Gunrunner: Inspector General claims White House “made it impossible” to investigate Barack Obama’s role in Fast and Furious

  On Wednesday the Department of Injustice released its long awaited (and late) report on Fast and Furious and predictably the report found that Eric Holder didn’t have a clue about the deadly operation. Fourteen people were named in the investigation as being responsible and two of them have resigned. Even if we take this report at face value and concede the point that Eric Holder in fact didn’t know, it still seems like his cluelessness about what was going on by so many members of his department should be grounds for dismissal.

  But on to today’s topic:

  I have been of the belief for quite some time that not only did Eric Holder know of and approve of Fast and Furious, but so did Barack Obama. Top aides in the Obama White House were in communication with ATF officials and were receiving updates about Fast and Furious, it is totally unbelievable and inconceivable they would not have shared this information with Barack Obama.

  So why then didn’t the Inspector General assigned to investigate Fast and Furious, Michael Horowitz, pursue this angle? He tried to but surprisingly enough (sarcasm) Barack Obama was uncooperative.

  During a Congressional hearing on his report he stated the White House made it impossible to pursue this angle.

At a hearing of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee on Thursday, Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Tex.) asked Horowitz, “You noted also in your report that the White House refused to share internal communications with you during your investigation of Fast and Furious. We’ve noted a connection into the White House through Kevin O’Reilly at the National Security Council.  Do you think the White House’s refusal to share these documents limited the scope of your investigation? Would this committee be well served by pursuing an investigation into that avenue?”

Horowitz answered, “Well, as we noted in the report, and as you know, congressman, we did not get internal communications from the White House and Mr. O’Reilly’s unwillingness to speak to us made it impossible for us to pursue that angle of the case and the question that had been raised.”

Farenthold: “So it would probably be worthwhile for us to pursue?”

Horowitz: “Well, certainly we have sought to pursue every lead we could. So, I can tell you, from our standpoint it was a lead we wanted to follow.”

    Michael Horowitz wanted to investigate the link between the White house and  Operation Fast and Furious but once again Barack Obama would not comply. The documents remain safely under lock and key where they cannot implicate anyone of importance.

  Kevin O’Reilly was one of the aides in the White house who we know had communication with the Bill Newell and was receiving updates on Operation fast and Furious and he also refused to cooperate with the investigation by declining to talk to the inspector general at all.

  Barack Obama is hiding something and he is hiding it to protect either himself of Eric Holder–or both of them–and if I recall correctly, didn’t Barack Obama promise to have the most open, transparent, and honest administration in the history of the United States?
