pretty much ignored my vote, would that not be an eye opener for someone? They must therefore be stupid people and you probably know what I think of stupid people!

No matter what the issue is the delegates votes should have counted whether you agree with them or not. This should be enough to push all of these voters away from Barack Obama, we will see if they stand on principle or whether they fall in line with the party that just screwed them soon enough.

I’m surprised no one here realized that the no votes and boos are entirely in response to the amendment proclaiming Jerusalem the capital of Israeli. Notice how the camera keeps panning to the Arab delegates? There is a sizable controversy over the status of Jerusalem, with the majority of the world’s nations declining to recognize it as Israel’s capitol until Palestine is fully independent and negotiations over territorial boundaries complete. Since Palestine also claims Jerusalem as its capitol, its a tricky situation. The UN considers Jerusalem an international city, meaning that it belongs to neither/both. The United States has its embassy in the city of Tel Aviv and has never recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s capitol. That is why it was a big deal to the Arab-Americans and their sympathizers when it was slipped onto the party’s platform.
